GAMES 1 AND 2 IN OKC

Image

Westbrook Unstoppable As Thunder Takes Game 1
Oklahoma City 115, Portland 104

Anyone questioning whether Russell Westbrook is the league MVP should look no further than game 1 vs. the Trail Blazers. Dropping 38 points, 25 coming in the first half, Westbrook led his team to a blowout win to open the series.

Damian Lillard hit a pair of free throws to give Portland a 5-3 lead in the early moments, but that would be the only time Portland would be on top, as a 9-0 run set the tone for what would be a long night for the Blazers. They simply could not buy a stop, with OKC grabbing the offensive board on the rare occasion a shot wouldn't fall. It was a 42-29 Thunder lead after just one quarter.

Portland tried to make headway in the second, but despite some nice offensive sets, the defensive woes continued, with Lillard and McCollum finding themselves in early foul trouble as well. The Thunder lead was 16 at half, and it would swell to as many as 23 points. Portland's bench did what they could to keep the score from getting too out of hand, but their late run, sparked by guard Pat Connaughton was in vain. Cutting the deficit to nine points with a minute to go is simply too little, too late.

And such was an afternoon most Blazers fans would want to forget. Lillard and McCollum played fairly well, the latter scoring 17 points on just nine shots, but their inability to guard OKC in the first half did them in.

"Our defense was terrible, simple as that. We got away with it in the Houston series, but we won't get away with it here," commented Terry Stotts after the game. Stotts will hope his team's defense gets back on track two days from now when they face the Thunder again on this court. If not, this might be a quick series.

Thunder lead series 1-0.

Westbrook: 38 points, 7 assists, 3 steals, 17-30 FG, +20
Oladipo: 22 points, 7 assists, 3 steals
Kanter: 16 points, 6 rebounds (5 offensive)

Lillard: 25 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 5 turnovers, 5 fouls, 9-16 FG
McCollum: 17 points, 2 assists, 7-9 FG

The Spurs surprise the Warriors at the Oracle, Channing Frye goes off against the Pistons, and Anthony Davis's game winning tip-in gives the Pels the 1-0 series lead.

San Antonio 103, Golden State 90 (SA leads 1-0)
LaMarcus Aldridge: 22 points, 14 rebounds

Cleveland 110, Detroit 105 (CLE leads 1-0)
Channing Frye: 24 points, 9 rebounds, 10-17 FG, 4-7 3pt

New Orleans 91, Philadelphia 90 (NO leads 1-0)
Anthony Davis: 28 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks

Late Comeback Falls Short As OKC Takes 2-0 Lead
Oklahoma City 101, Portland 97

Down 17 points in the fourth quarter, Damian Lillard had just 9 points on a dismal 3-19 from the field. Then, the law of averages came in at just the right time - well, almost the right time… Up just three points with a minute to go against a red-hot Blazers team, Russell Westbrook dribbled the ball up the court in the nearly silent arena and calmly sank the three pointer that would lock up a 2-0 series lead.

After the shootout in game 1, this match was a change of pace, with both teams struggling to score in the first quarter. Despite Lillard's struggles, Portland's offense started to get things going in the second quarter thanks to McCollum and Davis, but Westbrook kept his team in it on the other end. The Thunder pulled away late in the third quarter. An unfortunate sequence of events that saw Lillard brick several threes and Aminu get fouled out on a BS loose ball foul call saw OKC build a big lead faster than you can say "Ilyasova".

Portland didn’t get their first points of the fourth quarter until nearly four minutes in, and by then the deficit was 17. Damian Lillard, who was 1-12 from beyond the arc at that point, decided to keep shooting, and it finally paid off, with four consecutive long range bombs going in. Noah Vonleh and CJ McCollum joined in on the fun as well, but after the Westbrook dagger, it was clear that it would be too little, too late. After some clutch free throws from Oladipo, this one was in the books: Thunder 101, Blazers 97.

As per usual, Westbrook was the man, reminding everyone why he was the MVP with 38 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Kanter and Adams contributed triple doubles, but outside of those three, the Thunder weren't great, at least offensively. Lillard had 23 points and 13 assists, 14 of those points coming in the third, while McCollum chipped in 21, and Ed Davis posted a double double.

