The AI produced some very annoying passes during the game I must say. I tried a few times to not be involved in the offense and just let the other players do their own thing, but it didn't really work. I guess that's why Durant ended up having so many assists.

The MVP thing was weird as well. The POTG sequence near the end showed Al Jefferson, but LeBron got the trophy at the end. Also I think Durant was the real POTG, but his team lost so he wasn't considered.

I guess I'll keep this going for another year then.

Might be a week or so before I pick this up though as I just bought FIFA 13. Should be interesting though as I was just reaching the trade deadline. :cheeky:

I don't know how you Live people do it (you and badreligion) with such better 2K games being released, and even with 2K13 coming shortly. It's not a bad thing, in fact it's impressive.

Yep ^

But also I just like the games that EA Sports make better. I've always preferred their FIFA series over PES. And seeing as Live 10 is the latest basketball game from them, I'll just keep playing it until a newer version comes out.

Nets bring in Wallace as Houston give rookie his chance

Image

New Jersey have today further strengthened their claim as serious contenders by acquiring veteran swingman Gerald Wallace from Houston.
The deal was agreed upon last night and approved by league officials today. Youngsters Sam Robinsen and Cesar Carlos will also join the Nets.
Houston in return will receive expiring veterans Sam Young, Lamar Odom, Tayshaun Prince, Tony Allen and the Nets' 2014 first round draft pick.

Shipping out Wallace frees up a starting spot for this year's 3rd overall pick Lucian Hill. He has great potential but hasn't had consistent playing time.
The 24 year old will now get his chance to pair up with last season's top pick Jan Richards. Rockets officials are obviously hoping they will gel quickly.
Even if they are getting on in years, adding four solid players to their bench will help with depth. Odom in particular will fill a big hole in their rotation.
With only $13m in guaranteed contracts next season the Rockets could be a big player in free agency, hoping to add quality around Richards and Hill.
This season is almost a write-off for them anyway as they are sitting third from bottom in their conference with a disappointing 19-31 record.

New Jersey now have a natural wing player to add to their already impressive super-team. He could be the piece that makes them champions.
He joins what is now the most impressive starting line-up in the league. Although the Heat, Thunder, Bulls and Knicks would argue that point.
With Howard and Nene controlling the paint and Bryant and Williams patrolling the backcourt, Wallace will be under less pressure to score big.
The eastern conference is arguably the tougher half of the competition now with four legitimate contenders and several really strong teams.
Case in point is the fact that the Nets are only in fifth place at the moment with a 28-21 record. They could shoot up quickly though after this.

Image

Houston receive
Sam Young - 28 - SF - $854k - 1 year (74)
Lamar Odom - 34 - PF - $1.26m - 1 year (72)
Tayshaun Prince - 33 - SF - $1.26m - 1 year (70)
Tony Allen - 32 - SG - $1.26m - 1 year (70)
Nets' 2014 first round pick

Projected line-up:
DeAndre Jordan - Chuck Hayes - Lucian Hill - Jan Richards - Jrue Holiday
Bench options:
Tony Allen, Tayshaun Prince, DeMarcus Nelson, Sam Young, Lamar Odom

Image

New Jersey receive
Gerald Wallace - 31 - SF - $7.51m - 1 year (90)
Sam Robinsen - 25 - C - $1.15m - 2 years (55)
Cesar Carlos - 20 - C - $1.15m - 2 years (54)

Projected line-up:
Dwight Howard - Nene - Gerald Wallace - Kobe Bryant - Deron Williams
Bench options:
Steve Nash, AJ Price, Tim Duncan, Jason Kapono, Dirk Nowitzki

I like the deal, it's the classic "moving a veteran whose time with a team has come to an end to give the young guy a shot" type of deal, like the Sonics trading Xavier McDaniel for Eddie Johnson back in the day to free up the power forward spot for Shawn Kemp. Given what's happened this offseason, I'd say continuing to stockpile veterans is definitely in the Nets' MO too.

Yeah, it's always good to have new players coming through. There aren't that many generated players that are highly rated in this game. Probably less than 10 that have overall ratings of 80+ (From a draft pool of 240 players).

Ratings wise it's probably a bit of a lopsided trade, but I figured getting Wallace to the Nets would add a bit of realism. I like to include real life trades in this game whenever it's possible. I know this isn't a real life trade, but it achieves a real life result (Wallace to the Nets).

