Glad to hear your boss relented and showed a little more understanding. Hope you and your family are doing OK.

No, it's just some policy crap where he needed to know how much time and I was vague, but the initial conversion had him comparing what happened when his mother died, saying that what helped him was going back to work to take his mind off of it, and taking my mind off of it was not something I wanted.

I agree with you man I just don't want to forget about it when it happens to me.

Is it just me, or has the average IQ around here gone through the floor in the past couple of weeks? I'm not sure I can stomach reading the NBA section anymore...

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

I guess it depends on how low you set your floor.

Ordered some DVDs (because nowhere here sells Verbatim DL Inkjet Printable discs anymore for some stupid reason) and DVD cases online. Order included two 5-disc cases, and I only received one. On top of that, they left it at my neighbour's front door despite the fact that a) I don't live there and b) as far as I know, they should've needed it to be signed for. That said, I'd rather they leave it there, allowing him to bring it over upon arriving home, than leave a 'we missed you, you're going to have to come in and pick it up' card despite the fact that I was home when they delivered it. So there is that.

After the fiasco with the Tigers jersey and having my card declined (because I'd had to have it replaced, and the bank needed to see photo ID before activating my new card but didn't bother to actually tell me this), I'm really not seeing what's so great about the whole online shopping thing. It's also apparently very easy to accidentally order 10x15 photo paper, instead of A4 photo paper. Or so I hear.

Lower prices (in some cases) and the ability to buy stuff that isn't ready available in your local stores are the biggest benefits that spring immediately to mind. Having said that, if I'd had the bad luck that you've had with it, I'd be turned off the idea as well.

Lol. It's the playoffs time that lures lots of bandwagoners and casual fans. I don't think it's a bad thing for the forum regardless. But I'd like to see some of them stay around even after. I mean the forum has gone quieter each year(maybe revived EA live series will help). The regulars in NBA section are pretty much me, grin, drew, and benji these days and that's not much of fun. xP

Well yeah. I didn't actually mean that, I was just expressing frustration with my recent issues.

Picspam, lack-of-understanding-of-probability tables, assertions that Durant always hits game-winning shots and therefore his doing so is in no way remarkable, and assertions that a woman pressing charges on Hill for assaulting her is only doing it for the money is no fun either.

I am FUCKING DONE with my semester :)

Had a lot of issues with open office and Google Documents and converting to .doc files with some of my finals, very frustrating stuff when a single APA or spelling mistake automatically reduces the grade to a B at best.

A little stressed, so lets sleep for 5 hours, wake up, work for 12 hours, come home, sleep, wake up, work for another 8, and then finally celebrate.

LibreOffice has made strides, but when you need things in Word's exact format due to archaic standards then there really isn't a proper replacement available.

Well, I have a new French president who has about as much charisma as a damp rag and who's going to turn my country into an even more shameful socialist mess than it already is. I guess I can't really feel too concerned since I live 6000 miles away anyway, but it's still pretty depressing...

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

At least he isn't the accused rapist. Or the guy who wants 100% taxes on successful people. Or the racist Nazi-lite. Or...

I wish our electoral system had such diversity.

Also,

Treading dangerous ground my friend. Next you'll be trapped in benji's orbit.

And then there's the local Presidential race!

It's true that we do get quite a wide array of candidates to choose from, from the straight up fascist to the kolkhoz-supporting commie...

I know, I was realizing it after I posted this! I feel strange...
France and the US are so radically different when it comes to polictics, the left/right spectrum here really can't compare to the left/right spectrum over there, especially when you remove from the equation such elements as religion, homeland security, weapon control, and so on.

I'm not sure it is. It's because we only have two parties (and the laws are written to only allow those two parties), France has a chance for the other parties. Consider say Ron Paul, he could run and get maybe 15-20% to try for the run-off. Here, all he would do is doom the GOP.

So both Dems and GOP fight over the increasingly statist "moderates" who hate people who don't do what they say and need to be punished for wanting to do what they want.

Though France isn't drastically different when you do the run-off. The National Front, Left Front, Democratic Movement are protest votes and then you pick from the two "official" parties.