Down two games to none, the Blazers will likely need to win both games in Portland to have a realistic shot at winning this thing, though the Thunder are no strangers to blowing 3-1 leads themselves.

Thunder lead series 2-0.

Westbrook: 38 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 15-27 FG
Steven Adams: 14 points, 14 rebounds

Lillard: 23 points, 13 assists, 7-24 FG
McCollum: 21 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 8-19 FG
Davis: 11 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks

Aldridge and the Spurs continue to dominate, now up 2-0 with a pair of games in San Antonio coming up! Meanwhile, Cleveland blows out the Pistons, and Ben Simmons's minimalist triple double knots the series for Philly.

San Antonio 122, Golden State 105 (SA leads 2-0)
LaMarcus Aldridge: 18 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists

Cleveland 118, Detroit 100 (CLE leads 2-0)
Kyrie Irving: 34 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists

Philadelphia 109, New Orleans 97 (Series tied 1-1)
Ben Simmons: 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists

Ouch. Westbrook is just unstoppable on 2k17.

Hopefully Lillard finds his shooting touch in games 3 and 4.

He is. It's like playing against Michael Jordan and a bunch of role players. He'll get his of course, but it's guys like Adams and freaking Ilyasova that are killing me with those second chance points.

GAMES 3 & 4 IN PORTLAND

Image
Mountain Dew <<< Crabbe Juice

Lillard, Aminu Sensational As Blazers Win Game 3
Portland 122, Oklahoma City 114

After struggling on offense for the first 43 minutes of game 2, the Blazers caught fire in the last 5. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to win that game. Fortunately, it carried into this one as Portland avoids the insurmountable 3-0 hole with a big home win.

The first three quarters saw the lead change hands numerous times, as both teams could not miss from the field. Westbrook, Oladipo and Kanter led the way for OKC, while Lillard, Aminu and McCollum were on fire for the home team. Trailing one going into the fourth, the Blazers were finally able to break through with a nice run to start the quarter. Allen Crabbe scored 14 of his 16 in the final period, and the Blazers' transition offense was too much for the Thunder to handle.

OKC kept it close with its dominance on the offensive glass, as well as Westbrook's relentless attack. However, Portland looked like the Warriors tonight (though the Warriors are down 2-0 to the Spurs, so that's maybe a bad comparison right now) and Aminu, with 25 points and 12 boards, looked like Durant.

Game 4 in Portland will be pivotal as it will either put OKC firmly in the driver's seat, or make this a best-of-3 series. Helping the cause is the return of Festus Ezeli from injury. He had 3 points and 4 assists in limited playing time tonight, and is expected to see the floor more in game 4.

Thunder lead series 2-1.

Lillard: 34 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds
Aminu: 25 points, 12 rebounds, 9-13 FG, 3-5 3pt, 4-4 FT, +28
McCollum: 22 points, 5 assists, 7 turnovers, 8-11 FG

Westbrook: 38 points, 11 assists, 4 steals
Oladipo: 17 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds

The Warriors stay alive with a blowout win in San Antonio, Reggie Jackson leads the Pistons to their first win of the series, and the Pelicans take the lead in a conference semifinal series met with less fanfare than the Raiders/Texans wildcard game

Golden State 113, San Antonio 88 (SA leads 2-1)
Stephen Curry: 39 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals

Detroit 105, Cleveland 93 (CLE leads 2-1)
Reggie Jackson: 28 points, 9 assists

New Orleans 106, Philadelphia 95
Anthony Davis: 29 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocks

Blazers Embarrass Thunder To Tie Series
Portland 115, Oklahoma City 93

Letting Russell Westbrook get his while stopping the rest of the Thunder seems like a no-brainer, but in the first two games, it was easier said than done for the Blazers. However, in game 3 and now game 4, that strategy has been a huge success. Combine that with an explosive offense, and you have yourself a tied series.

The game was close in the early going, with both teams still finding their bearings on offense. The second quarter saw the Thunder's offensive struggles continue, while Portland caught fire from deep. The Portland lead stood at a dozen going into the half - McCollum leading the way with sixteen points.

