Talk about any and all other basketball video games including NBA Jam, NBA Street, college basketball games, and more. General basketball video game discussion and comparison topics are also welcome here.
I'm still a fan of those GTA games as well. As far as the basketball games are concerned, that's actually a Friday Five column I want to write: five older games that I can still play, or something along those lines. I have four in mind, but I'm still making comparisons for my fifth choice.
Double Dribble in my old Nes... Commonly known as Family Game here in Argentina
When my parents bought my first PC back in 1998, I went to buy an Encarta CD.... but I come with NBA Live 98 with Tim Hardaway in the cover... My parents were a bit upset with me (i was 9 years old)
I'd say NBA Live 98 has actually held up better. Retro gaming is still fun, but all those old encyclopedias have been well and truly replaced by online resources.
I'm going to say it was most likely NBA 2K2 for the Gamecube, but there's a small chance it was NBA In The Zone '98 for the Nintendo 64. I also remember playing a game with Mitch Richmond on the Wizards around the time, but after some research on YouTube & at my local retro gaming store, I don't think it was on the N64, and Richmond was on the Lakers by the time the Gamecube was released, so that game will most likely be lost to the annals of history.
Richmond on the Wizards...that'd have to be a game from the 1999 season to the 2001 season. Off the top of my head, that'd encompass NBA Live 99-2001, NBA Inside Drive 2000, NBA Jam 99 and 2000, NBA ShootOut 2000 & 2001, Fox Sports NBA Basketball 2000, and possibly a couple of others that aren't springing immediately to mind.
I know it had to have been a N64 sim game with both The Rock and Rip Hamilton, so that narrows it down to; NBA Live 2000 NBA Courtside 2 NBA In The Zone 2000
Of course, part of me thinks it's just me misremembering 2K2, because the pause screen I remember is exactly like the one for 2K2. Maybe I've just mashed up 2K2 with Courtside 2 to create some sort of false memory, like a basketball video game Shazzam.
NBA 2K15 on Xbox 360 which was amazing for me even though it is rated under 50 on metacritic lol. I was a deprived child that played FIFA all his life and well..........I have not played FIFA since that Christmas. Now that I've played madden and NBA 2k im never going back. Now I own
