Ginobili is more of a hustle player... I go with Brent Barry shoots, passes, dunks, and scores well.

Gary Payton or Steve Francis (Stupid all-star voting has made me bitter)

Sat Aug 14, 2004 5:44 am

GP - will step up. Francis' gonna have trouble leading the Magic

Zach Randolph or Shareef Abdur-Rahim?

Sat Aug 14, 2004 5:55 am

Rahim's in is prime but Zach is still improving. Zach will be better.

Boozer or Gooden?

Sat Aug 14, 2004 6:10 am

boozer.. more refined post game, more consistent and doesn't force his shots.

playmaking wise

in his prime.. scottie pippen or rookie lebron james

Sat Aug 14, 2004 6:44 am

Pippen. 6 rings compare to some hype.

Divac or Sabonis in their prime.

Sat Aug 14, 2004 7:46 am

Sabonis....no need to flop vs Shaq.

David Robinson or Patrick Ewing in their primes?

yep, sabonis would get dunked on regardless haha

both are great players- i picked the admiral based on personnal preference. and thanks to his nickname, it gave myself and my friends a code word to use for a stipclub we went to (the nudey joint was called admiral's. we would say robinson's in front girls)

hardest city to play in: new york or philly?

Sat Aug 14, 2004 3:50 pm

Big Apple.

Let's see....

Yao or LBJ to start a franchise?

Sat Aug 14, 2004 5:08 pm

King James all the way. Yao is a 2x all-star in only 2 yrs. of the game. Now check this out.
He's been in two all star games and has a total of about 15 points. He was voted to the asg i think for no reason, he averages 15 ppg, and King James well, 20 sumin', and LeBron is already a rising star, Yao is one too, but I'd rather start off with LeBron.
Need I say more. Oh.
Which great player to come out of HS.
KG/ Kobe/ T-Mac

You're judging him by his performances in the All-Star game?

Sun Aug 15, 2004 12:23 am

Yao will be a superstar but he won't be a Hakeem, Duncan or Garnett. No franchise player... just a nice foreign guy, I guess.

He's been in the league for 2 years  (Y) ...the only reason he gets into the ASG is because of the Chinese vote...with like 2 billion + people voting for him...

KG no doubt. no need to explain. (though let's talk again about this in the future and maybe KB will be my answer)

Okey this one and pls ask this to Mitch Kup-suck
Marcus Banks or Jumaine Jones

Sun Aug 15, 2004 2:32 am

Jumaine Jones sucks. Banks has potential. Jumaine just sucks. Banks all the way.

Heathly and in prime: Baron Davis or Steve Francis?

Yap tell that to kup-suck.
Davis. francis maybe the franchise but he can carry a franchise.

:?

You just watch on Sunday, PJR will be playing the US, you'll see how :? he is :P
PJR will become a pretty good player for the position he was picked.

j.23 wrote:boozer.. more refined post game, more consistent and doesn't force his shots
Boozer has a post game  they both don't have one

Danny Ainge because he just ripped Kuptchak.

Mickale Pietrus or Jason Richardson?

Mitch is worst..no problem in trading Walker, but theres a problem in trading Shaq!!

Who is better at 3s-
Allan Houston or Ray Allen

Sun Aug 15, 2004 5:39 am

ray allen.. has several ways to get his shot off before knocking the 3 opposed to houston who spots up and shoots (good question tho, they're 3 point % are almost the same )

earl boykins or muggsy bogues

Shaq or Rick Barry.

*sigh* Kobe fans...all over the place. :x

Let's get it on with I suppose.

First off, 2000---Shaq = League MVP. Eat shit & die. He only plays the finals? Sure.

Let's see:

Shaq's stat splits for the season 2003-2004:

With Kobe:

FGA: 14.3
FG%: 58.4%
Ast: 3.0
TO: 3.2
O.Reb: 3.9
Rebs: 12.7
Blks: 3.1
Pts: 21.6
Pts per 100 possesions (ignoring offensive rebounds): 100.0

Without Kobe:

FGA: 17.8
FG%: 59.8%
Ast: 3.8
TO: 3.0
O.Reb: 4.2
Rebs: 12.0
Blks: 1.7
Pts: 27.8
Pts per 100 possesions (ignoring offensive rebounds): 107.1

Now on to Kobe:

With Shaq:

FGA: 17.2
FG%: 45.5%
Ast: 5.7
TO: 2.9
O.Reb: 1.6
Rebs: 5.7
Stls: 1.7
Pts: 23.0
Pts per 100 possesions (ignoring offensive rebounds): 100.0
Without Shaq:

FGA: 24.0
FG%: 41.5%
Ast: 4.6
TO: 2.7
O.Reb: 2.0
Rebs: 6.3
Stls: 2.2
Pts: 31.6
Pts per 100 possesions (ignoring offensive rebounds): 100.4

from an individual stats standpoint, both players see increases in scoring when apart, with Kobe's efficiency staying steady while Shaq's points per 100 possession metric actually improves! To the casual fan, Kobe may be the winner in that he can light up the scoreboard, but Shaquille shows the best overall ability to shine away from his 'other half'...

Now, let's see how much the team's winning percentages is With Kobe & Without Kobe and With Shaq & Without Shaq.

Shaq with Kobe:

+/-: +379
Off48: 104.0
Def48: 93.5
Net48: +10.5
W: 45
L: 10
W%: 81%

Shaq without Kobe:

+/-: +57
Off48: 95.0
Def48: 91.2
Net48: +3.8
W: 34
L: 29
W%: 54%

Kobe with Shaq:

+/-: +379
Off48: 104.0
Def48: 93.5
Net48: +10.5
W: 45
L: 10
W%: 81%

Kobe without Shaq:

+/-: -67
Off48: 94.7
Def48: 99.3
Net48: -4.6
W: 22
L: 36
W%: 38%

the simple answer is that together Kobe and Shaq made for a dominant force in the NBA, even in the strife filled 03-04 campaign -- an 81% plus/minus game-by-game win rate when they were on the floor together is the second best player-pair in the league from last season, only topped by Tinsley-Artest who were 34-6 (85%) in their game by game plus/minus tallies.

Split up, Shaq proves to be the player that makes the most difference to winning and losing (at least with the 03-04 Lakers), by a considerable margin -- a raw +57 plus/minus without Kobe looks pretty good next to Kobe's -67 plus/minus without Shaquille, and on a per 48 minute basis it's +3.8 for Shaq alone to -4.6 for Kobe alone.

Still, O'Neal's game-by-game +/- winning record was only 54%, although that's in part a function of limited minutes apart which makes for a more volatile (and thus close to 50%) statistic.

Ouch. Now shutup.

Thank you, eat shit & die & drive safely.