Things got out of hand in the third quarter, when a 13-4 run sparked by a Victor Oladipo turnover pushed the lead to 20. Lillard, Aminu and even Meyers Leonard were on fire from deep, and though Westbrook did what he could with a 37 point performance, OKC could not get any traction, and found themselves pulling their starters midway through the fourth quarter. Portland followed suit, playing all 13 guys who suited up. Pat Connaughton had 7 points in garbage time.

With the series knotted at two games apiece, the Thunder still hold the slight advantage with games 5, and if necessary 7 being in Oklahoma. However, the Blazers have all the momentum, and if they can continue to play this well, the winner of the Warriors/Spurs series might be getting nervous.

Series tied 2-2.

Lillard: 24 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds
McCollum: 22 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 steals
Leonard: 13 points, 10 rebounds

Westbrook: 37 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
Oladipo: 3 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 1-7 FG

Golden State did what they had to and then some, blowing out the Spurs in San Antonio twice in a row to knot things up. Meanwhile, the Cavs and Pelicans appear to be bound for what most expect to be a lopsided conference finals series.

Golden State 112, San Antonio 89 (Series tied 2-2)
Draymond Green: 8 points, 20 rebounds, 9 assists

Cleveland 110, Detroit 90 (CLE leads 3-1)
LeBron James: 23 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks

New Orleans 100, Philadelphia 88 (NO leads 3-1)
Anthony Davis: 28 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists

McCollum didn't do a very good job defending Westbrook...

Westbrook, Adams Dominate As Thunder Take Game 5
Oklahoma City 115, Portland 104

In a jarring contrast to the Warriors/Spurs series, OKC/Portland has seen all of its games go to the home team. Indeed, it took a 44 point outburst from Russell Westbrook, foul trouble from Lillard and dominant frontcourt play to get it done, but the Thunder are back in the driver's seat after an impressive game 5 win.

Things were trouble from the start for Portland, as they found themselves in the penalty just three minutes into the game. Lillard and Ed Davis were relegated to the bench, and the Blazers found themselves with a small deficit they could not seem to overcome. As has been the case all series, the Thunder dominated the offensive glass. The unexpected hero however was Ersan Ilyasova, who tormented the Blazers on both ends of the floor.

CJ McCollum and Allen Crabbe had the hot hand, but struggled to keep the Blazers in it. The Thunder lead swelled to as much as 17, before Damian Lillard, with 5 fouls, came into the game to stop the bleeding. With an impressive defensive effort, Portland got themselves back in the game to close the gap to 4, but could not get any closer as Russell Westbrook would score a basket, or Steven Adams would dunk the ball on a fourth chance opportunity. A late turnover leading to an Ilyasova three sealed the deal, and the Thunder took game 5.

The Thunder's dominance on the boards and in getting to the charity stripe proved to be the difference maker in this game. With the season on the line, Terry Stotts said he would consider a lineup change to address the major issues on the glass. It'll be do-or-die for the Blazers in Portland In game 6.

Thunder lead series 3-2.

Westbrook: 44 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists
Adams: 18 points, 9 rebounds, 8-12 FG
Ilyasova: 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals

McCollum: 29 points, 4 assists
Lillard: 20 points, 12 assists, 4 steals, 5 fouls

The Warriors become the first home team to win a game in their series, taking a 3-2 lead over the Spurs. In the East, Detroit stays alive with a shocking win in the Land, and the Pelicans blow out the Sixers to advance to the conference finals for the first time in franchise history.

Golden State 116, San Antonio 112 (GS leads 3-2)
Stephen Curry: 20 points, 9 assists, 5 steals

Detroit 103, Cleveland 100 (CLE leads 3-2)
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: 27 points, 7 assists

New Orleans 118, Philadelphia 94 (NO wins 4-1)
Tyler Johnson: 28 points, 4 assists, 10-16 FG, 4-6 3pt

OKC is so strong on the boards, it's a pain. And staying in front of Russ as well.

Interesting to see the Pels move East and be able to win a Playoff round there.

BLAZERS FORCE GAME 7
Portland 123, Oklahoma City 116

In game 6, it was raining threes in Portland. It was a high-scoring affair from start to finish, with both teams coming out on fire. The Blazers opened the game on a 12-0 run, but it didn't take long for the Thunder to close the gap. Portland was unconscious from beyond the arc, but despite inserting Meyers Leonard into the starting lineup to improve the rebounding (really, him?!), they continued to get killed on the offensive glass. Behind Lillard's 21, the Blazers led 66-58 going into halftime.

