What it was like when YOU first got to this site

Postby Ruff Ryder on Sun Feb 01, 2004 8:45 am

I think when I first got to this site it was back in 2001 or 2002. I never browsed the forums or anything(If there was any). I'd read the reviews for NBA Live. I think when I was here It had frames. I thought it was pretty cool and I bookmarked it.

Then I started looking for it over the summer. I think I was looking for cheats. Instead of cheats I found even better stuff-Patches! I downloaded a bunch of them. A ton of shoes and players. Also I downloaded alot of jerseys. I went to almost all of the patchers sites looking for new stuff to download. Then I had to beg my mom to get me Live 2004 for PC. Finally I got it for $20. Then when I tried to install it it wouldnt work. (N) I joined the forum and now I'm part of the family of the greatest NBA Live site on Earth!

What about you?

Got here when Live99 came out, got tired of my generic-looking Michael Jordan, and decided i'd want to make it... searched for a while, and found the tools on NLSC (while it still had the oldschool look, and Tim ran the place)
Never released any patches, or posted on forums until live2000 came out, i remember i was quite cocky, and had a flamewar with then-always-on-drugs Thug. but we're cool now :)

I came here in 2000. It took me like a month to learn how to download patches. After getting rid of Live, and moving on to Sega, I stayed at the forum but limited myself to NBA Talk and General Talk. I remember Tim being a forum God or something. I remember El Guapo adding titles to just about every paragraph of his topics. I also remember getting banned in the summer of 2002.

I was looking for the Pamela Anderson video through a search engine, and this site came up because of the "naked patch" someone made. (y)

I was on the NBA Live 2003 website almost exactly a year ago. I saw teh link for 'forums' (I was an internet idiot and had never heard of a forum) so I checked it out and found a link to .org and saw all these patches and was like :o You can do this kind of thing, that's so cool. So I downloaded all of them, and then since I didn't know anything about computers I couldn't get them to work so I joined the forum and asked about it (But unlike todays n00b's I understood what Tony was talking about and got it working) Then I just kept posting.

On [insert date I joined] I decided to try out this 'NLSC' people had been talking about (not in a positive matter, but let's not get into that, except for Nick. Nick was stickin' up for the forum) and started posting here.

i first came upon this site when live 2000 came out. i wasn't really hooked on the NBA back then but some of the patches here at the NLSC were just (Y) (Y). i remember downloading tony's jersey updates for live 2001, i think...the ones in which he just added the mesh holes and stuff...just made 'em look a lot more realistic in the game. ever since, i've been hooked onto this whole thing :)

I'm old....I've been visiting the NLSC since Live 98, and my main draw was Dave Z (I think?)'s college patch, which I found on the forum, I think, and then there was Vee's face patches and Vinlex's shoes, and then, of course, Tim's roster patches.

I started patching and what not, and I got annoyed by Travis Lee's crap way back in the day, and Ben and I ran rampant throughout the forum messing with n00bs and generally being assholes...then there was Matt Medina and Mike Davis and then Tony and Thug showed up and so on and so on and so on...

For some reason I'm still here....I think it's because I have no where else to go. I mean, I'm just a homeless pedophile who uses an internet cafe to log on here...

Well some guy from the Live01 online chat room thingy reccomended NLSC to me. So i went there, joined the forum straight away.. downloaded Hawk_23's roster update. (remember? the one with all the player face problems. :D) and downloaded some patches for missing players too.

Just like most of the other people, I came across this site while looking for roster patches for nba live 2000.
Then I came across the black site that was run by Tim, and rosters from memory by lutz..

I then found my way into the forums where i registered and occasionally posted. Before the forum went Michael Jackson.

Used to love the scenario patches (Y) , vinlex's site, along with the other old school patches. I used to steal patches and release them as my own  but I learnt how to patch usuing Kq's tutorials and yeh.. I'm OK at patching these days..

Used to love reading the long indepth posts by DRESPN, DR P and a couple of others. Mike Davis the Jason Lebron Kidd of the old forum hehe

and who can forget the starting 5 thread  :)

When Live 1998 came out, my brother came on this site and saw a ABA ball patch over here. I was amazed of all the things you were able to download to make the game better, so I visited the site more and more, till one day I was bored and I was clicking on every link in the NLSC menu, and that brought me to the forums :P

I came to NLSC when it was blue back in 1997...then in 1998 I entered the forum for PC Live 98 with Vee, Dave Zollner and Marco Dell'Edera leading the way...a year later after the Greek Boyz, LiVeMaN, Chaffee6, Larry Fisher, Kit Dizon, Jens Braband, etc. etc. came around I opened my own site since I was patching...now I don't patch anymore, I just muse about the good ol days, type stats into excel calculations and avoid doing things David asks me to do...

As always, I miss Boris Car.

what are scenario patches

Since you could save in the middle of a game in NBA Live 98-2000, some people created Scenario patches. They'd setup a game with appropriate rosters and play up to a certain point, making sure the score was accurate (and in most cases, the player stats would also be fairly accurate too). Other users could then load this saved file and play out the scenario.

For example, there was a 1998 NBA Finals Game 6 scenario, where you had an opportunity to hit the game winner with Michael Jordan (or if you preferred, defend against the Bulls as they tried to win the game). The score was 86-85 Jazz, Michael Jordan had 43 points and the ball with about 17 seconds left.

They were pretty cool. (Y)

As for the topic...I first came across the NLSC in 1997, looking for updates for NBA Live 96. Though I was a frequent visitor and started up my own NBA Live site back in 1998, I didn't get involved in the forum until 2000.

I found this site when looking for roster updates for NBA Live 98. Didn't post on the forums till 2000 came out and people really started patching the graphics. Got into patching NBA Live 2000 inspired by Thuan Vuu and his awsome NBL patch.. Teamed up with a few other Aussies.. Chucky_Wood, Gene.. etc to do a NBL patch for NBA Live 2001. Then Gene and I joined nbalive.org and did the NBL patch for NBA Live 2003.. and I will probably do a NBL patch for NBA Live 2004 once the custom team issues are fixed.. till then I will just keep bothering Ben with stuff that he just ignores anyway...

I came on in the fall of 1999(Tim & Lutz were running the site). There was a great bunch of guys here, and I emailed them updated roster info. I miss those old guys(DRESPN, Flexx Daddy, Kojo Richardson, Stephen(Allen Iverson), Paolo, Abhi(Coolman) and many others). I'd spend hours creating players and emailing the ratings to like 25 different people. Thank goodness for the Sharkport!

I haven't played Live since 2002. When I get back into the groove, I promise Andrew I'll send him roster files(for PS2 users).

Found this site by searching altavista. Somehow I got a crazy idea that it could be possible that I could find some roster patches for LIve 98. I mean how can you have an NBA game without Michael Jordan?? So anyways I browsed through the old website and found a patch by some guys named Tim and Lutz. I've been addicted to this site ever since. This site was the first to really show me the advantages of PC over console gaming.
