Rumor: Webber may ask to be traded.

Mon Mar 29, 2004 3:52 am

Sources say Webber's not too happy.

Chris Webber, while publicly downplaying the impact of being booed by Kings fans, is privately so hurt by the response, it could push the power forward to ask for a trade after the season if the negative reactions continue.
Webber will not comment on the potential implications of the harsh treatment he received twice in the six home games since he returned from a serious knee injury and an NBA package suspension, saying he wants to avoid distractions and stay focused on the final push of the regular season, then the playoffs. It's known, however, that the team co-captain and five-time All-Star is bothered more than he's letting on, to the point of uncertainty about his future in Sacramento.

Webber has already hinted that the early feedback is also creating a chasm on his side, telling a group of reporters after the latest incident that "it definitely changes my focus, my outlook." It was left at that.

King Queen wrote:"I feel more disappointed," Webber said. "It actually hurts. It's more than betrayed."

Lol, now he's even crying about his own fans. Sorry, I just needed to put that in.

On a serious note, if this is true and all, it could effect their chemistry...which might be a good thing for the rest of the league. :P

If the team stays and only Webber is gone it would perhaps have a positive effect on the Kings.
And the thing with the chemistry isn't that much a problem in my opinion. I don't think Webber's words will affect it.

That's why Chris Webber is a crybaby. Pretty normal comin' from him. (N)

Mon Mar 29, 2004 2:29 pm

Given the way the Kings played without him, it probably wouldn't be such a bad idea. They should be able to get good value in return, so if he asks to be traded Sacramento should definitely consider the possibilities.

go to new york, c-webb ! :D

Mon Mar 29, 2004 3:45 pm

hawks would be able to afford him no? i think that might work out...

Mon Mar 29, 2004 4:47 pm

He'd be crazy to ask for a trade. Sacramento gives him his best chance that he will ever get to winning a championship. If he didn't get injured last year in the playoffs, the Kings probably would have won the whole thing.

Although, the Lakers fan in me hopes this happens. :P

Mon Mar 29, 2004 5:05 pm

Maybe he will be picked up by the Bobcats and so will Kobe...but they make Kobe the main option with Webber backing him up!

They've got the cap space, but he's not a free agent and the Hawks don't have much to offer the Kings in a trade.

Assumptions, assumptions, assumptions...

How do you know my motives for posting an article? I poked fun at Webber, it's pretty normal...it's the same way you keep blabbing away about Mr. Adulterer, hey, it's what you wanna do...who cares?

I posted the article because it's news worthy & it's a topic we could discuss, what effect it will have etc. You just keep assuming things and pretend to know what goes on in my head. Dont.

Anyways, you're not as interesting as you used to be once upon a time. You're just a really bitter person for God knows what reason, probably because you're booze is finished or something. (See, everyone can assume like you. :o  )

Now try something for a change...staying on topic.

*Sigh* I'm finished, whoever got plessure out of reading the article...good for you, whoever felt it was just to bash a Kings player, good for you. (Y)

The end.

Just stay the hell away from Chicago CWebb. We already have enough soft big men.

Tue Mar 30, 2004 9:36 am

c-webb to dallas maybe? Mavs are always looking to make a move now a days.
Or how about to Orlando to help t-mac out :D Kings could pick up a few solid role players and magic can rebuild through draft and young talent around t-mac and webber.

Maybe send him to the sixers to help AI out or something. It should be interesting to see where he ends up if anywhere.

Heck jus for fun, cwebb back to washington for kawame! lol

I agree. Talented as Webber is, he hasn't played 70 or more games since 2001, and has never appeared in more than 76 games (his rookie season). The Bulls don't need to invest in a player who has only played an average of 61 games per season (that's excluding this year as the season isn't over, and the lockout season when he played 42 out of a possible 50 games), who seems to be growing more injury prone every year.

A team with a deeper talent pool can afford to take the risk though.
