Williams acquitted of most serious charge

The Article wrote:SOMERVILLE, N.J. -- Although acquitted of the most serious charge, former NBA star Jayson Williams faces the possibility of a retrial, as well as prison time for convictions on attempting to conceal the shooting of a hired driver.

Williams was convicted Friday on four of six lesser charges, related to tampering with evidence and trying to cover up the death of Costas "Gus" Christofi. He was killed by a shotgun blast as Williams handled the weapon while showing friends his mansion.

90% of the time anybody with money is not going to jail, thats just how the american judicial system works.

I had a feeling he would escape the manslaughter charges, but do you think he'll avoid serving time for the charges for which he's been found guilty?

i think the most if any jailtime he'll suffer is probably 5 years. the guy killed somebody and he probably gets nothing. its incredible. you have to be pretty stupid to accidentally shoot and kill someone right in front of you. unless its a incredibly fluky accident (the gun fell, bounced on the floor, and went off directly aimed at a vital target on a person) no one should get away so easily for anything let alone killing someone. i havent followed the trial too closely so i might not know all the details, but right now it seems incredibly unjust. i wouldnt be surprised if the jail those enron guys went to is strangely akin to the hyatt.

its funny, american law seems to attack famous people to harshly for petty crimes and too leniently for harsh crimes. strange that.
