Cavs in playoff race?

Thu Jan 29, 2004 4:30 pm

I just check the Eastern Conference Standings and to my surprise, the Cleveland is right there for the 8th seed.
the 8th seed right now is held by the Knicks but the cavs are right there surprisingly
team record gb for 8th
8. Knicks - 20-27 --
9. Philly - 19-27 .5
10. Miami - 19-27 .5
11. Cleveland- 17-28 2

only 1 game behind in the lost column, talk about a pathetic conference. the 8th seed is 7 games below .500 and compared to the west, all the teams below 8th in the west would be in the playoffs in the east except for the suns right now.

After the slow start, they've quietly made their way closer to the 8th seed. I'm surprised too - not only did I expect the Cavs to remain at the bottom of the East, I'm surprised they've managed to get that close. Still, I think it's a case of the other Eastern teams struggling rather than the Cavs drastically improving. LeBron has definitely made a difference, but the lower seeds in the East are in bad shape. If the playoffs started today, the sixth, seventh and eighth seeds in the East would have losing records.

If cleveland make the playoffs, does lebron james deserve the rookie of the year plum?

Probably. If cleveland missed the playoffs, he'd probably still get it.

I think LeBron has already claimed the ROY trophy, regardless of Cleveland's record.

That 8th seed should have been the Bulls this season. Does anybody know wtf has been going on with this team? I've been following the team from afar and I see Eddy Curry's stats are down. Have they even got a steady rotation yet?

How hard is it to figure out this lineup...

PG K.H.
SG J.C.
SF Junkyard Dog
PF Antonio Davis
C Eddy Curry

WTF is up with my Baby Bulls?!

I think Pip was supposed to be the veteran leader, but Limp informs me that his knee is still pretty banged up, making it hard for him to lead by example. Chandler's numbers were pretty good in the 10 games he played, but of course he's out with a back injury right now. I think Curry needs more motivation; his scoring is up, but his rebounds are down.

Who has been starting andrew?

Skiles has been trying some different lineups since he took over, but most recently he's gone with this starting five:

C: Curry
F: Davis
F: Dupree
G: Crawford
G: Hinrich
