I finally decided to start downloading the DLCs 1 by 1, getting Operation Anchorage as I'm typing this. I'm just hoping it won't make the game even more unstable than it already is, because of all the mods that I'm using...

I think they've all been worth it so far, hopefully you won't run into too many issues. I'd say Broken Steel and Point Lookout have been my favourites so far, though Operation Anchorage and The Pitt were very enjoyable as well.

Let me know when you've played through a couple of the quests in Point Lookout, Lean. I'm interested to see if you'll be as entertained by a certain part of the trek as I was.

I just finished clearing Desmond's household. The tribals aren't that strong offensively, they just have thick skin for defense.

And seems like damage wise, the double-barrel shotgun > combat shotgun. It's just that I score more criticals with the combat shotgun than the double-barrel one. Plus the clip size is obviously bigger.

Yeah, that's definitely a drawback with the double-barrel shotgun, the smaller clip size and added reload time doesn't make it ideal when you're taking on a lot of enemies. The Gatling Laser, on the other hand... :cheeky:

What did you think of the hallucination sequence in the swamp? I loved the tongue-in-cheek "Schmault-Tec" bobbleheads and some of the other trippy stuff going on around the Lone Wanderer.

How long do you guys think you spent on Operation: Anchorage?
I started it and it's pretty cool so far, but I'm starting to realize that I'm gonna end up paying more than 30 bucks for the first 3 DLCs for example, and if they're only about 2-3 hours each...well shit :?

Yeah, I guess I spent somewhere between 3-5 hours on Anchorage. I also got through Point Lookout in a day, though I haven't visited all new locations and I was keen to get through it as I'm getting over the addiction.

I finished Anchorage in just about the same time as you guys. Felt that I might have paid something not worth fun, but nothing's more fun than blowing some enemy NPC's head off.

I haven't collected all ten intel for Anchorage, what's the use of completing them anyway?

A perk that boosts a few skills, only I'd already maxed them around by the time I played Anchorage in my latest playthrough. Oh, and a sense of completion I guess. ;)

I'll cuss to death.

I haven't continued playing yet, I'm still at work. And at first I placed that double-barrel shotgun to my shortcuts but preferred not to use it because of the short clip.

You got all the time to play 'drew.

My younger brother has actually taken the lead in Point Lookout. Sheesh. But once I get there, I'll try to FRAPS everything for your nostalgia. :P

I'm actually getting ahead of myself in the story there based on where you're up to. Sorry about that!

Just kidding, but I really tend to fraps the thing once I get there. By the looks of your post that sequence shouldn't be missed.

Absolutely. It's better than the flashbacks/hallucinations in Vault 106, though those were still cool in their own right.

I'm taking my time with the Anchorage DLC and it's pretty cool so far. No crashes either, which is a miracle. The only thing is I'm used to playing a heavily modified version of the game, so most of the textures in this one look quite awfully bland. Oh well, at least I can play it.

I'm enjoying The Pitt much more than Anchorage so far, it feels more like regular Fallout 3 kind of gameplay rather than straight forward gun blazing, which is not necessarily a good fit for such a game. Can't wait for Point Lookout next.

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. Anchorage was cool because it was a bit different, a bit of a "game within a game" approach (and the loot is cool) but I do like that the other DLC adds a more direct extension of the original game.

I guess my main problem is that with the mods that I have installed, I already have all the craziest weapons and armors that I could get (my Tesla armor has a DR of 65 I believe, and my gatling and minigun are well above 200 in damage), so even the loot from Operation: Anchorage was basically not that interesting for me (especially that awful Gauss rifle that takes forever to fire). So I'm really just looking for some good, immersive stories with those DLCs, not so much for loot rewards.

I'm really enjoying the Gauss Rifle because of the benefit of a knockdown when you get a critical hit. But what I hate about it is the one-bullet-clip.

So, I'm installing Fallout 3 on my PC right now, since I want to play the DLC (I played it through twice on 360 and Live isn't working for me) and I was just wondering, should I complete some of the main game to start DLC's? Or right of the bat?
Btw, any character/roleplaying ideas? :P

You should at least finish Vault 101 and come out of the hole before you can play any of the DLC's except Broken Steel.

For Operation: Anchorage/The Pitt, you'll get a radio signal. For Point Lookout, you'll get a journal update; and for Broken Steel you get a note that "Broken Steel has been loaded and the level cap has been raised to 30."

The rest are pretty immersive. The end of Broken Steel's quest line is worth it in my opinion, especially if you found the original final quest too easy or anti-climactic.

My brother got way ahead of me because he gets more time on the game than I do, and he blew up the Citadel.