Portland's lead swelled to as much as thirteen, but the Thunder would not go away. Oladlpo and Adams were disruptive on the defensive end, while Westbrook got to the line at will. "If we weren't red hot from three, there's no way we would have won this game", commented Terry Stotts after the game. The teams kept trading the lead back and forth in the final period. Up two points with three minutes to go, CJ McCollum had the sequence of the game, blocking a Westbrook layup on one end, then drilling a pull-up three on the other.

Damian Lillard took it from there, scoring on consecutive possessions to put the game away. He finished with 37 points and 10 assists on the night. McCollum had a very efficient 23 points, while Evan Turner responded to coming off the bench with a terrific game as well. Westbrook had his usual 37, but nearly posted a dubious triple double with turnovers.

It all comes down to game 7 in Oklahoma City. In a series in which the home team has won the first 6 games, the Blazers will need to buck that trend to secure their first conference finals berth since 2000.

Series tied 3-3.

Lillard: 37 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds
McCollum: 23 points, 9 assists, 8-11 FG, 5-7 3pt
Turner: 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 8-9 FG

Westbrook: 37 points, 12 assists, 6 steals, 9 turnovers
Oladipo: 13 points, 9 assists, 6 steals

There will be three game sevens in this conference semifinal round. The Spurs' suffocating defense finally showed up against Curry and the Warriors, while the Pistons stunned the Cavaliers once again to force a deciding final game. Could the Warriors and Cavs go out in the second round?!

San Antonio 94, Golden State 87 (Series tied 3-3)
LaMarcus Aldridge: 16 points, 10 rebounds

Detroit 105, Cleveland 91 (Series tied 3-3)
Andre Drummond: 17 points, 14 rebounds

hova-, Yeah, when I look at their roster, I'm not impressed. However, other than their lack of three point shooters, they're built pretty well for 2K cheese.

Valor, Good to see you, man! Yeah, I've had a backlog of recaps that I just needed to copy, format and post. Trying to post these recaps at the same rate as the playoffs happen, which I think I've done so far.

Phil89, Keeping him under 30 would certainly be a first for me. :|

FUCK THE THUNDER

Blazers Dominate Second Half, Stun The Thunder
Portland 114, Oklahoma City 95

Some say that a series doesn't start until a team wins a game on the road. Well, if that's the case, then the Blazers were lucky this series didn't begin until game 7. In a game that was very close in the first half, the visiting Trail Blazers blew things wide open in the third quarter and didn't look back, earning their first conference finals berth in seventeen years.

The game began with four quick Steven Adams points, but the Blazers didn't let that set the tone, drilling a three on the other end. Things went as expected in the first half, with Russell Westbrook having his way on both ends of the floor, and the three ball keeping the Blazers in it. Led by (who else?) Lillard and McCollum, Portland found itself up by two points, 55-53, at halftime.

Portland opened the third quarter with a rim-rattling dunk by C.J. McCollum. They followed this up with an Al-Farouq Aminu three pointer off a turnover, and all of the sudden, it was a seven point game and the arena was silent. The Trail Blazers offense could not be stopped in the third period. Even with Lillard once again limited with foul trouble, Portland was firing on all cylinders, while keeping the Thunder honest on the other end and limiting second chance points. Noah Vonleh was the unsung hero on defense, making some key rotations, and likely taking back the bulk of Meyers Leonard's minutes.

In the fourth, the Blazers kept their foot on the gas pedal, but the Thunder wouldn't go away. The Blazers had several chances to put the game away, but a missed three or costly turnover would give OKC life. Unfortunately for the Thunder, the aforementioned offensive rebounds that have been their ace in the hole against this Trail Blazers team just weren't there, and their one dimensional offense couldn't close the gap. Russell Westbrook hit a shot with four minutes to go to trim the deficit to nine, but Lillard responded with a pair of dagger threes to finally put the game away.

Garbage time made things look even worse than it was for the Thunder, as their season ended with a 114-95 loss on their home floor. After the game, the team received a well deserved standing ovation from the crowd. They may have lost the series, but winning 58 games and getting within a game of the Western Conference Finals after losing Kevin Durant is something to be proud of.

