Heres my initial impressions of 2k10, (Previous background: Countless hours of 2k9 on PC from its release date till now and about 15hours of 2k10 at the time of writing).
-Menus I personally I believe are atrocious, hopefully they're just a phase and ill get past them eventually but right now they're a pain to navigate. I could almost navigate 2k9's tree of menus off by heart.
-My Player Mode is absolutely spectacularly a breath of fresh air. I wish we still had the option of being draft able, but that's just a little setback. I've got to confess this has really drawn alot of my playing time since I've picked it up. My point guard (6'7 defense minded, pass first shaun livingston protege) is putting up 10,5,5 with 2 steals in the D-League after being cut from the Nets and the Cavaliers, you do feel a connection with the player since they are carrying my name and i absolutely love it.
-The player ratings do seem to be all over the place, but they do work game play wise. Not sure how changing them to reflect personal values will affect game play.
-As stated above with the odd ratings, during fantasy drafts you see ridiculous drafting by teams, example: Michael Beasley was picked #59 in the recent fantasy draft I did because his rating weren't as high as others. I'm pretty sure I'd take Beasley over say Stephen Jackson or Andrew Bogut. The first #30 were decent enough, but the draft order afterwards were questionable.
-During dynasty mode you are finally able to chose the draft order and change draft type from normal or serpentine. No more restarting dynastys to get that high pick when you want to experiment!
-I dont know if its my sliders or what not, but the game does feel abit slower than 2k9, but in a good way.
-The game models look spectacular.
-The ingame chatter is more lively, they announce in game stats about upcomming games, stat leaders etc. Just adds a new dimension to the game chatter.
-It may be only my game, but the commentary seems to be of very low quality, its as if youre hearing it out of a mono speaker radio in your old beat up 80's corolla.
-Developmental Drills! THIS may be one of the better improvements done to this game. Everything is much more simplified and streamlined. Close range, Medium range, and 3pnt have been made into 1 drill. POST MOVES, my nightmare from 2k9 has been much more easier, instead of being told what move to pull off you use any move you can to score in the post.
-Music, Ive gotta say the music this year aint too bad. Although i do miss being greeted by the 2K lady singing every time i booted up 2k9.
-My online gaming experience has been non-existent at the moment, hopefully it fixes up in the upcomming couple days.
-The new fatigue system works very well, no more turbo spamming.
-You can now call almost every play from your playbook now instead of 4.
Thats it for now just off the top of my head. I might make some future additions to it, but so far so good!
