LOL, Corymach...

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I think there was something like "What does the NLSC stand for?" or that kind of question when I was registering.

We were able to use that one for a while, then the spambots wised up.

There was a reading comprehension test you need to pass before the admin verify your account though.
If that was implemented today only 10 of us would be in the forums.

When did it stopped? I don't remember answering one back in '08.

There was never a comprehension test. That was a joke.

As an aside, the FCC is the Federal Communications Commission, not the Federal Communication Counsel. If you're going to threaten someone with that - ridiculous as it is to do so - at least get it right.

When he got banned? Did he got banned because of that Wiki post or something else?

No, his Wiki post is protesting his Forum ban, which came about because he clearly wasn't taking the hint about putting more thought (and variety) into his topics. His last post is really no worse than any of his others, however it was a clear sign that he just wasn't getting it. I wanted to give him a fair chance, but yeah, he just wasn't getting it.

I bet the kid is bursting now with all the coaching changes going on.

I think this situation was handled fairly, it's tough dealing with someone in his frame of mind to get through too, hopefully he learns from this in the future.

Simple sincere apology would have landed him perhaps a second chance but he chooses to be salty. It seems he genuinely believes his rights were violated. Wow. I hope he comes around though eventually. formx is still with us today so anything's possible.

Pretty much. Some people well and truly burn their bridges for good, but if someone hasn't crossed too many lines and is willing to be polite and civil in talking to us about the situation, we'll consider it. People definitely have had their accounts reinstated on a probationary basis, and though some have squandered that opportunity, in most cases I'd still say it was appropriate to extend them that second chance in the first place. In many other cases, there have been no further issues, and it's worked out well for everyone, which is what we'd prefer.

It certainly doesn't help that the First Amendment is widely misunderstood online, with people believing it (and the concept of freedom of speech in general) to be an all-purpose Get Out of Jail Free Card, or an all-conquering trump card in discussions. As noted above, xkcd summed it up pretty well.

I should also mention that I was in two minds about creating this thread in the first place, and even posting the latest screenshots, for a couple of reasons. First of all, you'd prefer not to give attention to people throwing tantrums, because that's what they want. Second, it can come across as stooping to their level, or at least being a bit petty and childish. Ultimately, I decided that if someone wants to publicly make a fuss, their tantrum is fair game for any of us to ridicule, especially if they're someone that I and other people in the community have tried to advise, and give the benefit of the doubt to on more than a couple of occasions.

Believe me, I've received some delightful emails from banned members over the years, and I'm not in favour of making those public* because as rude as they are, the person did at least contact me privately to give me a piece of their mind. If it's posted in the Forum, our Wiki, or on any of the NLSC's social media pages, though, in a place where the person wants it to be seen? As I said, fair game.

*But it's really, really tempting, sometimes.

If he had a little more substance in his posts he would probably still be here today. Instead it was the same old rehashed ideas. That being said I think he fits perfectly with the WWE creative team.

Also bro, when we gonna hang out in Scott Road?

This keeps getting better and better.

I often wonder if people account for servers not being in their country. Coincidentally I was able to trace nba-live from Europe through France, London, New York, Chicago and finally end up in Dallas, where the server might or might not be physically located.

What could FCC (assuming it would be a legit complaint, not Corymach) do about a server based outside of the US? I mean if the server wouldn't be breaking any laws of that country of course. Nothing.

Also Andrew in 4.
