FG%:.515 (8th)

3PT FG%:.560 (1st)

Yeah, it's funny..like your signature! Nuggets dynasty! w00t!

Hey... all we need is....

wait for this

JACK NICHOLSON!!! (Spelling?)

Fri May 07, 2004 10:24 am

Lol, yeah that's the same thing I told Andrew...with his cheerleading skills, the Lakers will surely be fired up.

Hmmm, maybe Jackson gets two techs and the teams gets fired up a la 2000.

The Lakers need Mark Madsen to bring in some fire in their eyes, Im positive that if the Lakers would still have him that they would play with alot of more intensity unlike what they have done the last 2 games. Just a little bit of intensity is what could have gotten the Lakers atleast 1 win this series.

Also I was just thinking, what if the Lakers still had Tyronn Lue? He did a hell of a nice job guarding Iverson in the 2001 NBA Finals, so maybe he could bring in some good man to man defense on Tony Parker. Altough Parker is a better fast break player then Iverson is Imo and I dont know if he could slow down those fast breaks

Fri May 07, 2004 12:22 pm

this talk of still having lue... i sense despair in your tone. say it ain't so, say it ain't so

Just a little bit of intensity is what could have gotten the Lakers atleast 1 win this series.

nothing personal, but this is a crock of shit.

a little bit of intensity does not stop parker from blowing up, duncan from from dominating the game, cause certain players to hit their free throws, cause bowen & manu to defend bryant worse, etc.

the spurs are winning these games because of their excellent execution on both sides of the ball, especially in the 4th quarter... not because the lakers aren't a little more intense

not only are the lakers being outplayed, they are being out coached. the laker coaching staff had what seemed a whole week to make adjustments to game 1. parker had an even better game. their adjustment- post up payton a few times to open the 2nd half. in response to shaq being fronted, players try lobs to shaq from the 3pt line(!)

listen to your hero's comments in the postgame, he was right on

I dont think it is, if they would show a little efford in the defense, then they shouldnt allow the Spurs to have a 10+ something lead. A great example is somewhere mid the third quarter/early fourth. In both game 1 and game 2 they were able to cut down the lead to single digits during that time, just by playing with more intensity in the defense and rebounding, the offense never was a problem for the Lakers this season, maybe in the first quarter of game 1 only, but in game 2 they shot about 50+% from the field.

Maybe you cant stop Duncan and Parker from scoring, but you definetly can slow them down, the Lakers are able to do this, but someone needs to wake them up

Fri May 07, 2004 11:34 pm

but someone needs to wake them up

Yes IMO, it needs to be Gary Payton and Phil Jackson
WTF is Gary doing!
This guy is suppose to be the Glove, hes not even trying on defense, wheres the old trash talking, face-up defender Payton gone??
wtf is going on?

Phil, needs to start Rick Fox, cause Geroge is putting nothing up but bricks, and Fox is a better defender, if Payton keeps gettin beaten, then put Kobe on Parker.
Also why take Shaq out with 58secs left, when ya only down by 7 or 8.
a couple of good posessions and a foul on bowen/duncan/rasho could of had the lakers back.

Someone who needs to go to sleep is shaqs stepdad, who the hell does he think he is, bloody dumbass.
he may have a point with some of the things he said, but calling kobe a non team player was just stupid, he did his shit again, and decided to just hide away and mainly just pass the ball, lakers need the shaq of game 2 and the kobe of game 1 if were gonna win.

come on lakers!

Sat May 08, 2004 1:23 am

Sorry Laddas, Rick Fox isn't the answer.

Sorry Kobe4MVP, it's not the Lakers intensity level.

Everyone, it's all about execution. Both teams are excellent teams talent wise, the difference is the Spurs are buying into their coaches system and executing it to near perfection. You win by executing, the Lakers came back both games in the 3rd QTR because they executed. Why did they lose both games late in the 4th? Gary Payton playing bad defense? Kobe taking bad shots? Devean George shooting Bricks? Karl Malone dissapearing? No, it was none of these, it was because they didn't execute. It was because they turned the ball over. It was because the spurs didn't turn over the ball and executed. Once you get this high up and this far into the playoffs everyone is good. It becomes a mind game. The team that executes the best and doesn't back down will win. Right now that's San Antonio.

Sat May 08, 2004 7:20 am

some of you guys make it sound as if the lakers are playing horrifically bad. its not that the lakers are playing bad, its that the spurs are playing great. and if the lakers ARE playing bad the excuse isnt that its because theyre not trying hard enough, the reason is that the spurs are forcing them to play bad. we'll see how it goes in la though, the lakers will probably come out desperate. as long as jack as there the lakers have a chance. :D

Sat May 08, 2004 10:14 am

yeah stop whining and give the spurs some credit
Spurs had a better record than the Lakers for a reason, they are good! They just playing better ball and out matching the Lakers. After all, the spurs are the team with "the kobe stopper" as in bruce bowen :D

Sat May 08, 2004 11:02 am

The Kobe what?

