Capitalism-like games

Postby rafal723 on Thu Jul 11, 2013 7:51 pm

You guys know any other Capitalism-like games ? I mean video games, which have economics, market (you sell st, you buy st). It'd be great to play a game, where you have ur own supermarket (chain) or what, something similar. I was looking, didn't find anything. Or maybe u know some other great strategic/economic game ?

If you don't mind going old school, here's an old favourite from the 90s:

I'd rather like something more near-Earth.

Aerobiz games for SNES

Railroad Tycoon games have some aspects, I always liked in II manipulating the stocks of my competitors.

The Tower/SimTower whatever that series is really called.

Some of the endless number of Tycoon games and even parts of Tropico have market aspects. I haven't played the Port Royale series but I believe that's all about amassing wealth and financial empire in the "Columbus" era.

Believe it or not, Fortune Street for the Wii even has a competitive market aspect with property, stocks, etc.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, maybe do some poking around in the related categories and stuff for some of these games on wikipedia that'll probably turn up more titles.

Yea I played Capitalism II not long ago (within the last 4 years) on my slowballs laptop, very fun game. Lots of satisfaction creating any sort of company from retail, food, industry to hi-tech (my fav). Really do wish there was a new one that ran a bit better on different resolutions.

Also played that gazillionaire in elementary school, only had limited number of moves which made it very quick/interesting, fun but not nearly as in depth as Capitalism.

Simtower also played, pretty fun, but again more like a tycoon type game or sim-game like simfarm, simcity etc. of the era.

If you do find a similar game let me know (other than the ones listed).

Was that the shareware version? The full version does last a lot longer and has more features. Like I said, it's pretty old school at this point, but it's an old favourite of mine.
