Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I'm in the south. Southern Baptists trump baptist in crazy.
I've been told I'm going to hell for not trying to convert my jewish side of the family and my hindu best friends. That belief system is what turned me atheist. Alot more agnostic now but the kinda shit Lean is talking about is why i began to hate religion in general and didnt understand it until college when i needed somewhere to turn when my grandfather died. I turned to alcohol and escapism instead of jesus though. It worked out alright.
I'll see you both in hell. We'll have to play NBA Showdown '94 for eternity. And i'll shoot 3s with dell curry every play.

I still say that religion is just the mechanism. The puritan mentality didn't come from the dominant religion, it caused the dominant religion.
Look at Catholics and abortion/contraception (since it's in the news because people are abject morons) they don't give a shit because they want the benefits that derive from "betraying" their religion.
A lot of churches, especially those who dominate one region are SOCIAL CLUBS first and a rejection of them is less an affront to Jesus than it is an affront of the community. If the church was Jewish or Islamic or Darkoist (the one true religion) or the Spider-Gods anyone who comes in and rejects the church is going to be looked down on.
Hating religions is stupid, hating people for believing them is as well. A large swath of the public believes that we should be enslaved just because they want things they don't have. That's maybe a good reason to hate them, but I won't.
You don't counter their religion out of anger, but out of interest. You question it. You want to know if it is true.
If they turn you away because you don't accept on blind faith their claims, then what is their justification? Why not believe what anyone says? There is nothing wrong with faith, but if it doesn't take, then accepting what others demand surely is worse than not accepting. Are we not supposed to have free will?
If God wants us, why wouldn't he let us know? If He can make others see the light, why does He need messengers?
What does God need with a Starship?

No, fuck you, I'll make sweet love with Santorum before I play anything before Live 95 for eternity.

I don't want to listen to that deep-voiced guy reading the verses. It's creepy.
JaoSming wrote:Baptists can be fuckin' crazy depending on the church they go to...
I'm not generalizing but the church he goes to seems to be that way. I went there once and the feeling is either enlightening or weird. With people shouting "AMEN" to everything the pastor says. The pastor would implements a rule to close the gate when the mass starts and not let anyone in. And they say "AMEN." He was mad that the church's seats aren't filled and that the people should find a way to fill those rows. They say "AMEN".
The Methodist church that we used to attend to burned Santa Claus images years ago during the Christmas season.

Ditto, as I've said on the last page.
My family knows we are 'saved'. I believe I am saved, because I know I'm an ass most of my life and am opting to change because of the faith I believe I have. I pray for forgiveness and guidance every now and then. My brother still thinks we are not saved because we're not going to church.

I think this is the real question now, isn't it? Completely agree with Ben's post overall.

Turns out I'm one of the winners in Main Event's (Foxtel's PPV channel) WWE Ultimate Party contest. Free all-week access to the Wrestlemania events on Main Event, a $200 Coles Myer voucher, $20 iTunes voucher and a WWE cap. Not too shabby a prize pack.
Thu Mar 29, 2012 9:59 am

You win sir.
So it's a trip to WrestleMania then?
Thu Mar 29, 2012 10:03 am
No, just free access to the PPV and the replays all week, along with some other goodies. Suits me.
Thu Mar 29, 2012 10:05 am
Andrew you bastard.
Edited. Didn't see the post before this. I blame Batman hacking my internets and slowing it down.

That's going to be hard to do through a TV screen but I'll see what I can do.

nice one, that's a good $50 or however much it usually is saved

Just checked and it's $34.95, strangely enough we actually get them cheaper. Still, that's $34.95 that stays in my pocket, plus all the replays and such along with the gift cards. Works for me!

Three lucky folks sharing in it, apparently. No doubt prompting a reaction similar to this one:

Store Manager sucks ass at making schedules. How the fuck does he expect me to work six days this week, especially when it's a school week? Especially when I have three projects, and a calculus test this week?

I've never been taken too seriously (not really the tone of these forums to do so) and I'm sorry for making this post for what I'm sure if the millionth time but I'm sorry for or dragging my depression into this thread full of real problems actually worth discussing. I'll hopefully stay out of here from now on.

Get yourself some help, please.
Mon Apr 02, 2012 1:36 pm
Get outta this side of West Coast, Lamerock. It's the long rainy gloomy winter that makes a lot of people suffer from depression. I hear Seattle has high rate in suicidal due to the weather.
Mon Apr 02, 2012 1:37 pm
Agreed.
Tue Apr 03, 2012 1:34 am
It's true that weather can contribute in those cases, but I would mostly try to get some help or open up to somebody you feel you can confide in, whether a relative or friend. I was feeling depressed as hell last year since absolutely nothing was going my way, and for some reason I talked to my brother-in-law about it and it really helped.

Lamecock is a cool bro, just needs to watch some NewsRadio on YouTube. Or MST3K.
And buy me a PS3 so we can play Twisted Metal.
But definitely should not, NOT, EVER, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES watch the GiantBomb Twisted Metal Quick Look.
Because I'm well adjusted to their inability to figure out video games, but for self-declared Twisted Metal 2 fans to play the game like they do?
Lamrock doesn't need that right now.
No one does.
P.S. The future of business, hell, the future of this country is...computers.

Stop watching Blazers games Lamrock. Maybe Thunder games too. If you really must, make sure to watch a Bobcats game before watching the Blazers.
If you want I can send you a link to a site that has EXTREME IMAGES!
Just make sure you don't have a scumbag little brother to rat you out and whatever you do don't use your girlfriend's PDA to view and send the EXTREME IMAGES to you own e-mail. You're going to be booted off the swim team if that happens.
Also chug down energy drinks whenever you use a PC, better yet keep a drawer full of them energy drinks to keep you wired every time you cyber surf.
Most important is never ever turn down Monica unless you want her do some self-inflicted beating and get beaten up by the boys she hangs out with because they thought it was you that did that to her. She is a wild, EXTREME, and crazy bitch.
Or you can take up bowling and be good at it. You'll be so good that local basketball star will ask for your help in teaching him how to bowl so you, him, and the rest of the team can win against your community's crosstown rivals.

How could you recommend something that has Andy Dick in it?!

Because the shows hysterical despite his involvement.

So if Hitler is still alive and part of the cast of Arrested Development you would still find the show hilarious?...
Oh wait...
I see your point...
Oh god that's awesome.
Tue Apr 03, 2012 8:21 am
or you can look at it as cancelling forces
Andy Dick=Force of Pure Evil
Phil Hartman=force of pure win.
They cancel out, making the rest all profit