16-38 FGs 37 points
9-24 FGs 27 points
10-23 FGs 39 points
15-31 FGs 36 points
9-19 FGs 20 points

135 shots 22.5 per game

Some stopper. (Y)

Tony Parker is running around Gary Payton. Shaq doesn't even bother trying to stop him in the post.

It's funny- I like Lue...if only the Lakers had got him...and kept Madsen....that they couldn't.....

But GP is doing so crap...that ESPN were saying that the Lakers would have been better off getting lue instead of him...for the spirit at least....

Also- Phil Jackson needs to get his thoughts across to HIS team- this aint Kobe nor SHaq's team...it's Jax's team...if he can convince everyone to work together and if the the Lakers can execute their gameplan and hold onto tight games...maybe they can win a ball-game....

Where they at now- i dont really see them having much of a chance at coming close to winning....

Sat May 08, 2004 11:10 pm

You know it's funny, the Lakers championship teams of the past always had that fast quick guard to try to keep up with the likes of Allen Iverson, etc. They had lue, then they had Pargo, now West is gone and they don't have anybody. And Fisher's and Payton's slow old legs are exposing them.

Mon May 10, 2004 8:05 am

They have Rush, Lakers need to give Michael Cooper a call and teach these rookies some D.

Lakers blew them out

Mon May 10, 2004 8:14 am

Now game 3 is how they should have been playing. All 4 of them did good, they were putting more guys on Duncan, and they weren't letting Parker get in so easily.

Mon May 10, 2004 9:05 am

The lakers are finally playing like a team :D
Kobe and Shaq did great but so did Malone. Payton was ok.
If they keep playing like that this series are going to be interesting.
I wonder what popovich and the spurs will come up with in game 4.

This is quite a rare site, all 4 starters sitting on the bench after putting away a team. The Lakers should take a page out of the Bulls dynasty days and do this more often. However, the funniest part of this picture is the look on G.P.'s face. He looks miserable while the other three guys are laughing it up. Hate to Gary go to a shit team next year. Now we know though why he's never won a ring. The guy talks too much and isn't a team guy. GARY SHUT THE HELL UP FOR ONCE, PLAY BALL AND STEAL A COUPLE MORE RINGS WHILE GRAVY TRAINING OFF SHAQ AND KOBE!! :?

i second that :)
and BTW- Whos prediction is (actually wilkl be) right by the end of the season? (see sig)

Mon May 10, 2004 9:55 am

Better change your sig now Genocide..

I'll edit my post tomorrow to give you my take of the game. It's 2 and I gotta be up at 6, I'm gonna go sleep. :D

Mon May 10, 2004 10:07 am

I knew the key to winning was a balanced attack...defense (props to Payton) and home court advantage!

But I'm not satisfied until we win the next game at home and the next game away....cause if we win Game 5- it will be the turning point of the series....remember we lost the series in game 5 last year when Horry missed....maybe Horry will miss for the Spurs this year!

Shaq played huge in the paint...(11 from 13???) - 28,15 and 8 blocks, Kobe had a solid 22,6,6 and Payton with 15 and 7 assists- also hounding Parker causing him to end up on 4 from 12 and Malone had 13 ,6 and 5. Duncan had 10 on 4 from 14 shooting!

Hooray....go Lakers

Mon May 10, 2004 1:48 pm

the turning point will be game 5, supposing the lakers guard their home court advantage..
any team who wins game 5 will win the series...

also, some people might say kings won game5 in 2002 playoffs but that was a whole different series in which they switched wins. It wasn't like one team going up 2-0 in the series...

like lot of people here, i want the lakers to win, but i'm never sure bout it,, also, the refs should call more fouls on spurs hacking o'neal.shit...
they call some cheap fouls when duncan 's shooting and they don't give a shit when shaq has the ball and 4or 5 guys hacking him....

Mon May 10, 2004 1:58 pm

i'm glad the lakers won this game. it was a must win for them. at least the series is getting a little more interesting. lol imagine if it was 3-0 spurs heading into game 4

i'm going to go out on a limb and say that duncan will not be held to a pedestrian like effort, the lakers will not shoot 57% from the field, and that the spurs will not shoot 34% in game 4.

while the laker fans' glass gets a drop of optimism, LA still has to win 3 out of the next 4 games to advance...
