Dunno if it helps but for Hard Foul Tendency the rating value I use is Commit Foul Tendency divided by 2 (then roundup or down, up to you). Hard Foul Tendency rating in the 20's is already sufficient to see some occasional hard fouls here and there in the past versions of the game.
If you really want to be stat-based, I guess you can try finding a stat listing of flagrant fouls done by players.

Just looking it over, there are alot of inaccuracies in the ratings formula, especially in certain catagories. They didnt produce very realistic sim stats in 2k11 either.

Just so you know, Rashidi (TheReal2KInsider) has said that 2K changed their ratings formula for 2K12, based on his findings. So any formula you used for 2K11 might not produce the same results as in 2K12.

All the formula's have been re-done, that's why this is version 2.0. Any inaccuracies will be re-evaluated once I start game testing.

The on-ball defense ratings in particular are really inflated where they shouldnt be. Nortorious bad defenders have 90+ on ball defense ratings. And of course theres still the problem of guys who only played a few minutes or games with really inflated stats, which i guess this doesnt take into account. thats why theres scrubs who played a dozen games in their career with 99 steal and rebound ratings. Ive noticed that the formula does work well with shot ratings though

Amber, please pm with a list of players you feel are over rated on On Ball Defense and I'll take a look at it. On Ball Defense formula is based on players Quickness, Steal Ratings and the Defensive Win Shares & Defensive Rating off the Basketball Reference website. Now On Ball Defense was rated to be comparible number wise to players Medium Shot Ratings and Players Speed and Quickness since this is what this rating directly effects so that may be the reason you see ratings that are higher than what you think they should be. But again play testing will give me a better idea on what needs to adjusted.

Most of the players are based on per minute played rather than a per game basis so that's why you see high ratings on guys that played very few games or very few minutes. Those players may rebound per minute better than say a Dwight Howard or a Wilt Chamberlain but this is counteracted by the fact that those players tire very rapidly and are not very durable. Of course, if these players where added to a Season Mod then they would have to be adjusted down from a overall rating standpoint to decrease there value but the reason they are rated the way they are is to try to recreate the numbers they got in the minutes that they played.

Hey Fifedawg, could you also put Abilities section in your ratings? You see, there's this Ability section in editing a player in 2k12 where you'll choose Poor, Average, Good or Great. I'm having hard time on editing it without any basis. If you can do that, this Rating Encyclopedia will be a complete package. Also, make your own game sliders to fit exactly with your ratings and produce a realistic result on players' stats. Thanks a lot bro.

The spreadsheet really needs to be updated to fit the NBA 2k12 roster format i agree with you, but i have left it the same for all the folks still using 2k11and i'll probably leave it in the same format until I see next years game. HOWEVER for those who use the spreadsheet for 2k12 here's how you should weight the Abilities.

When rating Shooting use either the players Medium Shot Rating or Three Point Shot Rating (which ever is higher). If Medium Shot Rating is higher use the chart below. Use the point total it equals out to and apply the points as you see fit to the attributes. Now if you give a player a Poor Rating you use 0 points for an Average Rating you use 1 point for a Good Rating you use 2 points and for a Great Rating you use 3 points. For Example lets use Larry Bird's 1987-88 Season. Bird has a 90 Medium Rating and a 92 3 pt rating. Since his 3 pt rating is higher than use the second chart below and you get 14 points (92=14). You take those 14 points and spread it out over his Shooting ability ratings. So I can make his Fadeway (3 points), Dribble Pull Up (3 points), Spin Jumper (3 points), Stepback Jumper (3 points) all a Great Rating and that will add up to 12. Now I can a Good Rating to his Runner (2 points) and use up all the 14 points allocated because of his rating. Always allocate the points as you see fit.

If Medium Shot Rating is higher use this chart:
92=15 points
91-88=14
87-84=13
83-81=12
80-77=11
76-74=10
73-71=9
72-67=8
66-64=7
63-60=6
62-57=5
56-54=4
53-50=3
49-47=2
46-43=1
42-40=0

If Three Point Shot Rating is higher use this Chart:
99=15 points
98-94=14
93-90=13
89-86=12
85-83=11
82-79=10
78-75=9
74-71=8
70-67=7
66-63=6
62-59=5
58-55=4
54-52=3
51-48=2
47-44=1
43-25=0

For Layup/Dunk Ability (Use Rating that is the highest)
99=9
98-91=8
90-83=7
82-74=6
73-66=5
65-58=4
57-50=3
49-41=2
40-33=1
32-25=0

For Dribbling (Use Players Off Hand Dribbling Rating with Position Adjustment.
For Guards-No Adjustment
For Guard/Forwards-Divide Off Hand Dribbling Rating by 1.2
For Forwards/Guards-Divide by 1.3
For Small Forwards-Divide by 1.4
For Power Forwards-Divide by 1.5
For Forward/Centers-Divide by 1.7
For Center/Forwards-Divide by 1.8
For Centers-Divide by 2.0
98=21
97-94=20
93-90=19
89-87=18
86-83=17
82-80=16
79-76=15
75-73=14
72-70=13
69-66=12
65-63=11
62-59=10
58-56=9
55-52=8
51-49=7
48-46=6
45-42=5
41-39=4
38-35=3
34-32=2
31-28=1
27-25=0

For Post Moves use Players Offensive Low Post Rating
99=21
98-95=20
94-92=19
91-88=18
87-85=17
84-81=16
80-78=15
77-74=14
73-71=13
70-67=12
66-64=11
63-60=10
59-57=9
56-53=8
52-50=7
49-46=6
45-43=5
42-39=4
38-36=3
35-32=2
31-29=1
28-25=0

I'll be releasing a new version soon. I've been doing alot of game testing and there will be adjustments to Old School Players 3 Point Tendency and also adjustments to players Spot Up, Pull Up & Touches Tendencies.

As for Sliders here is what I'm currently using.

How about tendencies and hotspots? You left a lot of tendencies untouched. I'm having trouble of tendencies in shooting and dribbling like how often a player use a fadeaway or use crossover, stuff like that.

There are some ratings and tendencies untouched because stats can't determine who often a guy shoots a certain shot or performs a certain dribble. All the information on the spreadsheet are rated based on a players stats so therefore i can't integrate the two. My suggestion would be to just watch alot of tape of old school players on Youtube if you are doing those. Think about the era the player played in when editing dribble or shot tendencies.

I'm having trouble with the triple threat tendencies. You can see in 2k11 that there are Pump Fakes, Triple Threat, No Triple Threat. But in 2K12, there is one more additional, Triple Threat Shot, the tendency of a player to shoot from triple threat. How do you do this?

Just use the same rating as either the players Medium Shot Rating or Three Point Shot Rating. Which ever is higher.
