All-Time Worst NBA Trades

Postby EGarrett on Fri Dec 05, 2003 6:01 am

Saw this topic on the draft.net forum, sounds fun if it hasn't been done already.

I'll start...

Milwaukee trades: Pat Garrity, Draft Rights to Dirk Nowitzki to Dallas
Milwaukee receives: Robert "Tractor" Traylor.

couldnt agree more with you kobe4mvp :) !
Btw, didn't kobe get traded by the hornets(whom he was originally was drafted by)? Dumb trade :wink.
Also the trades GS has made over the years, losing webber and stuff(pretty much breaking up the run TMC was a mistake), but oh well :)

That's what sbhzmafia is saying - if the Grizz didn't agree to send that pick in that Otis Thorpe trade, they would not have had to give it up this year. Alternatively, they could have sent the pick in an earlier draft.

yea if we didnt get the pick we wouldve had the #2 pick. that way, we wouldve drated melo, because that what west said we was going to do if we did get that pick. we we're too close to getting lebron thats why i was so mad about it. i mean if it was like the 5th or 6th pick, i wouldnt have been that mad, but if u were 1 pick closer to getting one of the best players to come then of course any team will be mad lol. if u see how good lebron is playing now, just think how well he would progress under people like hubie and west.

Trades

Postby jaywill on Fri Dec 05, 2003 7:43 pm

How about this one guys:

Chicago trades Jason Caffey for David Vaugn of Golden State. They threw away Caffey for Vaugh who was never able to play for the Bulls.

Golden state trades Chris Webber for Washington's Tom Guggliotta. Guggliota ended the season by playing for Minnesotta.

Philedelphia trades its No.1 draft pick in Brad Daugherty for Roy Hinson of Cleveland.

Indeed, that was Kobe who was very capricious saying he would play nothing but for the Lakers. Hopefully, like you said, Jerry West heard him and already liked him :)

And for David Vaughn, I remember he made once a HUGE block on his Airness, who was going to dunk on his head

My fav is Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins for Grant Hill for a number of reasons
1. GH became a big bust for the Magic
2. Ben Wallace (averaged 24mpg, 8rpg and 1.6bpg for Magic) became the leagues best shot blocker and rebounder as well as an awesome defender
3. Chucky Atkins has become a productive guard, something the Magic are now lacking
4. and the best of all.........John Gabriel had the option of trading John Amaechi or Ben Wallace, he chose Ben Wallace and wanted Amaechi to re-sign. Instead he left for Utah

AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Seattle’s draft-day deal in 1987 that sent the rights to Scottie Pippen to Chicago for the rights to Olden Polynice

How about the Indiana Pacers trading a first-round draft pick to Portland for Tom Owens? Owens played one season for the Pacers, averaging 10 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, that first-round selection turned out to be the second pick in the 1984 draft, which could have been used to select Michael Jordan -- who was chosen with the third pick by Chicago.

Bucks trade Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Lakers for Elmore Smith, Junior Bridgeman, Brian Winters and Dave Meyers.

I would not consider it as a bad trade cause Kareem said that he will leave the Bucks and will sign with the Lakers so this was the best trade available cause no other team wanted him.

No other team wanted him?, . That would be the first time a team offers 4 players for a player no other team wants.

Im gonna say it in another way. Other teams were interested in Kareem but why to trade up for a player who is going to sign with the Lakers right after the season ends.

Scottie Pippen for Roy Rogers and a second round draft pick. I've got a feeling the second round pick was used to select someone who isn't around anymore, and Roy Rogers never played a game for the Bulls. They might as well have let Pip walk.

1980 Draft picks exchanged: Golden State traded Robert Parish and the 3rd pick overall (Kevin McHale) for the 1st pick overall (Joe Barry Carroll).

How does that even qualify? He didn't want to re-sign with Toronto, we had no choice, we didn't want to let him go for nothing.

But it wasn't a bad trade. The raptors didn't want to take anything that Orlando was offering so they took a first round draft choice instead. Tmac was leaving anyways so it was barely a trade. The Raptors were just getting something for nothing really. ( Not the McGrady is nothing but I think you know what I mean)
