Welcome to oldness.

Office schedule is from 8:30am to 5:30pm, I wake up by 4:00am to get myself food for breakfast (and lunch for that matter), leave home before 6:00am; I then get home by 8pm. I then sleep after eating dinner. :|

So basically, no time for everything else.

That really sucks ass. I've worked nine hour shifts a few times before, and they've been pretty brutal to me. How long are your breaks/lunch periods (if you get them)? Have you also tried moving closer to your office? If there was less travel time you wouldn't have this eat, sleep, work kind of life.

Try working 11 hour shifts almost every business day...

9 hours including the 1 hour lunch break (forgot to mention that). I was considering moving to an apartment close to where I work, but after computing what would be my expenses if that happens, I'll be much bankrupt.

And I thought my work schedule is bad. :shifty:

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Thu Mar 08, 2012 11:00 pm

Try doing all that overnight on third shift graveyard and then complain. Everybody has "9 hour shifts" if they include lunch on top of it.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:36 am

I am not a fan of graveyard shifts. I remember one time when I was at that shift, I had to take a nap inside the restroom.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:36 am

In theory I thought graveyard shifts were awesome, because I'm generally someone who sleeps through the day. But after a while of doing them, it really wore me down. Even with the amount of sleep I was getting, I could never get used to the lifestyle. Plus nobody has any regard for your routine when it's like that. I had a housemate who was unemployed and she would do shit like talk on speaker phone and watch Dr Phil and other attrocious daytime TV shows at the loudest volume she could.

Waking up to "I want you to change your life" every day definitely drove me nuts

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Sat Mar 10, 2012 5:19 am

Being the spineless person I am, right now all I can get is temporary cashiering work. It's not difficult and better than nothing (or nightshifts perhaps), but I feel like a piece of shit on the weeks (most of them) where I get like three hours. Should have been smarter and got a job in high school like Axel.

Now now Lamecock, it's not healthy living in regret and keep comparing yourself to others.
If the entire NLSC did that and compared ourselves to Badger we would all be depressed and boozing it up right now because the truth is Badger is that damn awesome.

Won a 3 point contest similar to the NBA 3 point contest at uni the other day, basically it was the same setup as in the 3 point contest, but we only had the college 3 point line. Managed to win it with a score of 22, not all that good, but considering the competition that I was up against, I won by a fair margin. The prize was a $100 gift voucher for JB-HiFi, so I am saving that for NBA Live 13 when it comes out. Hopefully on PC.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Noticed my YouTube account wasn't in "Good Standing" any more, so I looked through my 60 videos with content ID matches and "acknowledged" each copywrite match.....didn't do anything. Went through again and found the one video that was causing the bad standing for my account. In one of my unlisted real life videos that was transferred over from my Google Video account, I used the Duff Man theme for the bloopers part. NBC Universal made a claim on it and that was the huge issue, 5 seconds of Duff Man. Audioswap, taken care of, but bleh, so stupid.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:30 pm

I will rant. Sort of.

Our family believes in Jesus Christ. Myself included. My father is originally a Catholic, but had himself converted to Methodist Protestant as my mother (and the rest of her clan) are of that church. So by my understanding, we are Christian. And back in the day we rarely miss going to church every Sunday until the time we grew older. But we still live lives our normally, go to school, to work, do house chores, share my salary to the family, watch non-sensical TV shows, berate other people in social media etc.

Last year, my youngest brother (there are three of us, I am the middle kid) became a member of a Baptist church. He's been telling us that he had found his 'calling' on that church and decided to become a Baptist himself. I admire him for his religious ways, but he didn't change. He's still cold towards my parents (except for instances when he needs something from them), most of the time selfish, etc. While I still don't see anything wrong on being religious, until the time he invited us to a Bible study one Sunday night (I believe that was way back August last year).

He preached verses from the Bible, on how forgetful we are as people of God's unconditional love. Then my brother (who himself is unemployed up to now, but is a nursing board exam passer only awaiting for his professional license) told us (myself and my parents) that "how can you be Christians if you don't own a Bible? How come among of us, I am the only one who owns one yet I am jobless? How come you don't buy a Bible yet you earn from your jobs?"

I was about to explode but then I remembered that the point of that whole thing was to be solemn. I'd like to tell him that time that "If weren't for us, you won't be having any financial allowance, thus not allowing you to buy a Bible." He then went on saying that he wants us to be saved, that we should go to church regularly. That he doesn't care whether we go on some other church instead of that Baptist church he regularly goes on to.

Months later, I went to a church -- but to a Catholic church. He learned about it, and he questioned me about it.

I was thankful that my brother has found his purpose, but not like this. I do not want him to be a 'holier-than-thou' type of 'religious' person. He now questions the beliefs of other religions and sects and as an act of respect I just listen and not react.

