Fri Jun 11, 2004 5:18 pm

He said that the NBA doesnt include him in anything

Sounds like he's real jealous and angry!

Heh... too bad Darko isn't American

He could start by not taking 30 shot each game :)

Good point.....I am not a Carmelo fan because I am a LeBron fan but he does shoot a lot. If he cut down on all the shots and made higher percentage (which he does not do when I've seen him) he would be better off :P

Ehehe, the seemingly humble and not very bothered with these type of things Melo isn't too happy. Oh well, it's life Melo, shit happens.

Tch, childeshness, "I'm not included at anything, I don't like this party" ugh, shutup. :?

I think it would more understandable if he had been in the league five, ten years and was still being snubbed, but he's going to have plenty of chances to make All-Star teams and receive other honours. He's obviously entitled to be disappointed, but if I were him, I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think he will be snubbed for too long; a lot of people seem to already consider him to be the future of the NBA along with LeBron James.

Except he takes less shots than Lebron, and also shoots better :P

unless your name is isiah thomas dont whine about getting snubbed :D seriously, the guy hasnt done anything and he's expecting respect already. The only way you get respect is with a ring, until youve won it all you're just another good player.

anyway, while we're on the topic of respect.........

bill russell is another example of a legitimate player who doesnt get enough respect. Most people dont put him as their greatest all time centre, but listen, when wilt averaged 50 ppgs and 26 rpgs a game guess who was league mvp that season? Bill Russell. Believe it or not basketball is a team game, and bill russell is the quintessential team player. He tops my list of great centres.

i think isiah deserves a little more respect too. The greatest point ever is obviously magic, but after that its a crap shoot. I think i'd go with isiah and cousy tied at 2 with stockton a close 3. yeah, yeah stockton has the records..... show me the rings. I thought so.

And mikan deserves more respect too

i easily see pippen fading from basketball lore somewhat in the years to come because his numbers arent historical. He is someone who is going to deserve more respect i think.

of the current generation of players only shaqille o'neal and tim duncan deserve any respect. kobe and garnett are borderline, and therell be a bunch of others once they retire to a degree (does kidd deserve to be mentioned with the likes of magic and isiah if he doesnt win a championship? i dont think so. How about iverson? etc. etc.)

theirs a ton more people who are underrated, but oh well, im lazy.

melo doesnt deserve any respect. yet.

Sun Jun 13, 2004 2:16 pm

it's true that it's still early for melo to receive those spotlights, cause he's still young, but i still think he's underrated.
There is reason why he takes 30 shots in a game and Lebron does not.
Lebron played considerable games this season playing point guard the start of the season and when McInnis was injured. Plus, there was ricky davis at the start of the season. But for the nuggets their 1st scoring option is MELO. they don't have any other players who can create his own shot.
Andre Miller? no he's not a scorer even though he's capable of knocking down open shots and penetrating thru defenders.
Voshon Lenard? He's just a shooter. But he can't create his own shot.
Nene? come on
Camby? he's a defensive type of player.

Also, he did shoot terribly before the all star break, but after the all star break, he was on fire. his field goal percentage went up form high 30's to low 40's. I'm sure of it.

Sun Jun 13, 2004 6:46 pm

Actually Lebron takes more shots than Melo per game, but it's true about his FG% improving after the break, but I think Lebron's did too.
Andre Miller can create his own shot, and even though Voshon is more of a shooter so can he, I saw him on the Raptors, Earl Boykins and Rodney White can also create their own shots.

Not too sure if that's Dre, he's a post up PG and a slashing PG, and is a very good passer, but he is definatley a scorer. Shooting isn't really his thing, outside tha lane that is

Mon Jun 14, 2004 11:35 am

Well...the Nuggets actually admitted that Melo had a horrible, horrible shot selection but apparently by the play-offs he was playing smarter ball

And who gotten closer to that ring? Melo did
Does that mean he should get more respect than Bron...

Mon Jun 14, 2004 5:13 pm

Perhaps Melo isn't getting enough respect for the season he's had individually as well as Denver's success in getting back to the playoffs, but the Nuggets had a much better team than Cleveland this past year. With all the hype surrounding LeBron, not to mention the fact he managed to live up to some of it, he's bound to get more attention.

Mon Jun 14, 2004 8:28 pm

Well...Melo should get as much respect as Lebron...

I wonder what People would think of him/how he would be doing if he had entered the league straight out of high school

I read somewhere (Maybe SLAM) he was going to until Yao and Jay Williams entered the Draft...
