Detroit vs. new Jersey

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a rematch of last year match up which new jersey win by a sweep despite detroit was the favorite to win it.

no difference this year still detroit is the favorite with the bad boys R&B Wallace, improved Prince and Okur, a consistent Rip and a leader in Billups plus a good bench support.

New Jersey after acquiring Zo and Griffin in regular season this plyoff they are the same cast of last year playoff roster with a few minor changes. Kidd and K-Mart (the fake pitbull) are back in they form after their injuries. Jefferson bringing his game a notch higher.

so who will win in this series??? the winner will definitely play against Pacers in ECF.

Detroit in 6. (and if this will happen they will be in finals but if im wrong and nets win then Pacers will be in finals)

I'm still picking the Nets to return to the Eastern Conference Finals, though I doubt they'll sweep the Pistons this year. I'll predict the Nets win 4-2.

You have your opinion, I have mine. At this point in time, I think the Nets will advance, most likely in six games.

i like the pistons a lot more than i like the nets but my pick is jersey in five(they believe no one can beat them in the east and they could be right)

Sat May 01, 2004 10:22 pm

well theres no way i'm going against the Pistons on this one......i say 4-2 (hopefully 4-0  )

I think the experience that comes from two straight trips to the Finals will be the difference maker. The Pistons couldn't even sweep the Bucks...

i really wanna see how well k-mart does in this series; going up against big ben and rasheed.. one advantage he has over the other two is his speed.. rj vs. tayshaun will be a good match up..

i think the nj is gonna win this one in 6.. i really can't see anyone beating new jersey

Tue May 04, 2004 1:22 pm

detroit off to good start. ouch, talk about defense.

Tue May 04, 2004 1:42 pm

defense wins and that's exactly what detriot has. Holding the Nets down to 25 first half points ( Mavs/Kings score more than that in a quarter!) and 58 for the game (Mavs/kings can score this in a half lol) really shows you the strength of detriot. This is 1 team you don't wanna mess with. No more dunking for Martin or Jefferson with R&B in the middle.

Tue May 04, 2004 5:38 pm

ok all the people that predicted NJ would win it... post your opinion from after Game 1 :D

I would like to see the Pistons win too, cause the Nets eliminated my favorite team :x

Personally, I think Detroit will win over the Nets, proably 4-3 or 4-2 is my guess.

They've got a defence like no other. Rasheed and Big Ben, they bring it, and hard. I reckon that Kidd's Nets, have had their chance. They beat the Knicks easy sure, but Detroit have guys like Chauncy, Ben, Rasheed, Campbell, Rip, Williamson, Prince, Hunter... I mean, they put up some pretty good numbers, and their defence is well, like the '96 Bulls' offense.

The Nets will struggle, although they've got a real good regular season record, they'll only get most of their shots from the outside, and it will be tough to score in the post, but upsets do happen, so it might swing the Nets way, but overall, Defense plays a major part so Detroit!!

78-56...ouch. It's only one game, but if the Nets are to have any chance of winning this series, they're going to have to a better job of overcoming Detroit's suffocating defense. Not a good start for my second round predictions. :?

Tue May 04, 2004 8:14 pm

4-1 detroit

Tue May 04, 2004 8:44 pm

I'd say 4-1 in favor of detroit. No fastbreak, no win for new jersey.

Tue May 04, 2004 9:08 pm

great game. Kittles scored like 10 in the 1st quarter, and R Wallace picked up 2 early fouls and was subbed in by Okur who did a good job. I though Jefferson was conatined well by Prince, and Prince did well on both ends, Playoff time is Prince' time.....i guess he's like Robert Horry, they don't care bout reg season but come playoff time they play

even Darko got a min of play

off to the pub 2morrow for Kings vs Minny

Where's Jason Duncan?

Wed May 05, 2004 11:39 am

lol, who knows

game to on Friday (Saturday for us in Aus, which is good cos the games at the pub :D )

I think this game will be much closer, another low scorer, but i pick Pistons by about 5 points

Wed May 05, 2004 2:08 pm

lol i just discovered this forum

i had pistons over nets in 6 pre-playoffs.

Thu May 06, 2004 5:32 am

Tayshaun Prince owned the Nets...I wonder what it would have been if the game was a team effort. Just kiddin', this series will be a sweep.

Thu May 06, 2004 6:42 pm

i don't think it will be a sweep...don'y let game 1 fool you

in 2002, Game 1, Pistons beat the Raps by 20+ pnts, Game 2 was settled by something like 5 points

against the Bucks they won Game won by 20+ pnts, Game 2 they lost by 4

expect a harder game 2

Thu May 06, 2004 7:36 pm

This wont be a sweep.

Ney Jersey has prooved they have a competitive team and they will probably find solutions to get pass the defense.

Sat May 08, 2004 2:38 pm

Detroit has taken a 2-0 series lead with a 95-80 victory. (Boxscore)
