NBA 2K12 PS3/360 Demo Discussion

Postby iPrototype on Sat Sep 17, 2011 7:28 am

2K has officially announced that the demo will be available in the two console systems on September 20th, 2011.

Does anyone have a key feature in the game they're looking for?

All I actually really wanna try is the new post moves and the overall feeling of the game. Other stuff is I'm looking forward to is in the final version like My Player and The Greatest mode. Impatiently waiting
I'm also wondering if they're going to have a demo with a stripped down presentation like last year. hope not :(

Considering how stripped down the demos usually are, I think it pretty much comes down to getting a feel for the revamped controls and the improvements to gameplay/animations/physics that have been talked about in the past week or so. It'll still be worth giving a look but previous NBA 2K demos suggest that it won't really do justice to the finished product.

EDIT: Stickied for convenience.

for 2k11 I spent game after game purposely throwing the ball out of bounds to watch it go into the crowd

I'm probably going to keep running players into the 2nd row of the crowd for 2k12.

Andrew, even though the presentation is stripped down, the gameplay has been pretty representative of the final product.
Opinions are my own.

More or less, agreed. Well worth checking out the demo when it comes out but if anyone's still on the fence come the release, I'd recommend shelling out a few bucks to rent the full game over the demo to make up their mind.

Not worth the effort. Making a demo would just delay the PC release.

Will have to check it out. I played the hell out of the 2K11 demo because the gameplay was just so much better than 2K10's

I dunno, usually I get the demo and play it way too much, making the full version not that much of a surprise. Since I have to work until September 30 and need to write two pieces for university until October the 1st, I think I have enough to do so that it won't bother me to wait until October 7th.

probably, they usually make the official release dates a gold exclusive

it looks like this site is still getting updated, so someone might post the demo for download, and then you can burn it to a disc and play it off that, or maybe stick it on a USB stick. I havent done that in a while but there is no modding of your xbox required

The first thing I will check in the demo is if the superstar(s) on the AI team dominate, or if (like very often happens in 2K11) random players on the AI team take over the game. For example, is it Kobe torching me for 30+ or D Fisher? Once in a while D. Fisher might, but in 10 games Kobe should be the guy torching me most of the time.

I was about to post a thread about the demo, there's really nothing the demo will really show other then game play and presentation. Would be nice if they had like 3-4 different games that you could choose from to see the different eras of the Historic Teams. Like the typical finals Mavs vs. Heat, then maybe a game from the 80s then one even earlier.

Why's that? Many PC players own consoles too & will likely download demo.

In addition to that, it's a rather limited demo: no options, additional camera views, sliders, playcalling or commentary, one 1-4 minute quarter and you can only play with the Mavericks. Anyone without a console won't be missing out on a huge glimpse at the game but as X said, a lot of people have both and can try out the demo on their console while planning to get the full version on PC.

Still downloading the demo myself, once it finishes and I have a chance to spend some time with it I'll be sure to post impressions here and on the main page. My expectations are fairly low considering how stripped-down the demo is but I'm not too concerned. As I said before, I expect the small taste the demo will provide won't truly do justice to the final product but it'll be good to get a glimpse of it all the same.

Would that be the WoW nerds or the FPS Elite you are referring to?

Got my impressions up right here.

It's a 2K demo through and through....disappointing but you can see what they are getting at. Some replied to Da Czar this morning saying it's like the demo of the demo. Bleh, let's just get these 2 weeks over with.

After more time with the demo, this shit is actually pretty good. Getting used to the LT+RS moves. They got rid of signature gathers, instead those gathers happen automatically when you arent moving, hold LT, and then move the RS in a direction. If you let go of RS before the gather is over with you dont shoot. Simple little thing that just fell through the cracks for me.
