No new NC this week as Doug's on the road, but he did a commentary for his Batman: The Animated Series Top 11 episode and earlier in the week he posted a Top 11 Nostalgia Critics he won't be doing.

And on the AVGN front, Motherfucker Mike posted a new tricks and glitches video, this time for Super Mario Bros 2:

Enjoyed watching those. Agreed with him on most of his points about the franchise, except about the first game being really hard (especially that level where you have to dodge Medusa heads and kill an undead knight at the same time). The game is not that hard say like Battletoads (which he also reviewed and rage quit).

Also got to watch some of his other reviews. Gotta say I'm impressed that he finished Street Fighter 2010. To finish the game you basically have to do a speedrun in the final stage. Had enough of it so I rage quit then. Maybe I'll give it a try again by emulator.

Speaking of trying again, have been playing some Battletoads and things have been brought up to me...
1) The game is really hard, even with emulator save anywhere anytime. I thought the game was hard because I was a kid then playing it and I hoped that age had made me a better gamer. Wrong. The difficulty of the game made me wonder why kids were allowed to play this game then.
2) The reflex action required to play the game, jeez. It doesn't help too that my Logitech controller isn't as responsive as the Famicom (NES) controller.
3) Game is still enjoyable, maybe that's why it kept me playing despite the troubles. Or I'm a glutton for punishment.

Definitely agreed on his X-Men games review.

I'd have to tip my hat to you then, I've always found the first Castlevania to be hard. The three NES games can be pretty merciless because of the stiff jumping/knock back. Castlevania III is my favourite as well.

Awesome. The behind the scenes/out of character stuff always show James to be a very cool guy, as opposed to the desperately unhappy and tortured person a certain banned armchair psychologist insisted that he and other Internet personalities had to be.

Nostalgia Critic tried something a little different this week with a Let's Play. It was pretty good, though it's not really his forte; nice to see him trying something different for a change of pace. The last couple of Nostalgia Chick episodes have been good too, the fanfic one was hilarious in its intentionally bad acting and incorrect/mispronounced/misspelled words throughout the dialogue.

Yeah that was really cool. As entertaining as the regular Nerd videos are, it's a nice change of pace when he steps out of character or does a more positive retrospective, like his Castlevania series.

Does that mean we won't be getting the AVGN this month? :(

That contra mini-review is pretty cool. Contra is one of the games I want to play as a kid but I remember playing only sporadically and can't even last on the first few screens

Just finished, the whole thing was fucking brilliant. I thought i hated that movie the first few times i tried to watch it then when i watched it with the fiancee...i gotta admit just like they did: its stupid, its asinine, and it makes no sense...to quote another often guilty pleasure (nightmare before xmas) "confound it all i love it though". Like they said in that final song, it absolutely goes against all my semblance of taste. But it drew me in and i enjoyed it.

That review as on par wit hsome of their yearly Channel Awesome full fledged stuff.

It seems James(of Angry Video Game Nerd) is full speed ahead on the movie and not doing any nerd videos for now. Sad but I hope the movie goes well.

Definitely. (Y)

Still got a few videos to catch up on from the past month, something to do over lunch for the next few days perhaps.

A shame on one hand but at the same time his last video wasn't one of his best, so perhaps it's best he take a break from it until he can put the time and energy he wants into them.
