Andrew's Chicago Bulls Dynasty (NBA Live 2004)

A collection of memorable stories from NBA Live's franchise and career modes.

Chicago 109, Detroit 71

Though I scored the first basket of the game, Detroit again reeled off 7 unanswered points to take an early lead. Since I've grown accustomed to playing catchup in the first quarter against the Pistons, I was able to take back the lead by the 6 minute mark. From there on it was much more of the same. The run began early in the second thanks to Tim Hardaway, who scored 12 quick points and dished out five of his seven assists in the first 6 minutes of the second quarter. Detroit showed signs of life in the third quarter but I had pulled well out of reach.

Top Performers:

Kevin Garnett (POG): 26 points, 19 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, 1 steal
Donyell Marshall: 13 points, 4 rebounds
Tim Hardaway: 12 points, 7 assists, 3 steals in 11 minutes
Scottie Pippen: 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal
Eddy Curry: 10 points, 3 assists
Tyson Chandler: 10 points, 5 rebounds
Kirk Hinrich: 10 points, 8 assists, 1 steal
Kendall Gill: 8 points, 4 rebounds
Jamal Crawford: 8 points, 5 assists, 5 steals

Chauncey Billups: 25 points, 6 assists
Rip Hamilton: 14 points
Corliss Williamson: 10 points
Lindsey Hunter: 6 points
Elden Campbell: 4 points, 10 rebounds
Ben Wallace: 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks

Chicago leads series 3-0

I'm feeling pretty confident about winning the championship, though I really hope I don't have to face the Mavericks in the Finals.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in your Dynasty thread, I'll head over there now. :)

Glad to hear it's still holding your interest. It's certainly been a fun season, I'm looking forward to winning the title and the offseason. I'm not 100% sure I'll continue with this Dynasty, but I'm still leaning towards doing so.

I easily defeated the Lakers twice this season, so I'm pretty confident I can beat them 4 out of 7. The Mavericks' powerful offense is a little too much to handle though. Even though I did blow them out in the second matchup during the regular season, I'm not as confident going up against them. I'm hoping they'll be eliminated by another Western power or maybe even upset by a lower seed.

It's not that I don't enjoy a challenge, it's just that I do have preferences as to which team I'd rather face in the NBA Finals.

I don't blame you Andrew, the Mavs are a scary team to have to face. I was really worried that they would blow me out every game during the playoffs when I did my Lakers dynasty.

If you're playing in Superstar, the Mavs are probably the hardest team to play...everyone is a great defender in that mode :P :x

As you'll see below, I no longer have to worry about facing the Mavericks in the Finals. :D

Chicago 103, Detroit 99

Unlike the first three games, I was unable to maintain a large lead as Detroit refused to quit. I feared they would extend the series to a fifth game when they took a 93-90 lead late in the fourth, but I managed to recapture the lead and squeeze out a 103-99 victory to sweep the Pistons and advance to the second round.

Top Performers

Kevin Garnett (POG): 36 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, 1 steal
Kirk Hinrich: 18 points, 3 rebounds, 16 assists, 7 steals
Jamal Crawford: 17 points, 3 rebounds
Scottie Pippen: 16 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists
Donyell Marshall: 8 points, 6 rebounds
Eddy Curry: 4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks

Chauncey Billups: 23 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists
Corliss Williamson: 16 points, 4 assists
Elden Campbell: 10 points, 9 rebounds
Bob Sura: 10 points,
Ben Wallace: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks

Chicago wins series 4-0

First Round Recap

East:
Chicago defeated Detroit 4-0
New Jersey defeated New Orleans 4-1
Indiana defeated New York 4-0
Philadelphia defeated Orlando 4-1

West:
Golden State defeated Dallas 4-3 (:!:)
San Antonio defeated LA Clippers 4-3
Memphis defeated LA Lakers 4-2
Sacramento defeated Denver 4-3

Second Round Playoff Picture

East
Chicago (1) vs New Jersey (5)
Philadelphia (2) vs Indiana (3)

West

San Antonio (4) vs Golden State (8)
Sacramento (2) vs Memphis (6)

Bulls Top Performers after the First Round:

Kevin Garnett: 31.8 ppg, 19.0 rpg, 3.3 bpg, 7.0 apg
Jamal Crawford: 15.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.8 spg, 3.0 apg
Scottie Pippen: 14.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.3 spg, 8.0 apg
Kirk Hinrich: 13.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 5.5 spg, 11.5 apg
Donyell Marshall: 10.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg
Eddy Curry: 8.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg,
Tyson Chandler: 7.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg

Hinrich has been simply awesome so far in the playoffs. His 5.5 spg and 11.5 apg lead all players in the postseason. KG's numbers are also fantastic, and he is the leader in PPG and RPG. After a sub-par regular season, Donyell Marshall has also been playing well. My confidence is fairly high for the rest of the playoffs, especially since the Mavericks and Lakers have been eliminated in the first round.

What a game for Kirk! 16 assists! And those playoff brackets are crazy! Memphis knocks off LA and Golden State beats the Mavs.

Great first round Andrew. Next up, Kidd's Nets.
Question to a Mr. Begley:: If you beat them (hypothetically) who do you think you'll face in the Conference Finals, and on that note, who's the front runners in the West at the moment??

Anyways Andrew, great games so far. I'm suprised the Mavs didn't come through. Even with my system in my dynasty they're still really strong, (if don't get it see 'Macca's Dynasty.') But Philly and Golden State look to be the surprise. But if all goes to plan and well, it should KG could lead his team to some nice 'silver wear' that would sit atop coach's 'mantlepiece.'

Andrew wrote:Scottie Pippen: 14.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.3 spg, 8.0 apg

It seems that with Pippen in mine as well, he's a team player more than scoring. As in, he grabs more rebounds and hands out more assists, than points. Suppose that's what makes him a good 'point foward' as Phil once called it, (I think)

Really looking foward to the next games... Wonder how much support you'll get from Mafia if you face off with his Grizz in the Finals!! :P
Keep up the good work on KG, and with rookie Hinrich!

Macca

P.S. Hopefully you'll make your way over to my dynasty where I'm at the '04' offseason, although no rush, I figure how busy you are and all. Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in one day! (B)

I'm predicting that Indiana will prevail and advance to the Conference Finals. I'm fairly confident of beating either the Pacers or the Sixers in a seven game series, as I had winning records in the regular season series against both teams. I don't really have a preference.

Pip would probably score more points if KG wasn't around. He was actually my leading scorer at the beginning of the year, just ahead of Rose, before I made the KG trade. He seems more suited to this role though.

I just wanted to drop by and egoistically point to my own dynasty thread :D. As i enjoyed reading yours so far, maybe you wanna risk a look at mine ... but be warned ... It is a lot of stuff in the first posts, as I had to sum up the whole season.
