Malone sidelined until March; early timeline 'overly optimistic'

Even though they've got Shaq and Kobe back, this still hurts the Lakers. It has to be very frustrating for the Mailman too.

And its also very frustrating for the Lakers fans. With all the talk going on about whos team the Lakers are, I think Karl Malone is their leader, just go watch some Lakers games and you will see for yourself how important he is for the team, not only on the court

This and Kobe's injury might be a blessing in disguise for LA. Once the playoffs come around, Kobe and Malone should be rested and hopefully Shaq will be healthy by that time too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers destroy everyone in the playoffs but I'm concerned about Payton because, as well conditioned as he is, he might be the one hall of famer whose body may breakdown late in April and May but we'll see what happens. Also, interesting to note that LA's record without Malone is the worse than when LA's without Kobe or Shaq.
