Don't know about this API stuff, but...There's been some fairly widespread talk that the Xbone dev kits and tools and support are way behind, that Microsoft's own games were six months or more behind schedule because none of that stuff was ready. Meanwhile Sony had PS4 devkits out ages ago with great tool and libraries support.

Which is part of why the 8GB GDDR5 announcement was such a surprise. The dev kits had never had more than 4.

so when xbox 1 comes out I'll be able to play 2K15 (probably not 2k14 since they'll most likely milk this engine for another year) so I'll be able to play 2K15 the same exact way I'm playing 2K13 right now on my PC.... at 1080p+ with 60fps.....

from GAF, and well, this video - http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/silm ... y--stream-
Geoff Keighley had an interview with Don Mattrick (recorded pre conference) - here are some excerpts:

Keighley:"Did you know or did you anticipate the way the people would push back?"
Mattrick:"Absolutely - it's a super passionate community of people... till you use it [Xbox One] it's really hard to understand what all the advantages are."
________________________________________________________

Mattrick: "Xbox has been created by gamers for gamers."
________________________________________________________

Mattrick: "Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called xbox 360"
________________________________________________________

Mattrick: "The avarage internet connection is working the majority of the day - people are imagining that it isn't... It's change. There was a point in time when people would say all i want my phone to do is make a phonecall."

The stuff about the 360 comment is at 1:50, just wow

I've seen people defending the approach, claiming that they don't lend or borrow games and that single player is dead anyway. Still a poor justification for the approach.

What's fucked up is that my current gaming room set up won't allow Xbox One at all because projector beam interferes with Kinnect camera. That means no game at all, lol.

Makes me wonder how their sales will do if they stay on this course for the launching.

Seriously?!

I'm kind of shocked that Australia is supported, given there are still people here on dial-up with the NBN being slow to roll out.

qhat is a "Xbox One-Supported Xbox Live Country"? why no Japan?

Re: Xbox One Revealed

Thu Jun 13, 2013 12:03 pm

They decided the five people who will buy one in Japan aren't worth the infrastructure cost.

Re: Xbox One Revealed

No online connectivity means no gaming.

Are they really gonna stick to this agenda? How about the third world? They not care for them?

Re: Xbox One Revealed

Thu Jun 13, 2013 6:14 pm

How many people in the third world are buying a $499 console?

It's worth noting that while Xbox 360 cleaned up in the US (and other English speaking countries) it was beaten pretty soundly by the PS3 everywhere else in the world. Especially in Asia.

I could be wrong on this or it could be quite outdated but I seem to remember something about how in Europe, the 360 controlled the UK and a couple smaller places but PS3 won everywhere but France. And they were basically tied in France.

That's how the 360 rushed out to a massive lead at the start of the gen but now at the end here it and the PS3 are basically tied worldwide at around 77 million units. (Wii is around 100 million.)

Going back a generation the PS2 did 154 million (so 360+PS3, not really...since some of those casual PS2 owners went to the Wii), Xbox did 24 million, GameCube did 22 million and Dreamcast did 11 million. (And probably everyone in the latter bought at least one of the other consoles.)

...YES THIS IS FAKE, I honestly don't know why I am posting it, see if I get a rise out of Leftos maybe? Sad to think that this is somewhat believable.

Due to the way Microsoft has handled the Xbox One console policies, games can not be activated if you live in an unsupported region. This also appears to be true within the US where only certain states will be able to enjoy the Xbox One at launch. We spoke with a Microsoft representative about this decision.

“The states that will not be able to use the Xbox One have been determined by Microsoft to not be prime locations to launch the system; therefore, they will not be supported at launch,” said the representative, “However, all states will be able to use the Xbox One by the year 2015. This date is not final.”

We asked the representative why some states were chosen over others to which she replied, “Some factors Microsoft put into consideration included demand, the amount of complaints received from each state, internet quality, obesity rates, amount of Xbox Live users, quality of life and more. It was well thought out research and we stand by our decision to launch with only 21 states.”

“If you live in one of the states that unfortunately will not receive Xbox One support at launch, here are a few suggestions on what you can do,” said the representative, “You can relocate to a state that has Xbox One support, you can purchase an Xbox 360 which has no location restrictions, or you can wait patiently until support arrives at your state by 2015 or later.”

The following is the list of states that will support the Xbox One at launch:

Sadly, you're kind of inclined to believe it at first, given everything else that's happened.

That was exactly the point I made on tonight's SimNation Radio Show. With everything Microsoft has done and said (through PR releases or the mouths of Adam Orth or Don Mattrick), we can't even separate satire from reality anymore.

I don't understand their marketing strategy at all. I knew MS had their faults and all but this is just bananas.

Also about them putting this new idea of DRM on the game publishers;

EA did not lobby for Xbox One’s used game DRM

Disrupting the popular “EA and Microsoft are in cahoots to ruin used games” narrative haunting comment threads everywhere, EA chief operating officer Peter Moore has said EA had nothing to do with the Xbox One’s licensing policies and hasn’t even figured out whether to get involved.

“EA has never had a conversation, and I have been present at all of them, with all of the manufacturers, saying you must put a system in place that allows us to take a piece of the action or even stop it. Absolutely incorrect.”

Sounds like they have nvidia cards (7XX or Titan) in there lol

Xbone is supposed to be equivalent to a Radeon 7790.
