How were the last few X-men movies? I'm a huge X-men fan but haven't gotten around to watching them

if you dont give a shit about continuity then they were good. fox clearly did not have a long term plan and just comes up with whatever they feel is the best idea at the time. being said i am really excited for this movie

That's the problem with XMen, Spiderman, and Fantastic 4 movies. The companies gotta use the license or lose it back to Marvel. So we'll continue to get an endless stream of reboots

i wish they would of just done a reboot with xmen and not tried to connect them. i mean i enjoyed the movie but its really fucked up continuity when they combined the 2 movies. they should of used first class as a starting point for something brand new. let hugh jackman have his cameo and leave it at that. it was the perfect time for them to recast everyone and plan for the future instead of the now. i want to say fox is really bad at all of this but i actually think its just that marvel is so good at it.

spiderman i have hopes for now that marvel is involved.

Singer wanted to do the Days of Future Past story, and thinks The Last Stand ruined his old continuity anyway, so he more brought back the actors because they were familiar "future X-Men" for moviegoers. He's more or less wanted to run with the First Class continuity since they did it and basically has. The future from DFP doesn't exist anymore.

So you'd suggest watching first class and last stand but not dfp?

God no, never watch The Last Stand.

The RT scores are pretty accurate except that The Last Stand should have about half that score or lower:
X-Men 81%
X2 86%
X-Men: The Last Stand 58%
X-Men Origins: Wolverine 38%
X-Men: First Class 87%
The Wolverine 70%
X-Men: Days of Future Past 91%

Just watch this and then watch First Class, Days of Future Past and Apocalypse.

Though X-Men (except the ending) and X2 are quite good. I wouldn't pass them up just because they're a different timeline. The main reason to watch them for their tie-in to the plot is so you recognize the characters in the Future-set scenes of DFP.

I watched the original, x2 (I'm the juggernaut, bitch!), and x3 so I got those covered. Definitely interested in watching apocalypse, but I might need to catch up on star wars 1,2,&3 first

I've already seen the first three and didn't realize that Last Stand = #3
I also watched the Wolverine one unfortunately. EDIT: (The shitty one with Deadpool & Sabretooth.) I forgot they made another Wolverine movie.
Just got done with First Class and I'm finding myself having the same problem with X2 & Last Stand: There's just tooo many characters and X-Men stories to cram into a 1 1/2 hour movie and still make it interesting/exciting. Is it just me or do they stray from the original X-men storylines/origins to make it a nice, neat movie with "Hollywood magic"? Or am I being too critical? (Like Moira MacTaggert as a CIA agent?)
It was a pretty decent movie overall, though.

Watched Days of Future Past last night. Easily the best movie since the originals (especially since I didn't like First Class too much)
I still had some issues with storyline, but not as much as before. Still don't get how or why Magneto at times can move/control people as if they were made of metal.

Iron in their blood DUH!

Even sillier is Xavier's "pause everyone" power imo.

this trailer actually made me less excited for the movie. then again that just might be because it had zero chance of comparing to the latest civil war trailer. possible its just because i hate the fact that they will force jennifer lawrence down our throats the entire fucking time

Real problem is that she's Mystique. It would have worked out better for them if they had cast her as, say, Jean Grey back in First Class and then she did Hunger Games and became a headliner. Like Hallie Berry and Hugh Jackman in the first X-Men movies she was a relative nobody when they cast her for the first film.

Also, that's she's terrible at acting.

Actually, I doubt the movie is mostly her but there's nobody even close to better for them to fill the trailers with for the mass market. She made $50+ million last year, highest grossing actress over Scarlett Johansson who only made $35 million. So what can you do. Gotta suck in those Hunger Games kids.

yeah i understand why she is all over the trailers but i hope its just for the trailers and the movie is not mystique and the xmen. you are right the fact that she is mystique is horrible as now she almost refuses to wear the makeup so the one character who is most proud of being a mutant is now constantly in human form. you are also correct about her so called acting ability.

i mean no matter what this is an opening night viewing for me i just hope it can at least top batman v superman
