Free agent forward Eric Williams has agreed to a three-year, $12 million contract to join the New Jersey Nets, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN Insider's Chad Ford on Thursday.
Williams, a 6-foot-8 small forward, is considered a defensive specialist and will be counted on to replace some of the rebounding and defense the Nets lost by trading Kenyon Martin to Denver.
He averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 26.6 minutes last season for the Celtics and Cavaliers

It's an okay pickup but I can sure see the Nets would rather get the cheaper players

Great lockerroom guy, good defender, nice +/- stats...could RJ move to the 2 now? I don't see why not, instead of starting RJ + Harris/Buford, why not EWil/RJ.
I think the Nets can still make the playoffs if they sign another big man (Mihm?, but he's too slow for their Princeton offense).

Williams has spent some time at shooting guard the past couple of seasons, so the Nets could probably get away with leaving Jefferson at small forward.

Mihm is gone...so now what?
Uh, Eric Williams rocks!

good move. They now have a guy totally committed to D....he won't cause any disruptions and he'll fit right in

Yes he could. EWil could also play some 4 vs smaller teams...he's such a versatile guy. We'll see though.
