i will be surprised if they dont change up a few things before launching after this. E3 will be very telling i think for them

I read one theory that Microsoft is doing this on purpose so when they "compromise on it" people will praise them for listening to their fans while if they had announced the "compromise from the start" we'd all be pissed.

Interesting, the supposed "New Coke" strategy. It might be giving them too much credit, though.

qballer's quotes weren't too clear with that. If then, I don't see anything wrong with it as long as this isn't the way Xbox One is headed to. Companies apply for patent for pretty much anything in today's world anyways.

XBox Live Games won't be available on Xbox One
you have to play em on your 360.

I wasn't planning on getting rid of my 360 anyway, but Microsoft is just alienating gamers at every turn.

I read that games might be $10 more expensive, and that the consoles will retail for $400. I wonder what the manufacturing costs are per unit.

i have no problem paying extra for the bigger AAA games as long as they dont hold back content for DLC

Seems like Xbox One is weaker than PS4.

Xbox One - 1.2 Teraflops, DDR3 Ram

PS4 - 1.8 Teraflops, DDR5 Ram

Also, Patcher is saying the Xbone will sell for $400 and the PS4 for $350

Re: Xbox One Revealed

That's Gddr5 ram for the ps4 which is a variant of DDR3 ram used in graphics cards. Higher memory bandwidth but higher latency. Also, the XOne has 32 mb of sRAM, whatever that is going to mean. 5gb of ram will be available for the XOne games, 7 gb for the PS4 games.

Furthermore, the additional 32 GB SRAM on the Xbox One may not do much for Microsoft’s next-generation console in providing extra processing speed and power, according to PC-Tablet.

It was noted some time ago that the Xbone wasn't as powerful. 50% fewer shader units, the GPU can only max at 90%, etc.

Microsoft apparently designed the Xbone more around multitasking media center concepts. Then Sony dropped in an extra 4GB GDDR5 and was apparently more willing to pay for a less stripped down GPU. So it seems, on paper anyhow, that multiplats will reverse from last time around.

Microsoft still has way more money and more of a willing mentality to throw money at third party exclusives though.

Same thing with PS4. The architecture is too different, they'd have to rework every game or create some kind of emulator. Both companies have no interest in the latter after their last stab at it.

To maintain the architecture lands you in a WiiU situation where you run into all sorts of practical limits and come up short of seven year old technology with modernized components.

And all the games come with the console on release day.

Gaikai was the "solution" for playing PS3 games on the new console. iirc, same with the PS2 and PS1 games.

I really don't mind DLC addons after the main story. What pisses me off is things like LA Noire when you get the DLC and its incorporated into the main storyline where you meet new characters during them. Or Tiger Woods where DLC courses are built into the season. Or "speed up" DLC. anything along those lines bother me.

When the DLC is worth it and affordable, I have no problem. When I picked up Borderlands 2 season pass for 10 bucks, thats the type of price and amount of content I'd like to see if DLC is a must.

So...now sounds like there are yield problems with eSRAM so Microsoft is downclocking the GPU. In some cases "quite significant" performance decreases. (down to 800/900 glfops?)

MS was way behind with Xbone and apparently rushed things after PS4 was shown off.

MS not expected to release any tech specs (ala Nintendo) because it's likely compares unfavorably.

And they just cancelled a post-E3 media roundtable event.

Will sell a hundred million units.
