Lewis led all scorers with 29 points.

Lewis and Beasley post double-doubles as Heat take 2-0 advantage.

Image

Michael Beasley was back to his regular form with a double-double and Rashard Lewis scored 29 points as the Heat beat the Bobcats again, taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Bobcats did lose by double-figures again, but they didn't let the Heat push them around. Emeka Okafor once again posted a double-double and Jason Kapono scored a playoff-career-high 25 points and the Heat had to make clutch free throws to take the 2-0 lead.

The Heat had to play catch-up, but not for long. After equal three quarters behind them, the Heat quickly erased a 5-point deficit and after baskets by Rashard Lewis and Dwyane Wade, they were up by 4 points. Both guys hit clutch free throws as well.

The biggest surprise for the Heat was the play of Jason Kapono. As Kapono averaged 9.5 points this season after starting all 29 games for the Cats, Kapono scored a respectable 12 points in game #1. No-one, even himself as he said after the game, believed that he could almost be the hero for his team. His back-to-back threes late narrowed the lead down to just 5 points.

But after an inbound-play, Lewis caught the ball behind the arc and he quickly fired a shot, but was fouled by Diaw and made all 3 free throws.

Kapono then missed a three and Wade took care of business at the line.

The series now shifts to Charlotte, where the bobcats try to stay alive and force games #4 and #5.

NOTES : Both teams shot over .500; James White scored 0 points.

Raptors leading 2-0 in a playoff series? I don't believe it, I think this is the first time I haven't seen an AI controlled Raptors team head for the lottery!

lol @ White scoring 0 points as Beasley bounced back.

Wade grabs the board and the Heat have completed a sweep over the Bobcats.

Wade scores 40 as Heat finish of Cats in OT

Image

Dwyane Wade had another memorable Playoff-game in his career, as he finished with 40 points and 5 steals, as the Heat did what everyone expected and swept the Bobcats in 3 games.

Wade added 8 rebounds and 6 assists to his 40 points, making it one of the best Playoff performances ever. His shooting percentages were off the chart, as it took just 17 shots to reach 40 points. Most of that is thanks to his foul shooting, earning 17 free throws and making 14.

Despite Wade's heroics, the hero-status can actually be placed on James White and Rashard Lewis. The two combined for 6 threes in the final quarter (White 4-5, Lewis 2-5) and the Bobcats were stunned. The had build a 14 point lead into the final quarter, but James White was unstoppable from down-town. 4 made threes are his career-high, beating his previous of 2.

However, coach Spoelstra drew the final play in regulation to D-Wade, who will get a screen and then either drive to the hoop or shoot a three-pointer. Haslem's screen was perfect and Raja Bell was stuck. Okafor didn't pick up D-Wade and he got a wide-open shot. He missed the shot and the game wnet into OT. Wade was 2-2 before the shot from deep.

White sat on the bench most of the overtime, but was subbed in late. He recieved an alley-oop from D-Wade, caught in while twisting in the air for a 180°. Charlotte's crows was stunned and dead quiet as Larry Brown called a time-out. The score was 133-130.

Brown drew up a magnificent play, which freed up Jason Kapono in the corner. He missed the shot and D-Wade grabbed his 8th rebound and scored his 39th and 40th point on free throws and finished the Bobcat squad.

The Pistons surprised the #4 seed Hawks to advance after 5 games and will face the Heat next. The Pistons are led by their good old Pistons Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton. Amir Johnson has stepped up in the Playoffs as has Rodney Stuckey off the bench. Leading the attack is Allen Iverson.

PG - Rajon Rondo | 12.0 PPG | 3.2 RPG | 5.8 APG | 2.17 SPG | 0.34 BPG |

Image Image

Center : Michael Beasley VS Rasheed Wallace.

