NBA 2K12 PC Patch Out Now

so the update on PC patch is not really "Days Away"... well maybe 7 days or 14 days or 120 days....

Still technically days but yeah, we might've got our hopes up prematurely.

Definitely won't be picking up 2k13, at least not before March/April/whenever the patch comes out. Only reason I got 2k12 as early as I did was for the Kings and Warriors, and we all know how that turned out.

Same here. 2K have disappointed me too many times by now.

I'm surprised and kind of sad I'm saying this, but EA coming back to the PC with their game is probably the best thing that could happen right now.

But it's impossible to get PC patches out quickly due to all that QA and approval required from the hardware manufacturers.

It's not like consoles where you can update your game whenever and however you want.

It doesn't, he's lying again. I've never once heard of any patch being rejected by a DD.

If it IS with the DDs, big question now is the 2K policy on this. Does it force all DDs to wait until every DD is ready so that everyone gets the patch at the same time? Or can a DD release the patch once it's "approved"?

If we have to wait for all DDs, we could be in for a long wait. Some of them are really not good with getting patches released.

That was supposedly the issue last year. Here's hoping we're not looking at an April release.

They will for those with Retail versions.

The problem is not the DD's, Ronnie is trying to shift the blame. 2K is telling them they can't allow it until a certain date because 2K has to switch the servers over to support only the patched version otherwise it doesn't work.

If two random guys can make a patch and have it "approved" and up on Steam within hours then a corporate behemoth like Take Two definitely should be able to. Especially when the later is doing one patch they finished months ago and the former is making a bunch of random updates whenever they want over the course of a year.

They did before and people complained that they couldn't play online or didn't have the patch when others did. So, they release them all at the same time even if the retail version is ready first.

They didn't do it before on purpose, that was because Gamersgate screwed up and put it up the instant they got it.

The retail version is ready at the same time as all the others, probably way back when the console version is.

The question is, would anyone really notice the troubles getting online if the retail version received the patch straight away?

No, because if 2K allowed the patch to just come out when they were done with it rather than trying to set some specific date everyone would get it within 24 hours anyway.

The real problem is their shitty online infrastructure.

Thanks for contacting 2k Support. Although the PC patch was supposed to come out last week, it was rejected, and so it is being tested again. It should come out next week unless it is rejected again.
