This is fucking great news, now lets hope the judge will aprove it so that the defense can kick their asses in a civil sue.

Prosecution in the Kobe Bryant case will ask the judge later today to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be brought back for trial, ABC News is reporting. The decision might have been triggered by Kobe's accuser reportedly telling prosecutors she would not testify.

word i jus heard about this
the Eagle county DA is about to have a press conference in like 15 mins

Well.. I'm disapointed, not suprised, but disapointed. I just wanted to know the truth behind what happened.. and guess we wont. It's good for basketball though, and Kobe can get on track for a big season. It's time.

Thu Sep 02, 2004 10:48 am

KOBE IS FREE!

Thu Sep 02, 2004 12:43 pm

good, i am glad he is free. now when he fucks up and the lakers just miss the 8th seed we dont have to hear how kobe is under so much stress and thats why he forgot to pass the ball and instead lobbed up some lame ass airball and cost them the game.

I to am glad that he is free. (Y)

IT wasn't a good promotion for the game there for a while; when he was first charged- and if he had been sent to prison, it would have really tarnished the rep of NBA players & just about ruined his rep as well.
But for Kobe, it must be a huge load off of his shoulders & now, he can go on to dominate the league like he has in previous years. :D

It's good he's free... poor Zach Rudolph though...

It's good news for Kobe, the Lakers and the NBA, but I wonder if it's the result he truly wanted. Dismissing the trial has the same result as a not guilty verdict, but doesn't seem quite as decisive. I'm sure some people will still question whether the pressure placed on the accuser has forced her out of the trial and that Kobe has gotten away with a crime, just as people will argue that this action reveals the accuser to indeed be a golddigger.

In any event, damage has been done to his reputation and his public image. To me it seems the media has been fairly kind to him about his infidelity (something that they criticise other athletes for) but the whole incident has hurt Kobe somewhat in that he's lost a couple of endorsement deals and the negative aspects of his character has been focused upon. Like so many celebrities before him, he's clearly unable to live up to the impossible standard set for him. It's not the best way to prove that he's human the same as the rest of us, but it's perhaps the one positive aspect of this whole affair.

finally he´s free :D

awww man. All the talk, the expectations, and then the boring ending, and we don't know what happened...

He's not free yet. There's something called a civil case to pay for damages.

That's what the girl wanted in the first place, money.

seems like many kobe-haters will be pissed about this news. Esp to one person who really hate Kobe Bryant. That person was a Lakers fans but hate Kobe coz his Bitch Lazy Shaq was booted out coz Lakers want to rebuild around Kobe. He's a Lakers fans but deep in his heart his now a Heat bandwagoners.

Seriously we dont know if Kobe was innocent or not, only two knew that. But if he's really innocent then the truth just set him free. if his guilty well lets believe in karma and somebody, he'll pay for the wrong doing he had done.

Again to you (the one im talking about pls stop whining!!!!

Fri Sep 03, 2004 3:10 am

You're innocent until proven guilty so I will always believe that Kobe is innocent. :)

Fri Sep 03, 2004 3:57 am

Doesn't take away from the fact that he commited adultery.

They cant prove hes guilty because there are no witnesses, and no audio or video tapes. Its a he said she said thing.

Its not against the law anymore to commit adultery so it doesnt matter. he is a idiot for cheatin on that hot MILF....but he cant be thrown in jail for it so it doesnt really matter to us.

it never ceases to amaze me anymore how shaq always gets thrown into the topic when it has nothing to do w/ him at all

few things

1. even kobe haters should never have(though i know they did) wished/wanted for kobe to go to jail. it should strickly be a innocent/guilt thing.

2. i think he is innocent. she wanted it, he wanted, then she got mad when he didnt care about her after the fact. she also probably talked to a friend who said "hey you can get paid from this" so she made this crap up.

3. he still cheated on his wife. say what you want but thats wrong and that also shows a bad image towards him and the nba.

4. i know she is going to try to sue him for money, but wouldnt it be cool if he could counter sue. get back all the millions he lost from endorcements and lawyer/court fees?

Fri Sep 03, 2004 9:30 am

she wanted it, he wanted

Um, no. Kobe even said that he can see her side of it.

This isnt judge judy. If he counter sues, not only will it look bad in his defense, if he wins, he wont get the millions he "lost" becuase she doesnt have it.

Fri Sep 03, 2004 10:21 am

notice the part where i said "if he could"

Fri Sep 03, 2004 7:38 pm

Um, no. Kobe even said that he can see her side of it.

The statement made was merely part of the agreement for her dropping the case, stipulated by the prosecution.

Fri Sep 03, 2004 8:22 pm

Actually Kobe didnt say anything about that, the prossecuters had a agreement on paper or something and Kobe had to sign it.

Oh aren't we all getting all moral now.

I still don't get some things though. For example in that letter or whatever Kobe wrote (or one Lin Wood or whoever) saying stuff like "I can see where she thought I was raping her" I don't understand that stuff, why did he even write something like that?
