i still say mj was better at 40. if anything i bet you mj could've had a higher scoring average if he started all 82 games (he came off the bench the first 15 games). you're forgetting the fact that mj had not played ball for 3 years and he came back and did pretty well at arguably one of the toughest positions to play. he held his own against the likes of paul pierce, carter, t-mac etc and that's pretty impressive.. im not saying karl malone is a bad player at all, but realistically if he retired and came back at the age of 38 or 39 do you think he could've done that well in his position? i certainly don't think so.

I think both did a fine job... (Y)

You guyz are correct I was watching some show and they did a study on jordans brain waves they said when einstein was at work it was so and so level but when jordan played ball it was well equal to if not greater than einstein's but they also said that he used all sides of his brain something that is highly unusual :P

heres what seperated Jordan from everyone else

skill, determination, work ethic, killer instinct, competitiveness, athleticism, good looks

i dont remember saying that you said kobe is stupid...
And i ask for something please. Stop comparing MJ to anyone.

said the guy who made a long post comparing MJ and Kobe...

Fri Jul 30, 2004 7:03 pm

What seperates Jordan from the rest is that he comes closest to Wilt.

Fri Jul 30, 2004 8:13 pm

Yeah mike's 6 rings come awfully close to wilts 2 :P

As the guy above's

Call me Matthew (y)

Fri Jul 30, 2004 9:01 pm

i meant stop comparing him anymore. Ok Mr.Kobe fan ?

you posted this after making that huge post ...

Don't forget about charisma and leadership Even at age 18. he became the leader of a NBA franchise. Even MJ couldnt do that. But it doesnt mean he is the next MJ. But if there has to be a next MJ , he is the closest candidate

get my point mr. whatever?

JJ wrote:As the guy above's sig says Wilt is overrated. At his time he was the tallest and strongest guy. If he played on 90s he would mostly be hustle all-star center. He wouldnt even reach to Ewing's level.

Wait you mean Wilt wasn't the most athletic big man in the league who was not only extremely athletic (great at track&field) but also extremely strong and very fast and quick? He played sucky big men? Go look at the Hall of Fame and see what big men played in his era.

'He wouldn't reach to Ewing's level"
LOL

I think, from what ive seen, David Robinson was more of an athlete than wilt. maybe not a better basketball player, but athletically, id say robinson was superior.
Go look at the Hall of Fame and see what big men played in his era.

There's such a simple reason for this... every year there are nominee's, and you cant be in the hall less than 4 or 5 years after your retirement.. so basically all the era's are there.

VCFAN wrote:You guys are so ignorant to say that Michael Jordan is so great by his stats when he was 40. What about Karl Malone. His stats were just as good if not better than Michael Jordan at the same age. Look at his 2002/03 stats (the year he turned 40). Does this mean Karl Malone is a better player. No but please don't use his age on the Wizards as an arguement. Karl Malone was putting up stats comparable to the best players in the league in his late 30's.

Actually I was referring to all great players, not just Michael Jordan. I used Michael Jordan's stats as an example since he's the player we were discussing.

I don't see how this is ignorant, especially as I did not cite it as the only reason.

Wilt's game was mostly grace, not all power. Go watch videos and tell your own view instead of others' views.

ahh it was inevitable wilt's name would be brought up. this makes the discussion almost go full circle.

thread starts off about bryant or jordan. then someone compares the 2. then someone mentions wilt. i'm still waiting for someone to bring up oscar roberston and/or bill russell...

LOL :P Guess what? If Jordan didn't had those skills already mentioned he wouldn't got those rings.

Fisher doesn't have the skills Jordan has...
Nor does Devean Geroge...
Nor does Randy Brown...
yet they all have rings.

My point is, no rings, no talk. Simple as that.
