....???

First MJ, now Rodman...get your own number. *cough* Lebron *cough*

Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:35 am

So now anyone who enters the league wearing a number 33 will be said to be copying Pippen? What logic is behind this thinking? Isn't it possible James just likes 23? He did wear that in highschool, didn't he?

Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:35 am

91 LOL

He wore it in high school because it was MJ's. He does now in the NBA because it was MJ's. It's some sort of "tribute" he thinks he's doing. He's made that clear to the public.

I figured that was the motive behind his decision to wear 23 but the way Mat-Mat formulated his sentance it's clear that he thinks LeBron is trying to BE MJ. Please, wearing a jersey number shouldn't imply this.

Giving tribute to a legend doesn't mean someone's trying to be that legend, those are two different things.

wearing a number like 33 or 23 is nothing but wearing a number like 91, which is so odd, could make someone think he is trying to copy rodman.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:54 am

I do remember Artest saying how much he respects Rodman, so I extremely highly doubt that the #91 he chose is something personal or whatever, to me its clear that hes doing it because of Dennis Rodman.

imagine if you were on a team and you were playing against artest and rodman in their primes.. what a nightmare.. i'd run off the court and cry like a little girl

Nice mentallity (Y) :P
They might kick my ass off the court, but they wont scare me on the court if I was able to play them.

i don´t think he wants to imitate and be the next dennis rodman,he already is crazy and was crazy the last years when he didn´t wear the 91 :!:
might be just because he likes rodmans attitude and wears it in remembrence of him...

but they most defenetely would kick ass together

Mon Aug 30, 2004 9:36 am

That is going to be ugliest jersey every.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 9:38 am

whats the problem with big numbers? Eventually if all the small ones retire, bigger ones will have to be used.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 10:05 am

seems like artest changes his number every year.. 15.. 23.. now 91.. hopefully in 06' it'll be 69, that'd be hilarious

Mon Aug 30, 2004 10:33 am

I hope he steals Rodman's hairstyle too.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:12 am

he should start changeing his number to however many techs he received the previous season.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:44 am

I think he has...

honestly though, dennis rodman is not a bad guy to try and take after(basketball wise, none of that other crap). he was a damn hard worker and very smart. yeah near the end he started skipping or being late for practice(dont copy this) but he reached a point where all he wanted to do was defend/rebound, and he could do that perfectly fine by just watching film.

rodman may have been a freak but you gotta admire his bball skills.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 5:40 pm

yeah i've never seen anyone work that hard to get rebounds.. he was pretty smart as well.. i would've loved to see him go at it with big ben

Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:20 pm

I saw this picture in a michael jordan book... Dennis Rodman diving for the ball- Matrix style!!! Oh yeah!

Good for Artest... go copy Rodman and crash your bike in front of a strip club.... :(

I saw it SLAM #77, the 10th Anniversery issue where Rodman just jumped horizontal. Oh the skill of Rodman ( )

Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with wearing #91- it is any ugly number, but if he wants to, Isay go for it. However, I think we can go without another Rodman (the hari, tats, peircings) but it would be funny. (does that sentance make any sense?! :? )

But Pippen originally copied off someone else's number; Dr J.'s. He liked the idea of 3+3=6 so he wore #33 as his number, from college onwards.

I would actually like to see more high numbers, as long as the NBA doesn't introduce the NFL's number rule where each position has it's range in the number line from 00-99!