Michael Beasley struggled to contain Emeka Okafor, who led his team in scoring and achieved a double-double in 2 of 3 games they played, so the more experienced Wallace shouldn't be an easier match-up. Wallace plays a lot on the perimeter, which is no problem for Beasley, who got used to play SF earlier in the season, when Chandler and Haslem were the starters. Shooting-wise, Rasheed is even a better shooter then Beasley from distance, on terms of mid-range, Beasley should have the upper edge. Despite Wallace begin 36, he had a spectacular season as he averaged over 23 points a game, leading his experienced squad. Beasley should beat Wallace off the dribble, as he is 14 years younger. Both have their ups and downs, but as this stage, I believe that experience and a height advantage is more important.

Advantage : Detroit.

Image Image

Power Forward : Rashard Lewis VS Amir Johnson.

Amir Johnson started a full season for the first time in his career and did OK. The 24-year-old averaged a almost 12 points amd over 8 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks. So down-low at least, Lewis won't have an easy series against the young, defensive-oriented forward. But everywhere else, Lewis has the edge. Lewis' jumper is miles ahead of Johnson's, Lewis has more Playoff-experience. Amir has been in the Playoffs every year since joining the Pistons, but never played significant minutes. Amir has his work cut out for him, as Rashard Lewis isn't an easy opponent.

Advantage : Miami.

Image Image

Small Forward : Dorell Wright VS Tayshaun Prince

The Heat are trying to develop Wright into a bulkier Tayshaun Prince, as they've worked on shooting and defense with Wright. However, despite Wright's impressive play the last games, Prince has the advantage. He's much more experienced, a better defender, a better shooter from everywhere. Wright does have the athletic advantages. He's quicker, jumps a lot higher and is more muscular. He should grab more boards then Prince. But that wont do it.

Advantage : Detroit.

Image Image

Shooting Guard : Dwyane Wade VS Rip Hamilton

With Hamilton, it's unlikely that Wade scores 40 again in this series. Yes, Hamilton is 33 years old, but all these years add experience and Hamilton is more then familiar with D-Wade. When the two teams met this season, Wade scored 19 points. But at 29, Wade is better on defense then ever before in his career. He still has the quickness and like his hero Michael Jordan, he has added the 3-point shot to his repertoire. Wade should take of business on both ends of the court.

Advantage : Miami.

Image Image

Point Guard : Rajon Rondo VS Allen Iverson

Iverson is the starting point guard for the Pistons at 35, while Rodney Stuckey (25) finished 3rd in the 6th man of the Year award running. "The Answer" still has some tricks up his sleeve. He did average a career-low 12.3 points a game, but that's more then Rondo. He also shot better from everywhere then Rondo. However, Rondo is considered on of the best defenders in the league and also one of the quickest. So it's experience against youth and will. Take your pick.

Advantage : Even.

ImageImageImageImage ImageImageImageImage

Bench : Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, James White, Jeff Foster VS Rodney Stuckey, Kwame Brown, Antonio McDyess and Arron Afflalo

Detroit has one of the deepest benches in the league next to Miami. Rodney Stuckey finished third in the best reserve award, Antonio Mcdyess is one of the best reserve big men with his experience, shooting and rebounding abilities, Kwame has become a decent reserve as he averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds. Afflalo is also on the list as he plays decent defense when Rip is on the bench. He averaged 3.1 points in 2011-12. Combined, the Heat have a +8 PPG advantage on these four players. Pit the whole bench together and the advantage increases to +11 PPG. Pistons biggest weakness is a back-up for Tayshaun Prince, as Mcdyess (!) has played that position at times and Tayshaun Prince averaged over 42 minutes this season.

Advantage : Miami.

Expert Picks :

Henry Abbott - Heat in 4
J.J Adande - Heat in 5
Chris Broussard - Heat in 4
Chad Ford - Heat in 3
John Hollinger - Pistons in 4
Tim Legler - Pistons in 5
Jalen Rose - Heat in 5
Chris Sheridan - Heat in 5
Marc Stein - Heat in 5
David Thorpe - Pistons in 5

Overall : Heat in 5.