Trail Blazers win series 4-3.

McCollum: 28 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds
Lillard: 26 points, 4 assists
Crabbe: 16 points, 6 assists, 3-8 3pt
Vonleh: 9 points, 9 rebounds, 3-4 FG

Westbrook: 30 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, 12-25 FG
Oladipo: 5 points, 2 assists, 2-12 FG, 1-8 3pt

Steph Curry made sure the Warriors would not be going home in the second round by getting it done on both ends of the floor in a game 7 win over the Spurs. LeBron and the Cavs meanwhile decided to try and annihilated the Pistons to advance.

Golden State 109, San Antonio 97 (GS wins 4-3)
Stephen Curry: 31 points, 7 assists, 7 steals, 5 rebounds

Cleveland 104, Detroit 70 (CLE wins 4-3)
Tristan Thompson: 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks

CONFERENCE FINALS

1 Golden State (65-17, 8-4) vs. 3 Portland (53-29, 8-4)

2017 WCF PREVIEW: BLAZERS vs. WARRIORS

Image

In a rematch of last season's conference semifinals match-up, the Portland Trail Blazers will be taking on the Golden State Warriors for a spot in the NBA Finals.

Portland, which went 53-29 in the regular season, are coming off a seven game series in which they upset the Oklahoma City Thunder. Golden State, on the other hand, posted a league-best 65-17 record, but also needed seven games in their series against the Spurs, in which they came back from a 2-0 deficit. The Warriors, looking to make their third straight NBA Finals appearance, are the heavy favorites to win this series. Portland will have their work cut out for them if they are to win their first conference championship in 25 years.

In the season opener, the Warriors embarrassed the Blazers in Portland with a 144-112 victory. The other three match-ups between these teams were closer than that, but the Warriors did handily win the season series 3-1. This will be a battle between the league's two best offenses. Portland does have the advantage in the second unit, as the Warriors lost Shaun Livingston to the expansion draft, and Andre Iguodala is still questionable, recovering from a broken ankle suffered in March. However, containing Golden State's four all-stars is an incredibly tall order, and the Blazers will need plenty of things to fall their way to have a chance in this series.

WARRIORS' TOP 8:
Image

Last year, Portland had a chance to put the Curry-less Warriors on the ropes. However, a major collapse in game two, followed by Curry's return in game four led to a 4-1 Warriors win. Without the luxury of Curry missing the first three games, the Blazers will have their work cut out for them.

Coverage of the 2017 Western Conference Finals begins tomorrow.

Best of luck containing the (IRL) All Star center Zaza Pachulia

On a more serious note....those Warriors have insane ratings

Okay that could be hard. I don't know if you have on the defensive end what it needs to take down the Warriors (well, who does?).

Going to the WCF is already a great success, but imho your only chance to win it all was the Spurs beating the Dubs. Didn't happen. Question is for the future: how do you want to improve in offseasoN?

Durant hits the game winner despite Aminu's stifling D

Blazers Blow 18 Point Lead, Warriors Take Game 1
Golden State 119, Portland 115

"Pretty much everything needs to go right to beat the Warriors", remarked CJ McCollum prior to Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. In the first half, everything pretty much did for Portland. Though Curry made some BS shots to put the Warriors up 30-29 at the end of the first, the Blazers dominated the first half with unconscious shooting from beyond the arc. A big run in the second period stretched the lead to as high as 18. However, a pair of late Blazer turnovers saw the lead being trimmed to 11 at intermission.

Golden State carried their momentum into the second half. Curry continued to dominate, while Draymond Green wreaked havoc on defense. The Blazer lead was trimmed to 2, before of all people, Meyers Leonard and Noah Vonleh helped stretch the lead back to double digits. Despite Lillard and McCollum taking turns dunking on Pachulia, the Warriors would not go away with their relentless offense.

After being dormant all game, the fourth quarter was all about Kevin Durant. Durant hit some simply unfair three pointers, making everything regardless of the defensive pressure. It wouldn't be until there were three minutes left that the Warriors finally broke through and took the lead. Things went back and forth with both teams making clutch shots thereafter, and a Draymond Green steal that led to a Curry three to put the Warriors up 115-113 with 30 seconds left was a game breaker.

