1. Billups was never invited therefore he never declined
2. Magloire is Canadian
Sat Aug 07, 2004 10:25 pm
Guards: Pierce/Bryant/McGrady/Wade/Billups
Forwards: Garnett/J.O'Neal/Marion/Artest
Centers: S.O'Neal/B.Wallace/Duncan
C-
Time Duncan (obvious reasons)
Shawn Bradley (international guys aren't used to 7'6 people who can defend)
Shawn Bradley plays for Germany

You're damned right this threat has nothing to do with personalities or anything like that, but I just had to say something! Talk about team cancers...
Jwill isnt as bad as he use to be. You act like he is a committed alot of crimes or something. In that case you shouldn't have people like Kobe or Iverson represented the USA because they committed crimes

Jwill can represent the US team if he wanted to join because he would bring the energy to the team and make it more fun to watch.
As for Riot saying Battier being on the team, I wasn't the only one to say that but someone on espn wrote an article about who should be on the olympic team and they even had Brian Cardinal on there along with Battier

I'm glad you didn't pick the team because over half of your players declined invitations

Prince should have been asked to join team USA. thats the problems with our team. no defenders. this guy shut kobe down in the finals and cant even get an invite? the problem with team USA is they are trying to just get the biggest names/scorers they can. forget passing, forget defense. lets just run and gun and hope to beat real teams.
if our players are on then we cant lose, but if our timeing gets throw off and we are forced to play basketball we will lose. thats the sad truth.

It wasn't Prince who shut Kobe down, it was the Pistons. Every other team sticks one defender on Kobe and asks them to shut him down (Cuttino Mobley, Bruce Bowen, Trenton Hassell). The Pistons threw 2-3 guys at Kobe every chance they got. It wasn't just Prince, it was also Rip and Lindsey Hunter.
Anyways, I don't know why we'd put Brian Cardinal on the team.
After some serious thought, I rethink my team:
Guards: AI/LeBron/Cassell/Andre Miller
Forwards: Marion/Jefferson/Bowen/Reggie Miller?
Centers: Duncan/Ratliff/Boozer/Okafor

This USA team would be all about having toughness, leadership and teamwork. Magloire and Miller would be hard workers on the boards for the USA. Duncan will have his MVP type leadership then you have the athleticism of Amare and rebounding of Boozer. You have more toughness from Artest and Carmelo is a great scorer. Redd is the sharp shooter, something the current USA team doesn't have. Battier shows on and off the court leadership and would represent the team well. Iverson would be the floor general for the team. Cassell has the veteran leadership. I think Billups declined an invitation for the USA squad so I'm not sure what to say about him. So I would put Lebron in at his spot.
Despite the fact that Magloire is Canadian (chose Ratliff, get a shotblocking presence

), that is certainly one nice team to have out there. Also Billups did not decline, it was his teammates Big Ben and Rip. However, I really love the Battier inclusion. I'm not a big fan of his, but he brings a ton of energy. Although I might include Posey over Battier; equal energy, better jumper...hmm I forgot about him.
I'm not one to try to brand people and say they should or shouldn't represent a country... but I'm doing it right now. Jason Williams is an embarassment to not only the United States, but to the world in general.

What's this JWill bashing? He's no longer as immature as he was his rookie year. He's matured a ton under Brown, especially his own the court play. He can knock the open jumper, good creator, not terrible at defense...however, I can list a good number of PG's I would take before him.

j-will an embarassment? give me a break. the only "trouble-making" he's been known to is simply trying too hard on the court but just like a lot of the people in the NBA he MATURED. come to think of it, j-will would be an awesome addition to the team.. awesome passer, good shooter and since being with brown he knows when to step up or make his teammates around him better.. j-will hasn't done anything embarassing to the US, like shit.. you can argue that iverson got charged w/ gun possession kobe's been accused of rape, lebron and his h2 shit, boozer deceiving his team and leaving the other for more money and all these players still get invites.. what has j-will done? NOTHING. get off his ass and give this guy a break.

I don't think the 1992 Dream Team could compete with that
Mon Aug 09, 2004 3:14 pm
C - Tim Duncan / brad miller
PF - rasheed / stoudemire / okafur (you have to have some collegers)
SF - artest / lebron
SG - bowen / redd / barry
PG - iverson / marbury
the only one who would certainly start is tim duncan, who plays well and dominates in any style on any team. i'd be tempted to take someone out and maybe put in lenard instead
Mon Aug 09, 2004 6:25 pm
man, Rasheed and Chris Webber would be awesome additions. They can play the Euro game, at least they have the capabilities and they are more athletic. Even Cliff Robinson would be good. Lock down on D and can shoot from anywhere
Mon Aug 09, 2004 7:07 pm
I wouldn't put webber on the team but Rasheed would be fun. I want to see him yell at a germen dude who can't speak english. Fustej' to you!
Mon Aug 09, 2004 7:13 pm
well Webber would be a good fit. He's got the range, he's big, a good rebounder and the whole international game would suit him overall.
