Game lags after having this game for a few months. Help!

The game has worked fine until recently. Now it runs very slow. My fps has dropped to under 10. Defraged a couple of times. i have closed or deleted all unwanted programs and I even lowered the graphics.
Running at 1280 x 800 window mode on, arena and crowd to low, player medium. I have also tried game booster and no luck. What is cause it to do this?

I have added some mods like updated cf's, and some shoes but thats it.

Specs are Windows 7 (went to classic look to help increase fps)
HP Pavilion G series
AMD Phenom II650 Dual core (2 CPUs) 2.6ghz
500 gb hard drive
4 gb memory

Should I just redownload the game over?

This is the only game installed on my computer. I don't have itunes or anything else that would slow it down.

No everything else is running fine. I have had the computer for about 3 months with no problems. I am wondering if it could be a mod. Are my specs good enough to run this gamee without problems?

Depending on your video card, I'm guessing you shouldn't have too many problems running the game. It could be an issue with a mod you have installed, in which case it's a matter of trial and error, removing the updates you have in place until the problem is resolved so that you can identify which one is causing the problem. Starting with the most recent mod you added would probably be the best way to go.

I didn't save my originals like an idiot so I guess I will have to put my saves in a folder and reinstall the game?

Sure. When in doubt, backup your saves etc and reinstall.

I reinstalled it and it done the same. Now it runs at about 4 fps. When I looked on task manager it is taking up 100% of my cpu compared to way less before.

Something's definitely amiss there. You might want to run a check for Malware. Try Malwarebytes, it's free and should get everything cleaned out if you've picked up a few infections.

I donwloaded the malwarebytes and it found nothing. Ugh anymore ideas?

What's your CPU usage look like while your PC is idling?

With chrome up and idling 2-3%.

Which anti-virus software are you running? Seeing as though NBA 2K11 connects to 2K's sever upon starting up, maybe it's blocking the connection and going a little crazy while the game is running, having mistakenly identified it as a threat. You could try disabling it temporarily and see if that makes a difference; if so, you might need to reinstall your anti-virus software.

I am using the Norton trial version that came with the computer. I have disabled it and it doesn't do anything. I leave the disc in my computer but I didn't see any scratches on it but is there any way the disc can be damaged causing it to freak out by taking all my cpu usage causing it to lag.

I right clicked on the icon and selected troubleshoot compatibility and if used recommended settings. After running performance benchmark and my fps went up to 14.

I'd recommend getting rid of the trial version of Norton and installing AVG Free. That's probably not going to be the solution to this problem though and frankly I'm running out of ideas as we seem to have covered all the bases. If you've got a friend who's computer savvy, you might want to see if they can take a look at it and see if they can spot anything out of the ordinary.

I got the computer at Best Buy and since it has been less than 90 days I wonder if they can take a look at it. Something isn't right. I really appreciate all of your help with quick responses.

Hey Bro im having the same problem since three months it was running smoothly but suddenly google chrome crashed and my fps dropped same way as yours.
My specs are way above minimum.

Right click on Nba 2k11 icon and trouble shoot compatibility. Then use recommended settings. It worked for me.
