Nictional Draft Class 2.1 (WITH FACES) now available. Download links below.

=====================================================================
Are you someone who likes to go deep into Association mode with NBA 2k12 and sim multiple seasons?

Are you sick of having the integrity of the later seasons of the league ruined by the players that are generated?

Sick of having to constantly spend time editing, editing, editing, editing generated prospects?

Have you had enough of:
- Over saturation of good players (i.e. 75+) in the league, starving the solid role players of the league of opportunity/playing time, which in turn overloads team salary caps all around the league because everybody costs so much, which also in turn leaves too many good players in free agency without a team that can afford him. This also results in too many teams going over hard cap which limits CPU trading.
- Player tendancies not utilizing/matching up with their attributes or play style
- Centers developing into 75+ Ovr players but only scoring 2-8ppg due to wonky tendancies.
- Player attributes not matching up with their position (e.g. PG's with 65 for block, 270 lb players with 50 for strength, etc)
- Too many top prospects coming from obscure/small colleges.
- Too many "all-round/jack of all trade" rated players (whether they're rated 70 ovr or 50 ovr) who end up sucking because they're not good at anything in particular.
- Commonly seeing centers who are freakishly tall far too often (i.e.7'1 - 5")
- Players having strange signature animations that don't suit their size/position/attributes.
?

Then Nictional Draft Classes are for you. (Y)

===================================================================
(Y) NICTIONAL DRAFT CLASS v2.1 w/ realistic faces
Carefully crafted fictional prospects for association mode, so that you don’t have to rely on the generated draft classes. I have meticulously created/edited nearly every single player in this draft class. The idea is to make unique & specifically molded players (both in terms of the stars of tomorrow and the role players of tomorrow), while being mindful of overall draft class and how it'll affect the overall BALANCE of the league in future years. Hopefully it makes association modes more REALISTIC and interesting.

Included in this pack:
- Comprehensive internal player edits, such as: attributes, tendencies, animations, hotzones, hotspots, vitals, accessories, playtypes, potentials, bodytypes, etc
- The top 16 prospects get a realistic looking fictional cyberface.
- A scouting report of the top prospects included in zip file.
- All names should have the commentator say their name.
- Player age stays relevant to the year/season the draft class is loaded. I.e. will work for ANY year/season.

lol, as someone with three draft classes custom made.. i find this exciting.. you're right on the excitement of creating a player with a particular player in mind. often, i make mine from the molds of old/legendary players.

i also have a mario salvaderi in mine but he's a PF, lol. great stuff man.

Hey, good to see that somebody did this for 2K12. (Y) I actually did one class for 2K11 some time ago, but never released it, because it took me too long to edit all those 2nd rounders.
Here's the link to my thread: viewtopic.php?f=136&t=81185
Feel free to use my players if you like. :D

EDIT: Dude, you gotta include some screenshots.

Double trouble mario! What are the odds. :)
Glad to see someone as enthusiastic of this as i am, haha.

I often try to create players in the mold of what hasn't been seen before. :) A lot of the players in class 1 are reminiscent of past players mind you, but if i make more draft classes in future you can expect it to get more unique.

Sometimes i make players in the mold of specializing at something in particular (i.e. Billy Daily (steals) & Taribo Ikedia (blocks) in this class)
But usually i imagine a character/personality for the player i'm working on, then create their on-court activity to match the kind of person i imagine... if that makes sense..

:applaud:  looking forward for the release!

Download is ready now. (Y)

Yeh it takes ages doesn't it! Each of the lottery picks took me probably an hour each.

Screenshots of what exactly? The epic player report isn't enough?? lol. That thing took me ages..

Sorry, my bad. I meant screenshots of the players, of course. Because if you kept the generic faces, you gotta edit those. CPU-generated faces suck big time.

Great work!!! I have always envisioned making a project of 15-20 fictional draft classes but with real life semblance. I find that usually this classes lack true combo guards and swingmen, while favoring combo forwards which are least common nowadays.

I can help with a couple of classes if time allows in order to make this a project!
Congrats!

That sounds like a pretty cool idea. I actually imagined something similar too.

There could be 10 classes per package... (that covers a whole generation/decade)... And we could aim to complete 2 packages... The only thing is that it would take aaaages to make a package... just making 1 class involves a lot of late nights..

It WOULD be pretty cool though. I was just going to make fictional draft classes 1-by-1 until i run out of steam, and if i end up making over 5 then i'd just package them together... but covering a whole decade would be whey kewler... So if you or anyone else wants to make a fictional draft class or two, i would definitely consider including it if it's well made..

here are my draft classes..

http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=2306

there are three. you might be surprised, the file name are actually names (PBrand, FPierre-Louis, DSimpson). that means they are sort of the supposed no.1 pick, but you can't control CPUs drafting so they may slide down.
some early scouting reports on whose to watch out are there in the download link(didn't want to lengthen my guest post here :D).. some names don't have audio though, it's because some names are still from nba live days and i still have them in draft classes. actually, for three consecutive years now, i've redone theses three draft classes (NBA 2k10, 2k11 and now 2k12)

enjoy the association..

Wow, it's really cool to see people getting on board with this. People really forget how much generated players in 2k ruin association modes, so the more fictional draft classes out there the better!
Good stuff Kolczu and z_dize (Y) :)

For people who want to make fictional classes, here's some rules of thumb that i would encourage people to follow:
- I know it's tempting but try not to make prospects over 75 ovr, unless you're talking about a once-in-a-generation type of prospect. Even when players like lebron and durant were rookies it would've been pretty hard to justify a 75+ rating. And try not to have too many players over 70+ unless you intend for it to be a strong draft. 5+ players over 70+ is a strong draft, and should be RARE.
- Don't be afraid to have plenty of players rated under 60. Players do improve pretty significantly in 2k12.
- Potential: 74 is the magic number. Any potential over that will basically mean that the player will turn into a star, especially if they're only 19. This is because player potential ratings actually increase from year to year for a player. So try to limit potential being 75+ unless you want the player to become significant in the league. Remember that the point of fictional draft classes is to reduce over-saturation of star players.
- The most significant rating increases are seen between the ages of 19-24.
- The difference between 65 and 75 for potential is HUGE. 25-64 for potential is essentially the same thing. 80-99 is essentially the same thing too. But the difference between 68 and 71 is big. One potential pt can mean the difference between turning into star or not in some cases. run some tests and see for yourself!
- Read & follow this thread for great info on potential: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/s ... p?t=518205 ...some of these dudes are running tests and the results are interesting.
- Also check out this guy's thread for ideas: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/n ... nside.html ...he was what inspired me to release my own fictional draft class (i've always just made them for my own use). He is basically the god of this stuff lol so head over there and check it out.

Good luck chaps

Hey Nick Thanks for your hard work. Great job on your prospects report - It really helps me dive into the draft mode. Very well written (Y) (Y) (Y)

I hope you make 2nd class also! If you are going to release them, can you create couple of more great centers in it? (I really miss the days of big boy battles in NBA: Ewing, Olajuwan, Robinson, Shaq, Mutombo, Mourning....)

Cheers!!
