I want to know where the Laker fans are.

I assume they'll be out in force if the Lakers can right their ship long enough to get another win in the series, but until then I guess I won't hold my breath.

A nice convincing victory for the Pistons! Rip was at his best. The Pistons were all charged up, going for every rebound, loose ball. But, don't count the Lakers out yet. I see them coming out strong on Sunday.

GO PISTONS!!!

Given the time difference, many of the guys aren't available to post straight away. I'm sure they'll add their two cents in due time. :)

There seem to be plenty of Piston supporters posting...I don't see why there would be an exception for Laker fans.

Oh well, I'll just wait and see.

Yep, that's what REAL, die hard fans, do to support their team.

Laker fans would never do anything like that because they would be too busy getting hopped up on designer drugs in some Beverly Hills mansion and then they'd probably snap out of their high just in time to grab the keys to their Porsche and get down to Staples just in time to slide into the courtside seats that daddy bought them.

Of course that's a dramatization, but I couldn't resist.

Damn...wat can i say? Ouch??

The Lakers got hammered. I don't have anything to say but we really need to respect these Pistons and actually play. From what I've read is that the Lakers were playing with no spirit or hustle and Kobew was trying to be too much of a hero!

Kobe- he's great but he hogs it too much and thats his weakness! Dribbling into double-teams doesnt make you great! Tell him that!

If LA wants to win the seires...they need to play as if they really want that ring! I know that Malone, Fish and George all are hurting...but Payton, Kobe and Co. need to step up!

C'mon boys... as I've said before...you guys could have got into the record books as a great team but if you keep putting in a mediocre performance you'll be in for a different reason!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And by the way- Phil tried to explain why Kobe shot so bad- he blamed the arena and the hoops... I remember that there was some conspiracy about the Piston's hoops in the early 90's... cause MJ couldnt shoot on them. Is this whats happening to Kobe? He's too much like MJ that hge can't shoot against the Pistons???

Maybe not- I think I think too much!

The Lakers HAVE BEEN TRYING. I wish Lakers fans would realize that, and admit that a good game by Detroit is going to get it done versus a good game by L.A. in this series.

I firmly believe that the Lakers aren't going to outhustle the Pistons in any of these games, so they are going to have to outplay them, which they haven't done to this point.

The Lakers just need the Pistons to play sub-par 3 out of the next 4 games, which obviously isn't likely, but anything is possible.

Fri Jun 11, 2004 5:06 pm

Well, if it makes you feel any better...

Detroit is playign better basketball right now....they are the better team at the moment....

I'm not trying to be a dick by the way. Just trying to get Detroit credit where it is due

Fri Jun 11, 2004 5:27 pm

Hey- I gave them credit already before!

I think LA has to play as a team and want it real bad just as the pistons do.
I remember these guys in the regular season they already looked like a college team (since sheed came in) like yelling everytime someone scored...
Lakers have to be humble (is that correct?) and play their best.
It will at least take that to beat detroit and still they are playing so well now...
Anyways i said lakers 4-2, it could still happen :P

Im no laker fan im just saying what i expected before the series started.
Of course now it will probably not happen but you never know...

As i said before i still think LA can win and i wouldn't get to excited like that it's still shaq and kobe (and phil) they are facing who have 3 titles even though pistons are the favourites now.

Fri Jun 11, 2004 9:03 pm

I still reakon we can win the title!

Go LA!

Fri Jun 11, 2004 9:52 pm

well that's will be happen if u understimated ur opponent go PISTONS u can win this series

am drunk again )

I would like to see your high school team play against the pistons

And Ben hit the ground numerous times because shaq used his power.

Oh yeah, and what was Fisher thinking of trying to dunk over Okur :?: :?:

But it has to said, the pistons were better in game 3, but don't worry, game 4 is going to the lakers, then pistons prolly take game 5, lakers game 6 and then we're going to have a real thriller in game 7 where I hope the lakers will win it in the end.
(if kobe plays a little better of course :? and if their other players step up, because Payton wants a ring, but he has to work for it goddammit.)
That would be a great finals, more nba for me to watch :P

Fri Jun 11, 2004 11:01 pm

lakers will win the next 3 games straight bottom line :!:

Yeah, they were staying at a hotel in Birmingham (one that I've actually stayed at once or twice) and around 11pm - midnight, a couple hundred fans got together on the rooftop of the building across the street, yelling and screaming with no end. I wish I would've known about it beforehand - I would've gone and helped out  I'm surprised that it took 2 hours for the police to decide to close the road, though. And I wonder if the Lakers were really bothered by it... I mean, it couldn't have been THAT loud...

havasufalls wrote:lakers will win the next 3 games straight bottom line

Man, that's what everyone was saying before the series even started. You guys just won't give up and concede that this will be a good series, not a domination by the Lakers. If they do end up winning it's gonna be in 7, as I can't see them taking two games here in Detroit.

I'm so disappointed about that Kobe shot still. It could have been 3-0 if not for him :( I'm still gonna stick to my 4-3 Pistons prediction, as it probably won't be as easy to win any more games in this series as it was to win Game 3.

Oh, and how come no one has said much about Lindsey Hunter yet? I think he was one of the big keys to the win in game 3. I'm really starting to respect his defense more (well, it's always been good...), I mean, that block on Fisher's jumpshot was excellent for a guard. And shortly after that, Hunter came down and made a beautiful layup through the entire Lakers defense. It was good stuff. (Y)

And one more interesting stat: Rip Hamilton is the leading offensive rebounder in the series so far with 11.

It's not ironic, we now know why these guys never got ringson their own. They choke when it's all on the line. The reason Malone and Payton will get rings will be because of Shaq and Kobe.

Bullshit. The 95-96 Sonics and 97-98 Jazz would do very well, possibly beat the Three-Peat Lakers in a seven game series.

Malone and Payton didn't choke; Magic Johnson didn't choke; Clyde Drexler didn't choke; Charles Barkley didn't choke. They all lost to Michael Jordan, as would Kobe and Shaq if they faced up against the Bulls of the 90s.

It's not choking when you're just not as good(though they're still great).

When you get stripped in the final minutes of the 1998 NBA finals thats choking.

You know you'd love to live like that (well except for the drugs part) ;). The reason sports fans down here are so laid back is because there is so much shit to do in Southern California. There is plenty of entertainment down here and sports is a small part of that. We live in the freaking entertainment capital of the world for god sakes. This is L.A. not Green Bay Wisconsin, this isn't Sacremento, this isn't Utah, or any other city where there isn't much to do. Laker fans are spoiled, they expect to win, there is no need to go out and harass the other team because they don't matter. All that matters is having another parade downtown.

Sat Jun 12, 2004 4:09 am

Although I want the Pistons to win, you gotta feel bad for Malone and Payton so far. Payton is not getting the playing time...he's just not geared for the triangle offense. Payton needs the ball to do his thang. Malone is not 100% with a bum knee so he can't contribute the way he can.
But, who knows what will happen next game.

Go Pistons!