Besides, it saves Houston from offering him like $16m per season for 4 years in free agency next season. It gives them a better opportunity to rebuild, without wasting money on a 31 year old. :)

Indeed, there's that too. Those Nets are a little more stacked, though I reckon if he could make it happen, Mikhail Prokhorov would gladly pay those salaries. ;)

Trade week recap: Busy as usual

Image

This time every year teams gamble on deals, whether they are pushing for a championship or simply gearing up for a rebuild of their roster.
It was no different this season and there were even a few big names moving teams. Perhaps the biggest was former Spurs guard Tony Parker.
The Frenchman was acquired by the Knicks, just a day after they also landed all-star Ben Gordon from Detroit. Two amazing deals for them.
Both of these moves are seen by experts as an instant response to New Jersey getting Gerald Wallace from Houston just a few days earlier.
The Rockets shipped Wallace out to give recent high draft pick Lucian Hill a chance to be a starter and get another first round pick.
They are planning to completely overhaul their playing roster in next season's free agency period, with only $13m in guaranteed contracts.
Miami and Chicago will have to look over their shoulders now as these two Atlantic division super-teams will be pushing hard for top seed.

Elsewhere, the Celtics were involved in a couple of deals which saw them acquire forward Brandon Bass and swingman Courtney Lee.
They got Bass in a three-way trade with the Grizzlies and Magic. It saw Brandan Wright, Von Wafer and Jamario Moon move to Orlando.
Whilst Memphis received forwards Jason Thompson and Raphael Armstrong, as well as young guard Eric Bledsoe from the Magic.
It's the latest attempt by Boston to assemble a competitive team and convince star Rajon Rondo to re-sign with them next season.
They have already re-acquired center Kendrick Perkins earlier in the season and hope Bass and Lee can improve the team further.

Atlanta trading away Parker for Conley was a typical move to sure up their future as Parker was expiring and 5 years older.
Conley, Thaddeus Young, Marco Belinelli and Tyler Hansbrough are all in the prime of their careers, helping their playoff window.
David West and Joe Johnson are getting on in years and will likely only contibute for the 2 years they have left on their current deals.
Detroit decided to cash in on the 30 year old Gordon who was an all-star this season and will look to build around Gallo and Lopez.
Both are 25 and will be solid players for them. The Pistons will also potentially have plenty of wage room to work with next year.

I thought about trading Hibbert as he has been a little bit disappointing, but I decided to stick with him. Plus he's only been on my team for like 6 months.

I was going to do some more real life deals too (Bynum to 76ers, Iggy to Nuggets, Afflalo to Magic etc.). But I figured that it's only worth doing them if it fits in with the story of the dynasty. Iguodala has been traded a couple of times recently and I didn't want to move him again. And Dwight already made his big move on this game and it was to the Nets.

Another competitive one there. A bit unexpected to see Courtney Lee posting those kind of numbers, but Rondo's numbers were actually pretty realistic, not bad for a game with some point guard domination issues. Solid victory with the usual suspects having an impact.

Thunder aim for revenge against Heat tomorrow night

Image

When these teams met last month it was the Heat that grabbed the bragging rights. The Thunder will be looking to even the ledger tomorrow.
The Heat ran out 130-124 winners in Miami on January 4th despite Kevin Durant having a massive night. He scored 46 points in the losing side.
It was seen as a big test for Miami, only a few weeks after they had traded superstar guard Dwyane Wade back to his hometown Chicago Bulls.
Two of the players they got in the Wade deal played a huge role in their win. JR Smith and Raymond Felton combined for 61 points and 15 assists.
Since that game the Thunder have gone 20-2, whilst the Heat have a similarly impressive 19-4 record. Both teams currently sit on 41 wins.
Durant has been in amazing form since these teams last met. He is averaging 33 points a game in 2014 and scored 32 in the all-star game.
Tomorrow night's game promises to be another epic encounter between these two perennial conference-leading rivals in Oklahoma City.

If I end up playing in the Finals against the Heat again this season I might consider something new. Whether that be a new Dynasty on Live 10 or seeing what 2k13 is like, I don't know.

I'm sure once the NBA season starts I'll see Westbrook and Ibaka etc. playing I'll start to miss having them on my team.
