There is always one or two sleeper teams that make the playoffs. From all the move made so far,who do you think is gonna be a sleeper team.Don't say Utah, there not a sleeper. They barely missed the playoffs.Everybody know they gonna make it this year if they come togheter as one.
My surprise team is Washington and The Clippers (yes, them)

Suns and Magic. Have explained it before, but I'll do it again if anyone wants my reasoning. I have a few others in the East, like the Raptors, but I don't remember all my playoff picks as of today

Suns and Raptors. And I'm not saying that because they are my 2 favourite teams. Raptors have a great running pg to feed VC or kick it out to Mo Pete on the break. They also got Arajuo (sp?) who could be a 10 and 7-8 guy in the East, which is all they need. Bosh will improve. And it seems like anyone can drop out of the playoffs in the East. Remember a few years ago when the Bucks were expected to reach the conference finals at least. Didn't make it. And if the Suns can't swing a trade for a center (that gives them a playoff berth imo) that killer 3 guard rotation could run teams to death. And it's a pretty good 4 guard with Barbosa (he's nice and speedy.)

i think the suns are much improved and could really do something but i gotta go with the magic. i would love to say denver but they are not really a sleeper now are they. anyway i think the magic will slip into the playoffs this year. i also think the magic will be justified with picking howard, even if he wont see the ball much thanks to stevie and cat never passing.

The Lakers, Ive seen so many opinions that they wont make the playoffs, will be a lottery team this and jibba jabba that. I think they will surprise those people.
Fri Aug 20, 2004 9:47 am
i wanted to say orlando but forget it now since he's on mostly everyone's list
i'll say philly in the east. i think it will either be feast or famine for them... indiana also in a sense since a lot people here don't consider them championship contenders
from the west i'll go with portland. it's a longshot but why not- having ratliff for an entire season should make a big difference and if they are able to get something halfway decent for SAR, they definitely will be in the hunt
Fri Aug 20, 2004 9:55 am
Milwaukee Bucks in the east & the Clippers in the west.
If the Clippers manage to be healthy on a consistant basis with Brand getting his 20 & 10, I think they have a chance.

Yeah. many will be suprise with lakers. as Mr. T said many thought lakers will be a lottery team but you'll be suprise. Most of us Lakers fans still believe in our team.

I don't think if LA makes it, it'll be that big of a deal opposed to if a team like the Clippers make the last seed. People have come to expect the Lakers to be in the playoffs, it won't be huge news if they make it next year. They don't really qualify as a sleeper team. I think to qualify as a sleeper team you'd have to be a team that has been "asleep" these last couple of playoffs.
The Lakers don't have to be the center of attention all the time.

Sixers.
If they can stay healthy I think they have a good chance to finish with at least the 3rd seed in the East, the offseason didn't bring any superstars but it brought roleplayers who could help the team bounce back.
Fri Aug 20, 2004 10:48 am
The Magic will be the surprised team. It seems like everyone thinks the Magic will be a lottery for some reason and their in the easiest division in the league. They also have a good team when you think about it. Francis is an all-star PG, Mobley is a good shooter and can get 20 a game. Then you have good defensive players in Battie, Dwight and Cato. If Hill is healthy they will really be a top 5 team in the East. Then they have a great backup PG in Jameer Nelson as well. They have a very solid team and will surprise alot of people this season.
Fri Aug 20, 2004 12:26 pm
bulls if chandler stays healthy and starts.
Fri Aug 20, 2004 12:33 pm
76ers are another team I have but I forgot about. I think they'll win the division.

I agree a lot of people forget about the Raptors.
I don't agree that Araujo will average 10 and 7-8. A rookie center averaging that is exceptional. Jus tlook up some of the better young centers in the league right now, like Magloire, Eddie Curry, Yao Ming, etc. 5 and 5 is more like it.
The Raptors also have the advantage of being in the Atlantic. There's a possibility that three teams will fight for the 3rd seed in the playoffs there and the two who lose out missing the playoffs completely.
Sat Aug 21, 2004 4:19 am
A 10 and 7-8 might get Araujo into the ASG if Shaq was still in the West. Almost. That's a little high IMO. Probably more like 5 and 6.
Sat Aug 21, 2004 7:05 am
I said he could, not will. More likely IMO is about 8 and 6 or so.
Sat Aug 21, 2004 6:07 pm
Orlando has a good shot given that the winner of the South East Division will be guaranteed one of the top three seeds. They probably won't be bad as most people expect. I myself keep forgetting they got Francis and Mobley out of the T-Mac trade.
I like the suggestion of Portland in the West, though that top eight is (as it has been for the last few years) difficult to crack.

Bobcats
Sat Aug 21, 2004 7:05 pm
Really? I know we're judging them mainly by their expansion status, but they don't seem to be shaping up much better than other expansion teams in the last couple of decades were in their inaugural season.
