Besides, everyone's vying for second place behind Adam West.
"And I didn't need molded plastic to improve my physique! Pure...West..."

I got as much disappointed as I had gotten excited in the first place, probably more than that. Batman is not The Batman without Bale. I like Affleck and all, but he is not suited to play Batman. He is a softie. And he isn't a superhero, we know that from Daredevil.
This is really a saddening news.

Also, Elizabethtown. The first movie of him I watched. He became an instant favorite.

i just want to point out that 10 things i hate about you and knights tale were his best movies.
ben has had good movies too and been good in smaller parts before. he was spot on in smaller rolls like boiler room (movie sucked but he was good) and mall rats and he was good in his bigger roles like armageddon argo and the town. i am not gonna say ben is the actor ledger was cause i think ledger was a much better actor but in no way is ben a horrible actor that destroys everything he touches.
on top of all that this is not a batman movie. this movie will not depend on ben holding the spot like for 2 and a half hours. in my opinion this movie will work best if ben and henry work great on screen together. these 2 need to have the kind of relationship that batman and superman has in the comics. these are the 2 that stand above all the rest in the justice league. the entire DC universe starts and ends with these 2 characters

lmfao major mistake by me. I meant 10 Things not Elizabethtown

Holy hardbender. The final Batman scene in Rises is basically a rip-off of that clip.
Another proof that Adam West is still THE Batman.

Another in-character parody account.

I think the backlash against Ben Affleck is a little too much. The combination of Bale being amazing and his decade old superhero dud seems like nerds just complaining for the sake of complaining. I don't think any one other than Bale would have satisfied anyone.

You're definitely not going to please everyone when casting an iconic role/character like Batman. At best, you can win the majority over if most fans end up liking the performance and the film(s). There are probably fans who dislike Bale's portrayal of Batman or at the very least, don't rate it as highly as most people do, so his return likely wouldn't have satisfied everyone either. Ben Affleck remains fashionable to dislike though, which doesn't help matters.

i still think keaton was the best batman personally. i think the bale movies are better but keaton was better as the character. i just want to point out that people were pissed about all 4 of the movie batman actors. not a single one was met with "thank god we got (insert name) to play him"

I would agree, I love Bale and I loved the trilogy, but Keaton was somehow a slightly better fit for this character.
Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:34 pm
Yeah, a lot of people don't remember how much people freaked out about Keaton being chosen. THE COMIC ACTOR?!? NIGHT SHIFT, MR. MOM, GUNG HO, BEETLEJUICE, BATMAN?!?!?!?
Keaton's my favorite Batman/Wayne combo. Kilmer might be the best Batman and Bale the best Wayne.
Keaton got screwed by not being able to move his neck.

val gets a lot of grief for the same reason ben does, they bored were the star of a shit movie. neither did bad in the role but the movies themselves sucked balls so everyone blindly throws the blame on the lead.

Daredevil's directors cut is better.
However, in November 2006 Affleck stated that he would never reprise the role, having felt "by playing a superhero in Daredevil, I have inoculated myself from ever playing another superhero... Wearing a costume was a source of humiliation for me and something I wouldn't want to do again soon."
Neat.

Seven years and the role in question being Batman will change anyone's tune.
Wed Aug 28, 2013 6:59 pm
yeah not to mention he now has freedom to do pretty much whatever the hell he wants by accepting this role
Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:16 pm
So while I'm on the more pessimistic side, there are definite dramatic roles I've enjoyed Affleck in. Not saying he's the actor of a generation or anything, but he can do decently well with a well written part
Is Snyder going to make it a well written part?
Probably not.
This is very, very bad.

thats where i think the big problem is. everyone wants to bash on affleck when i really think snyder is the bigger problem. if they said snyder was fired and ben was writing/directing this i would be much happier

I think Snyder's directing is fine in terms what is brought to the film visually, but he tends to struggle with everything else. It also doesn't help that David Goyer is also writing it. He simply exacerbates Snyder's weaknesses with the poor dialogue and plot pacing in his writing.
