Since E3 is over, may as well move all versus discussion to this thread

Would the lack of region locking apply to Blu-Ray movies as well as games? I've got the 2010 Finals on Blu-Ray, which are region A and thus don't play on my player, which is region B, because for some reason the NBA felt the need to change publisher and the new publisher felt the need to region-lock, whereas the previous one didn't.

For those of us who aren't hardware nerds: what does that first section actually mean, in English?

PS4 is more powerful. Full difference remains to be seen. Might be like Xbox/GCN (PS4) vs. PS2 (Xbone). Will likely reverse last time when 360 often had better multiplats.

And you'll be able to upgrade your PS4 hard drive.

Xbone MIGHT stream media better across wireless.

You need HDMI compatible TV, no more component/composite support.

One thing they left off the RAM comparison is that Xbone only can use 5GB for games, PS4 can use 7GB.

PS3 was region free for Blu-Rays and DVDs I believe, so I'd assume that continues?

Wait, the GCN was more powerful than the PS2?

Yeah, I doubt it's something anyone will know for sure, but the PS3 being that way is a good sign.

i voted for the playstation as i simply like the system better. i am glad microsoft changed the shit that was pissing people off as i see competition as a good thing. the big advantage sony has imo (and only my opinion it seems as no one ever agrees with me on this) is the controller. i hated the xbox controller and the ps4 one looks even better. cant wait to get my hands on it

Going with the PS4 for already mentioned reasons.

Right now I'm going with neither, there's just no reason for me to get them when they come out.

PS4 as I had all gens of PS. I think it's gonna stay that way again tho 360 was tempting as hell and ps3 was somewhat disappointing. But if the deal hits me hard at my g spot, I won't refuse. Like I know this buddy of mine who's got PS3 uncharted3 package for $150 from Sears surprise sale.

Region free also applies in games as well. With the only region lock game I believe is Persona 4 Arena that was release last year.

I believe it was just only PS3 games that were region free. The DVDs and Blu-Ray movies are still region locked.

Canadien people who got PS3 were ordering Blurays from Amazon UK because Region doesn't matter on PS3.

Ah. Well I guess the region locking only applies to DVD's then

So far, it's PS4 or nothing in the poll.

I'm still leaning that way too. It's cheaper if nothing else and I'm pretty confident it'll get the job done.

We know that the PS4 has better specs. The question I haven't seen asked is what does that actually mean? Because the PS3 had better specs but a lot of times it had inferior graphics than the Xbox, and we know that PS3 had architecture that was hard to figure out or whatever. So now, they're both x86, basically computers, should mean no problems.

So why hasn't anyone asked if that means games will look better on the PS4. Or will that extra juice compared to the Xbone allow games to have, lets say, higher anti-aliasing? As much as games make the consoles, I'm kinda tired of looking at shitty graphics, that's why I barely ever touched my consoles after I got a nice gaming PC.

It didn't.

Because it's just assumed?

Most of the multiplats will probably be slightly better on PS4 much like this gen saw multiplats as slightly better on the 360. Resolution, AA, frame rate, etc.

It'll also depend on sales, the PS3 ports got better as the generation went on because there were more PS3s out there to justify the costs. And also the advancements in multithreaded tech and the like in general which led to many like DICE using PS3 as the lead platform for development since it was the harder nut to crack and then the 360 would just gobble it up fine.

We don't yet know the difference between the two Jaguars there was a claim the Xbone's was clocked lower, which with Microsoft hiding the specs on everything just fuels that type of rumor. The high end potential difference is something like Xbox/GCN vs. PS2 which also saw most multiplat devs not bother to really do much more than frame rate and some texture bumps or something because there were three times as many PS2s as the other two combined.

I took a look at the NBA2k14 next gen trailer again real closely. There is still jagged edges, i'm guessing the AA is at 2 or 4. Also can tell the absence of DX11. Kinda disappointing.

I think that's pretty much been the focal point in 3d polygon gaming era and I have a feeling it's even going to be more of that especially in this upcoming PS4/XBone era. More wrinkles on face, slightly improved textures, more explosions, same 1st person shooters w/ less than 10 hours of single player campaign per game, more of enforced microtransaction to truly win, more visual in sacrifice of gameplay, developers heavily focusing on 1st person and button mashing action genre, and so on.

Honestly speaking, I'm not too excited about this next gen. I don't expect any of it to be mind blowing(Probably I'm just getting old).

Those specs of PS4/XBone probably will become comparable to low end gaming PC in no time.

so as excited as i am for the ps4 i am really let down knowing i wont get to play the new zelda. the return on the zelda style i like most of all. stupid fucking wii u. stupid ass nintendo too. just ditch making consoles and do what sega did

Agreed, that's about the only thing I miss about Nintendo, having moved away from their consoles after the N64.

Xbone supports 8 controllers, PS4 supports 4

360 supported 4 controllers, PS3 supported 7

Eh, I'm going with PS4 also. Like another person has posted, my time also will be split between my newest desktop since I'd like to go run through my dusty pc games. However, the only titles I can think of I'm wanting to get on PS4 or PS3 would be Watchdogs, MGS, Killzone, and Tom Clancy's The Division.

I don't think I'll ever really need more than two controllers anyway, so I can live with that limit.

wtf needs 8 controllers? 7 makes even less sense lol
