Trade deadline passes with silence.

Image

This years trade deadline passed with absolutely no deals, not even D-League bound players. Only
three deals were made this season, headlined with Dwight Howard, Ben Wallace, Chaunsey Billups, Josh Smith
and Travis Outlaw.
The Miami Heat front office sent out many trade offers after the All-Star break, mainly for lottery bound teams
and their picks.

Wade to be sidelined for 8-12 weeks.

Image

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, who had averaged nearly 33 points over the last three games and scored 34 points
in the All-Star game, nearly taking MVP honors, suffered a sprained right knee in practice. This means the Heat,
who are currently 18-4, the leagues best record, won't have the services of the All-Star guard till the playoffs.
This won't affect the Heat's playoff chances, with the Heat already having clinched the Southeast division title.
Coach Spoelstra stated, that guard Daequan Cook will start the remaining seven games, deciding to keep
sharp-shooter Kyle Korver on the bench.

Recap - Highlights - Play-by-Play - Key performers

Great rebounding on both ends and stellar performances by Kyle Korver and Leon Wolf helped the Heat close
out the season in a 121-119 double-OT victory. The Magic traded Superman Dwight Howard to the Pistons
early in the season and since, the rebounding just isn't there. The Heat out-rebounded the Magic 63-39, including
18-6 in two overtimes. Ben Wallace and Mike Beasley both grabbed 14 rebounds, Chandler had 16.

The Heat had 26 offensive boards, 20 by the starting front court mentioned earlier. Kyle Korver forced
overtime number one with a three-pointer and scored 14 in two overtimes. Rookie Leon Wolf, who was inactive
throughout the season, scored 5 points and had a key-steal with 1 minute to go in the second overtime. With 6
seconds to go, the Magic were down by four, but couldn't get the ball inbounded, with Heat players in the passing
lanes. Finally with two seconds to go, Adonal Foyle shot a jumper and drew a foul. He made the basket, but missed
the free throw, but the Magic couldn't tip the ball in to tie. Dwyane Wade was in uniform, but didn't enter the game.

Around The League

Playoffs set for 2011 Championship race.

Image

16 teams will once again start the chase for the Larry O'Brien' trophy. Miami Heat had the best record for the East,
while the Rockets had just one win less, stealing home-court advantage in the West.

Here's the playoff picture :

    1. Houston ---------- Miami.......1
    8. Phoenix ---------- Atlanta......8

    4. San Antonio ----- Philadelphia.4
    5. LA Lakers ------- Chicago......5

    3. Portland --------- Milwaukee...3
    6. Utah ------------- Cleveland....6

    2. LA Clippers ----- Boston........2
    7. Denver ---------- Orlando.......7

Wade not 100% for game #1.

Image

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade said, he's not 100% for game #1 against Atlanta. Wade suffered a knee
injury in practice three months ago. Wade commented :
"It's pretty much 85% right now. I won't be as explosive as I was earlier in the season."
Wade will be treated with much caution and he'll avoid full practice till the Playoffs. The Hawks
finished the season with a victory over the Thunder, Shawn Marion, former Heat, scored
42 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.[/quote]

Prediction contest!

- Post your predicted outcome of all the series. Remember, It's best of 5.
- In the Playoffs, the prediction goes like this :
    Wade points - +/- 5
    Wallace rebounds - +/- 5
    Korver points - +/- 5
    Outcome - (+/- game result - Ex : Heat by 15) - +/- 10 points.

    - Accurate gives 5 points,
    - 3 points when the difference is 2 or less. (With outcome 5 or less)
    - 1, if the prediction is within the range.

Hope everything is understood. :)

I think I got it:

Wade points: 19 (if he plays)
Wallace rebounds: 12
Korver points: 20
Outcome: Heat by 11.