Last Sunday night, my brother just arrived from church while the rest of us spent the day at home. My father fixed his garden, as its his usual Sunday activity, while my mother did some dresses as that's her business. I stayed at home to rest as it is my rest day. He led the prayer for dinner and said "forgive us if we chose to do other things first before serving You." It caught my ire but still, I chose to be quiet.

End rant.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:35 pm

You should have heeded your brother's advice and gotten a Bible.

Read it so you know which verses to counter his verses and make him stfu.

I recommend reading the chapters of Psalms. Haven't read it all but I think it has the most verses that would make you lay the smackdown. Though Psalms can simply be neutralized since it is the Old Testament. New Testament > Old Testament as most Bible brandishers say, even Catholic priests!

So just read the Gospels in the New Testament. You'll pick up something from JC to make him stfu. JC is smart. If you have no time to read the 4 Gospels, just read the Gospel of John. iirc he's the serious cat out of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

Also make a miniature bible that would fit in your Gundam models. Accessorize all your Gundams with bibles. That'll show your brother.

Since benji cares: http://christianity.about.com/od/practi ... ebible.htm
Philippines and Africa Residents.
GetYourFreeBible.com promises to send a New Testament Bible in the English, Tagalog of Hiligaynon language to anyone in the Philippines and Africa who cannot afford to purchase one. Requests are limited to one Bible per person. GetYourFreeBible.com will also take requests from small churches or ministries (Philippines & Africa only) who need Bibles for their ministry. And the best part? Absolutely no strings attached!

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Tue Mar 20, 2012 11:23 pm

FYI, I have a Bible app on my phone. And I read it, in fact I have a lot of verses bookmarked.

But for the heck of it, he shouldn't talk as if he's 'holier than thou'. It sickens me to hear him talk like that. I clearly remember how he sang (the Pinoy heavy metal band) Wolfgang songs when we watched their concert last year. Now he listens to Blacked Eye Peas. :(

While I don't really feel that we're losing a family member to his church, I just feel that he never puts to action whatever he preaches from the Book.

I've never seen one mod plastic plates and turn them into the Bible. But, good suggestion for a custom model.

It's not the religion.

It's his innate belief that he knows what's best for everyone and they should be forced to live as he says. But he can't impose that. Thankfully, god will punish them in the end.

Most humans believe a version of this.
Now he listens to Blacked Eye Peas. :(

And you care about his religious fetish when there's this?

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

Tue Mar 20, 2012 11:43 pm

That was one of my biggest concerns. He no longer listens to rock as much as before (all of us three brothers do), as he told me once that his churchmates 'may judge him' for what he listens to.

benji wrote:It's his innate belief that he knows what's best for everyone and they should be forced to live as he says.

It is the religion. Baptists can be fuckin' crazy depending on the church they go to, cause not all are like this but it sounds like he found a hardcore one. I never dealt with them before moving to Vermont but damn, the hollier-than-thou comes from the instructions that Baptists try and "save" everyone they can. Especially family and friends.

It's not going to get easier, it's not going to go away as long as he is a part of that particular Baptist church. Someone there is preaching to him that he must convert his family to the Baptist ideals, even if you are all fine people (which I know you are  ), or else you all are going to hell.

Speaking from experience, if he doesn't stop from you telling him to stop, then you are going to have a difficult time dealing with him.

JaoSming wrote:It is the religion.

Nope.

And I know you know better than this. Because you have met Vegans and Greens and PETA types and Obama supporters and people who worship plastic instruments and Celtic fans and on and on.

Look what I said:

Same thing. Yet not exclusive to Baptists.

Blaming the religion can't account for those in the religion who don't want to dictate what others do.

Ron Paul is a Baptist.

Re: Dear LiveJournal,

I also said
JaoSming wrote:Baptists can be fuckin' crazy depending on the church they go to, cause not all are like this but it sounds like he found a hardcore one

Maybe its because I am surrounded by the "hardcore ones" up here, but I know that the people who have tried to save me were instructed to do so by their preachers.

I don't want to insinuate that all Baptists are like this, and I don't think that someone who is trying to save others is only in that sect, I'm just relating personal experience to the same issue Lean is having.

We're both right, no matter what basketball teams or plastic game controllers we worship.

Read? READ? What a loser Bible app is that?
The only Bible apps that you should have are audio Bible apps. Let the app do the reading and you just listen. Like it was originally when people listened to the preaching of JC. Revelations is more fun with an audio Bible!
I wish there were an audio Bible app where you can select the voice of Morgan Freeman/Patrick Stewart/William Shatner/Christopher Walken/Willem Dafoe.
