Artest vs. Bowen

Postby Amphatoast on Wed Apr 28, 2004 10:27 am

Indiana forward Ron Artest challenged Bruce Bowen to a game of one-on-one for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award

lol really funny, but jsut for the fun of it, I sure would love to see them go 1v1. If they do for some reasonactually play, I think Artest will easily win since his offensive game is good and getting better. He also has better ball handling skills I think.

:D artest is such a child sometimes. anyway, even if artest beats bowen it doesnt neccessarily mean he's better defensively... maybe bowen's just inept offensively, and such has no merit on who should win the dpoy. artest is the right choice though i think.

Yeah, the probability of this happening is the same of Shaq playing Hakeem during the years Houston won back-to-back...

I pick Artest as well, because he has a superior offensive game. He can also play physical defense without being dirty.

this is stupid. artest is stupid.
If Phil Jackson complained, would Artest challenge Kobe? doubt it. he'd get so humiliated by Kobe, Kobe has all that Artest has and way way more

I dunno if its without being dirty, just not as dirty because Artest does his far share of underhanded moves on D.

Bruce Bowen is a very good defender.
However, I pick Ron Artest too.
As everybody said, Ron Artest is a very active offender... And I think it's easier to put many efforts on defense when you are not involved in offensive plays very much.

Anything physical is seen as "dirty".

Name one good defender that doesnt have "underhanded moves".

Kobe is not on the same defensive level as Artest. He doesn't have EVERYTHING that Artest posseses. Like Carlisle said, Artest is arguably up there with Michael Jordan and Gary Payton when it comes to perimeter defense. Kobe, though great at times, doesn't seem to put in the same defensive intensity night-in and night-out.

Oh, sorry.

Tim Duncan, Andrei Kirilenko, Eric Snow, Andre Miller, Trenton Hassell alright that's all I want to think of.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be physical, you have to be to be a good defender, but some of those guys overdo it and also do things that have nothing to do with being physical but are just to annoy other players.

I think any time you deliberately injure another player, you're crossing the line between physical and just plain dirty. There's a fine line between some of the rules that players exploit on defense and actions that are simply unsportsmanlike.