Al-Farouq Aminu made a pair of clutch free throws to tie the game, but as was the case for the entire second half, the Blazers couldn't get a stop, as Kevin Durant sank a midrange jumper with 6 seconds left. Portland still had one last shot, but Lillard bricked a contested three.

"I think I'm going to be sick", commented Terry Stotts after the game. Portland blew a big lead last year in game 2 of their series with the Warriors in last year's conference semis. Stephen Curry was the player of the game with 37 points and 13 assists. Lillard and McCollum led the way for the losing effort with 27 and 25 points, respectively. The Trail Blazers will have another chance to steal home court advantage in game 2. It will be telling how they respond to squandering such a golden opportunity tonight.

Warriors lead series 1-0.

Curry: 37 points, 13 assists, 13-25 FG
Durant: 24 points, 3 rebounds, 9-16 FG, 4-7 3pt
Green: 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 assists

Lillard: 27 points, 9 assists, 10-16 FG
McCollum: 25 points, 6 assists, 10-16 FG
Leonard: 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6-8 FG, +18

Anthony Davis continues to put the Pelicans on his back, as they continue their unlikely Cinderella run. Could we actually see a 40-42 team make the NBA Finals?

New Orleans 98, Cleveland 87 (NO leads 1-0)
Anthony Davis: 36 points, 12 rebounds

Ouch. I guess there is no such thing as a comfortable lead against the Warriors.

You guys will bounce back in game 2 (Y)

Blazers Knot Series With Fourth Quarter Run
Portland 121, Golden State 117

After their heartbreaking defeat in game 1, it was the Blazers' turn for a comeback victory, using a 20-2 run in the fourth quarter to defeat the Warriors and tie the series at a game apiece.

Golden State got off to a fast start, with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green picking up the slack for Steph Curry, who struggled with his shot. Portland kept themselves in the game with the three ball, but could not seem to shake a ten point deficit. Things threatened to get out of hand in the third, when the Golden State lead swelled to 15, but a clutch steal on one end and three on the other by Al-Farouq Aminu kept momentum from swinging completely.

CJ McCollum, who had just eight points in the first three quarters, came alive in the fourth, hitting a pair of three pointers to start the game-deciding run. Portland capitalized on some very bad mistakes from Golden State, and turned a 101-90 deficit into a 110-103 lead with three minutes to go. The Warriors refused to give up however. Kevin Durant sank a pair of free throws out of a timeout, and a Damian Lillard turnover led to a Thompson three.

The Warriors would retake the lead, 115-114 with less than a minute to go. However, McCollum once again came up big in the clutch, draining a three pointer in Curry's face to put Portland up two. A misguided Thompson jumper clanked off the rim, and Aminu made the game-sealing free throws to finish with a career high 31 points.

The series will now shift to the Moda Center for games 3 and 4. Golden State notably lost games 3 and 4 on the road in last year's conference finals before winning the series in 7 games. "We're winning game 3, I guarantee it", remarked Stephen Curry, who scored just 11 points on 4-16 shooting with 7 turnovers.

Series tied 1-1.

Aminu: 31 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 10-17 FG, 7-7 FT
Lillard: 30 points, 13 assists, 8 turnovers
McCollum: 27 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 4-8 3pt

Durant: 19 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists
Thompson: 30 points, 11-18 FG, 4-7 3pt
Curry: 11 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 4-16 FG, 1-9 3pt

The Pelicans hung in there, but LeBron posted a triple double and the Cavs knotted the series. But despite having stolen homecourt advantage, and holding their own against the champs, the Pelicans were visibly dejected after the game, after hearing that Anthony Davis would miss the rest of the playoffs with a knee injury. That's all folks.

Cleveland 109, New Orleans 105 (Series tied 1-1)
LeBron James: 27 points, 18 rebounds, 12 assists

Great response after the disappointing end to game one. Now win your home games and put them under real pressure (Y)

That's terrible news about AD. Congrats to LeBron on making it to the finals for the 17th consecutive year, I guess.

Aminu is playing out of his mind. It seems like you find ways on defense which I heavily doubted before the series. Curry only 11 points and 7 TOs ... that's exactly what you want.

Davis out hopefully also in 2ks sim enginge means the Pels get trashed from now on. Here's to hope it's not CLE vs GSW three in a row.
