McGrady done for the season.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- NBA scoring leader Tracy McGrady will miss the rest of the season after the Orlando Magic put him on the injured list Wednesday because of left knee tendinitis.

McGrady, averaging 28 points, skipped the past two games because his knee was sore and now also will be sidelined for the Magic's final seven games.

At 19-56, Orlando has the league's worst record.

"It just isn't getting any better," McGrady said. "The organization doesn't want to me to rush it, and I don't want to rush it. I just don't want to put pressure on myself to try and come back too soon. We're just being cautious."

He's the second NBA star ruled out for the rest of the regular season this week. On Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers announced Allen Iverson will miss their final eight games because of persistent pain in his right knee.

McGrady has all but clinched his second straight scoring title. Sacramento's Peja Stojakovic ranks second with 24.7 points.

McGrady also is averaging six rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.39 steals in 67 games.

I was just about to post this. I saw it on ESPN. Too bad for Orlando. Now they'll give up 120 pts and lose by 40.

Its good that Tracy sits out though, instead of risking even more injury for nothing.

I guess Orlando just wrapped up the worst record in the NBA since they don't have much chances of winning games now. Smart move by McGrady, rest for next year since his team isn't going anywhere this year. Also a good time for the Magic to see their talent and who steps up and could be trading bait over the summer.

don't hand over the title yet to orlando- chicago is in serious contention for worst record mode: players like pargo, dupree, linton johnson, and fizer are playing in crunchtime. gm paxson has already hinted at not picking a high school player- the bulls are going for the most ping pong balls for okafor

chicago vs orlando tonite... eek

too bad for mcgrady- more time to watch his supporting cast flop and speculate about his future endeavors

What I said about Iverson applies here too. Even though I like to see players put in the effort to the end (hard as that may be when the playoffs are out of reach and the games fairly meaningless, save for ping pong balls in the lottery), there's no point risking further injury when there's nothing on the line. I don't think AI or T-Mac should be criticised too much for starting to rehab their injuries a little early.

Do you think the games they played on the olympics qualifying tournament had an effect on their injuries. If this is true, if i were mcgrady i would also skip the olympics so that he would have a long time to rest. Too bad for the magic...

I think you're right, Ice, when you say this qualifying tournament must had an effect on their injuries. Especially for the "little" Iverson, who always plays more than 40 min/game in a season.

I also remember that, the season after Jordan and Pippen played with the Dream Team, the Bulls did a worse season than the 2 previous seasons.

The Bulls did indeed win 10 fewer games in 1992/1993...though considering they won 67 games the previous season, that isn't too bad.
