?? You want someone to knock themselves against the rim ??

No one would be willing to participate after seeing a fellow player getting knocked the eff out during a dunk contest.

( I know what you meant, I kid, I kid. )

Hey, I'd still prefer that to the Chris Andersen debacle.

stupiest play of the year ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgcb5NbBt78
It was foul (if you want i can proove you, there is another movie in youtube with photo where you can clearly see it was foul) but how stupid you gotta be to do that when you are down by 2 or 4 points and you got 3~ if i remember corect or so minutes on the clock?

A bit sketchy but it looked fairly clean at least around the ball, but Richardson clearly travelled before he went up for the dunk so it should've been a whistle right there, no basket regardless. There's at least three steps and a shuffle before the elevation.

Fair enough, that's a better angle. But the fact remains Richardson blatantly travelled. The play should've been dead - no basket, no attempt, no block, no foul, no free throws, nothing - before LeBron even caught him on the wrist. The first video shows the travel quite clearly; he makes the catch and takes about four steps without a dribble.

four steps and half of 5... i see that ... anyways travel wasnt called my officials so how dumb you must be to do 360 in that time of the game? Thats more than dumb to be honest ( even if i like richardson a bit )

Agreed, all non-calls aside it was an ill-advised thing to do. I too like a spectacular dunk as much as the next person but there's a time and a place and with the defense bearing down on you in the thick of a close game, you make the simple play.

I would've liked to have seen him on an NBA roster earlier, just so he could've been eligible for the dunk contest.

Re: Video Link Thread

what's the rule on that, cause isn't Lebron planning on doing it next year?

Re: Video Link Thread

I think they've dropped the restrictions, but White was in the D-League at the time of the All-Star Weekend so he couldn't get an invite.

just hold on to him please

then u can drop him after the ASW in Dallas ;)

Re: Video Link Thread

Tue Mar 24, 2009 3:31 pm

He's not much of a showman is he? Some nasty dunks, all from the freethrow line. If he can get on a NBA team long enough he can bring "the dunk" back to the contest.

Re: Video Link Thread

Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:00 pm

The thing is, the free throw line dunk has/had become overdone but he's got the athleticism to take it to a new level, taking off a bit further back, perhaps even making it looking even easier than Dr J/MJ made it seem and adding a new spin by adding a windmill or between the legs to the finish. That's where there's room for innovation in the contest, re-inventing the classics.

Re: Video Link Thread

Tue Mar 24, 2009 7:08 pm

That's true but with the more recent dunk contests he might have to sell the dunks a bit with some theatrics.

Re: Video Link Thread

Tue Mar 24, 2009 7:15 pm

True, though I do think we'll get to a point where the gimmicks are stale because they've been overused.

Re: Video Link Thread

Tue Mar 24, 2009 9:08 pm

and I think we will have reached that next year since the crowd reactions to the 2nd round stuff this past contest was less reactive as they were to the one Superman dunk last year.
