Kobe, T-Mac, or the King?

Postby beau_boy04 on Wed Jun 02, 2004 2:25 pm

If I was to choose, I'd Lebrom James just because of his age. Kobe and T Mac are older and Lebrom doesnt seem to have a problem sharing the ball 5.9 apg in his rookie season explain that. I think they all entered the league in their 17-18s. James joined NBA legends Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history to average more than 20 points, five rebounds and five assists per game in their rookie season. Oscar R, only player to averaged a triple double in a single season and you all know MJ. I can't wait to see what Lebrom has to offer us.

man i can't believe i am saying this, but i would say Kobe.
LeBron I'm not too sure on yet. He isn't a point guard that they have been trying to let him play, he is more of a small forward and can take it up the court like Grant Hill use to do. I'm not completely sold on this kid yet, bu this rookie year was pretty good.

Tracy McGrady...a month or 2 ago I would of picked him, but he is just full of ego and you shouldn't have negative people around your basketball team especially the leader.

Kobe...well he is doing ggreat with the lakers, of course he has Shaq. At times it looks like Kobe wants to take over a game but just shoots bad shots. But I notice Kobe can dish the ball around pretty good and his defense is better than McGrady's I think.
Thats the difference between them I think, defense Kobe>McGrady on that I think..

Tough choice...I would probably go with James not only because of his age but also the promise he showed in his rookie season. He's going to be a great, great player.

Kobe has the killer instinct, the other three have a long ways to show that. I think Lebron will make many allstar teams but no rings. You can't teach the type of desire Kobe has.

Well... I think I'd pick Kobe. He is like Michael Jordan without the hops but with better handles and he has the same killer instinct as Air did. He plays great D when he wants too and he can shoot from anywhere.

Bron is good but I'd still go with Kobe. He's achieved so much and I would be intrigued to see how far he'd go without Shaq.

And plus, he'd sell tickets! (but so does Bron/T-mac)

I would go with Kobe, first of all...LeBron is still very young and you dont know how he might end up, maybe he wont show any improvement at all during his career, so after a first season...I still dont really see him as a save pick over Kobe and Tracy.

Now Kobe vs Tracy, Tracy has alot of talent and so does Kobe, both great shooters and great 1 on 1 players, but I think Kobe is a better slasher then Tracy is which creates more options for his teammates, also...the All-Defensive team selections say that Kobe is a better defender. I give T-Mac the edge on scoring while having tight defense on him including a double team, also I think he is more athletic then Kobe is, but Kobe steps up whenever his teammates need him, T-Mac hardly does that, in the fourth quarter he dissapears. Also, I dont really see Tracy as a teamleader, Ive seen countless times when his team would lose a game, then he sits on the bench en just joke around with his teammates, Im pretty sure Kobe wouldnt do that and also, he wouldnt allow a 19 game losing streak even on a team such as the Orlando Magic.

Imo Kobe > T-Mac

I meant to say one of the reason he'd picked Lebrom over them two is because of his age. Tracy and Kobe are young too and they never reached the level of Lebron's game in their 18-19s. So I have to assume if you're this good at this young age you would be one heck of a player in his nba career. With good coaching, mentoring, and an uncanny motivation to succeed Lebrom is my pick. George Gervin, former Spurs players and Hall of Famer made a good comments last night on TV, he said superstar players nowadays "don't believe in shot accuracy, they believe in field goal attempt". And I agreed with him. The Iceman made more than half of this FG attempt and there were season in which he attempted around 1500-1900 and still managed to averaged over the .500 in FG%. That is great! Michael Jordan also managed to averaged many 50% FG seasons. Kobe is shooting .424 FG% so far in the playoff and his highest FG% was achieved in year 01/02 shooting .469 from the field. As far as Tracy he has achieved .457 twice in his career. Now what is so good about averaging 26.4 ppg and shooting .387% from the field (Allen Iverson's 03/04 regular season stats)? I'd rather have a guy who can averaged around 25 ppg and shooting over 50% than a guy with 30 ppg and shooting in the low 40%.
I admire so much for what Kobe Bryant has been able to do this year. Being able to play at his level specially with all the legal problems is amazing. He is a very strong minded player. I really admire that.
In conclusion, Lebrom James all the way as long as he progressively improves throughout the years which I believe he will. Some people even speculate him averaging a triple double in the near future. Only time will tell.

Thank you for your time.

There is a huge difference between a great player and a winner. Tmac can be considered a great player, but he isn't a winner. Not yet, anyhow. Kobe is a winner. I don't know yet if LeBron James is a winner. You cannot judge any NBA player until he reaches the playoffs. Look at how Dwayne Wade played in the playoffs! Didn't he seem like he deserved ROTY? Of course, LeBron was way too good for that. However, I still think Dwayne Wade is a winner, much more so than LeBron James. At least for now.
So I'd go with Kobe. Kobe is still 25 years old, and he's proven to be a winner. Now if you put in Dwayne Wade, I would kind of have to think because of age. But even if Dwayne Wade was in, I'd pick Kobe.

