Pierce for Chandler and the Number 3 Pick?

Wed Jun 23, 2004 12:04 pm

Apparently The Celtics are looking to trade Paul Pierce to the Bulls for Tyson Chandler and the number 3 pick in the draft. With that pick the Celtics will most likely select Ben Gordon.

I got the info from Ben at .org

I honestly think the Celtics wouldn't be dumb enough to do that. There has to be another player included in this trade from the Bulls. Maybe Crawford. Pierce is still pretty young (a top 20 player in the league) and can carry a team. Even though Gordon has potential, he hasn't proven anything yet. Chandler is just a project. He's shown flashes but he never lives up to it.

how would this work salary-wise? If i were boston and they added crawford i would do it no question. As is i would consider it, lets not fool ourselves paul pierce is not going to take this team anywhere but the lottery (probably not the lottery exactly, considering it is the east, but you get the point).

Danny Ainge is really really screwing Boston over.

yeah i don't know what danny ainge is up to.
it looks like he is really rebuilding that franchise.
i don't know if he's looking for the next larry bird or john havlichek or bill russel.

but if the bulls got their hands on pierce, they would be one hell of a team.
(if curry improves)

I've also heard Eddie Robinson is part of the deal.

I haven't really liked any of the potential trades involving the number three pick, but this one isn't so bad. Chandler has a lot of potential but that is just potential until it is realised; health is also an issue. I certainly don't mind seeing E-Rob leave town, and the number three pick is worth dealing for an established all-star. Pierce would provide Chicago with a scoring threat who can also play adequate D. I like it much better than trading the third pick for Al Harrington.

I don't think Boston would agree to the deal, though. Ainge has made some questionable moves since joining the Celtics' front office, but I don't think he's too willing to move Pierce for Chandler, Robinson and the third pick in this year's draft.

Curry isn't a complete bust. The problem is his motivation. He has the tools to be a 20 and 10 player, but right now you only see such performances from him every now and again.