It depends of the roster of the team I own.

If the team is good and has a few chances to be champion, then I'd choose Kobe because of his experience of the finals and because he's a winner.

If the team sucks or doesn't have any chance to get the title, then I'd choose LeBron James and try to build a new team around him.

I take Lebron.

Kobe: No, because of his legal problems... Without the legal trouble I would pick him for sure. But his case has changed him. Even though I think he will probably be found innocent, he can't ever be as focused on basketball as he was a few years ago. Also his best days are behind him. He's already won, now he's concerned with proving he is the best. If he hadn't gotten into legal trouble, I would take him.

T-mac: No. T-mac is a great scorer. But he doesn't play good defense. You can't question his desire to win, but I'm not sure it will work out for him unless he decides to allow himself to be on a team with another star that's just as good or better than him. I don't think that will happen.

Lebron: He's 6 years younger than both of them. He's already putting up stats almost as good as both of them. He does take over games for his team and he's 19. He's the tallest of the three at 6-8 (along with T-mac.) He has just as much talent as either of the other ones, too. I take Bron.

I'd take Tracy.

As has been said, you can't bet on Lebron because you don't know what's going to happen.

In the battle between Tracy and Kobe, it's pretty much even except for ONE thing. Kobe thinks that he can win basketball games by himself. Tracy has learned the hard way that he can't.

That lesson is invaluable to great players...especially if they're going to be the centerpiece of your team. Note that Jordan didn't win a ring until he realized the importance of involving his teammates.

Tracy knows now that he needs help and needs to get his teammates involved. Kobe has never learned that lesson. They say you have to lose before you win...and in this case...Tracy's already done the losing. He'd be my pick for a centerpiece.

I'd rather be a scorer at 6'8 than a scorer at 6'0.

I don't know who I would pick :P . Maybe later.

I would definitely pick Kobe Bryant, he's been in the league forever, about to win his 4th championship, and will win his first NBA Finals MVP (You heard it here first) this year yet everyone seems to forget the fact that he's still only 25. Don't get me wrong, I hate the Lakers, but you have to respect what he's achieved in his career.

T-Mac? B*tch Please... :o

He's nothing but a whiny complainer who's ready to bolt as soon as he's unhappy. The game has its ups and downs, learn to deal with it T-Mac.

LeBron James had a marvelous rookie year but he's set such a high standard for himself, I doubt he'll be able to keep up that 20-5-5 he averaged this year, maybe he will, but to show improvement over last year will be next to impossible.

(kobe4mvp and the rest of his crew, I don't think I was aware of what the hell I was doing by making that bet but seriously I can't stop posting here, it's the only place where you get fans from every team. I don't mind if you take occasional jabs at me...well, that's basically it.)

What the hell's so funny about what I said? You need some serious help now that you've put that in your signature. You said Kobe4MVP but you didn't specify if you meant regular season MVP or Finals MVP. :P

You need help for not sticking to your promise, the deal was, if the Lakers win, you are gone...the Lakers won and yet you are here, and yet you are whining about how much these boards mean to you and I find that quite amusing. I cant ban you or anything but letting the people know what kind of a coward you are is what I can do.
BTW, your a fucking moron.

And you are not man enough to stick to your promise, only little kids get a special treatment, please dont tell me you consider yourself in that category  . So instead of calling me names, here is something you can do what might be usefull.....GROW UP!!!

Definitely Kobe. Kobe is a proven winner with those 3 rings. He averaged 24.0ppg - 5.5rpg - 5.1apg this season with the newly operated on shooting shoulder. How is it that people constantly say that Kobe is a ballhog when he leads his team in assists with 5.1apg at the 2 guard position. He is also a great perimeter defender, improved 3 point shooter, great finisher around the rim, great at getting to the line and making the clutch free throws, and he is only 25. There is no contest. LeBron had a great rookie year because he was the franchise player his rookie year. When Kobe got to LA they already had Eddie Jones in the prime of his career. Once Kobe entered the starting lineup his numbers constantly improved. When the game is on the line 9 times out of 10 the ball is in Kobe's hands which proves how great he is. Of all the Jordan comparisons to players Kobe has been the closest. Great defender, fadeaway jumper, athleticism, clutch performer, and winner. No one other than Jordan compares to his performances. TMac is a great player but still hasn't proven anything other than scoring all of his teams points. Give LeBron a couple of years to work on his game and jumper and then we can compare him to the great players of the league. Well thats just my 2 cents

I'd go for Lebron all the way. He's a great player, unselfish, young, all that stuff. The ONLY thing that would probably make me change my decision is whether or not he actually turns out great. Sure he's got a great season now, and his season is looking bright, but what if he gets injured? And traded? And never becomes the player he should have been? As long as Lebron doesn't get his career screwed up with lack of development or a long lasting injury or whatnot I think he will do great.
