no disrespect to jxuusa, but I'm glad ceekay won as after that terrible showing against Seraph back in the day with 100,000 blocks, I didn't want to see him advance

Los Angeles Clippers (12-24) @ Los Angeles Lakers (23-14)

Image
Corey Maggette had a great first and final
quarter to help his team upset the Lakers

Unlike the previous game of Lakers, both teams had a great shooting night and the game was close throughout the 1st period. Despite an early foul trouble on Elton Brand, Clippers stay close in the game. And with Maggette playing well who scores 15 points in this quarter helped the Clippers hold a 25-21 lead going to the 2nd period. In the next quarter, Lakers made some defensive adjustment esp. against Corey Maggette. As a result, Maggette was held down to only 2 points in this quarter. Lakers grabbed the lead and extended it to 10 points. They also limited the Clippers to only 9 points in almost 5 1/2 minutes. Bryant led the Lakers and now leading by double digit, 58-46 at halftime.

In the 3rd period, Lakers continue to pay well and protected their lead in the entire quarter. They only allowed the Clippers to trade baskets and runs. Going to the final period, Lakers still lead, 71-60. Lakers managed to hold on to their lead and looking good in winning this game. Midway in the quarter, they still lead, 87-76. But things change when Maggette and Arbuthnot teamed up for a 16-4 to grab the lead, 92-91 with 1:32 remaining in the game. Lakers unable to score on the next possession and Arbuthnot again score for a 3-point lead with 53 seconds left. Lakers try to get the lead back but only able to cut the deficit to 1 point. Clippers then made crucial free-throws to win the game 101-98 and handed the Lakers its’ 3rd straight loss. Corey Maggette scored 10 points while Josh Arbuthnot scored 12 points in 5-5 shooting including 2 of 2 from downtown in the final period.

Detroit Pistons (24-12) @ Los Angeles Lakers (23-15)

Image
Kobe Bryant had a game-long brilliance and
finished with 34 points, 5 rebounds and
5 assists.

Lakers started the game on the right note but the Pistons had a great shooting night, made their first 6 shots and hold a 13-7 lead. Pistons hold on to that lead and kept the Lakers on bay. But Bryant scored the last 8 points of the quarter and helped the Lakers overtake the Pistons, 25-24. At the start of the 2nd period, both teams played great defense and they combined just for 10 points in the first 4 minutes of the period. But things change and both teams battle offensively with Lakers winning it. They extended their 1-point lead to 4 points at the end of the 1st half. The score was 54-50 with both Bryant and Hamilton leading the charge of each respective team.

In the 3rd quarter, Lakers somehow pull away and built a double digit lead. Bryant and Alston led a few run to put the Lakers up by 14 points, the last one at 73-59. Then Prince and Billups, who both scored 9 points each in this quarter, helped the Pistons cut the deficit to only 8 points, 80-72 going to the last period. In the final period, defense again helped the Pistons to come back in to the game and even took the lead with 3:40 left in the game. They even made it a 5 point game going to the final 2 minutes. Then Bryant took over, scoring 8 straight points to grab a 1 point lead 96-95 with 30 seconds left. Pistons then missed their shot and fouled Alston. Alston made the 2 free-throws. Pistons then tried a 3-point shot to tie the game but missed it. They got the offensive rebound and made the put back to make it a 98-97 with 1 second left. Bryant was fouled with just 0.3 left in the clock. He made both charities for a 100-97 win. Lakers snapped their 3 game skid.

Kobe Bryant made 2 free-throws with 0.3 left in the game.

Los Angeles Lakers (24-15) @ Detroit Pistons (27-10)

Kobe Bryant once again led the Lakers for
another win with his all-around game
against the defending champs.

Lakers started the game playing good defense to limit the Spurs to only 4 points while scoring 12 points for an early 12-4 advantage. But Spurs used a balance scoring to come back and tied the game at 15-all. But when Ginobili called for his 2nd foul, Lakers took advantage and close the quarter on a 9-4 run. Despite early foul trouble, Mihm led the Lakers with his 6 points and helped Lakers to lead 24-19 after one quarter. In the 2nd period, Lakers extended their lead to 12 points. Spurs struggles as key players like Ginobili and Duncan sat most of the 2nd period due to foul trouble. Lakers enjoyed their biggest lead at 51-34 at halftime break. Butler came off the bench to lead Lakers with his 11 points.

In the 3rd quarter, Spurs cut the deficit to only 11 points. Lakers, which already have Mihm playing limited minutes due to foul trouble, lose Andersen with an arm injury. But still Lakers managed to protect their lead. Despite Ginobili got hot from the field, scoring 18 points in this quarter, Spurs still trailed the Lakers by 6 points, 78-72 going to the 4th period. In the final canto, Lakers once again built a double digit lead by forcing the Spurs to miss 5 straight shots. Spurs never came close as they only managed to cut the deficit to 8 points. Lakers win their 2nd straight game, 102-95 win. Bryant lead the Lakers with his 28 points but Odom and Butler had a good game to make for Mihm and Andersen who played limited minutes due to foul trouble and injury.

Boxscore l Lakers l Spurs l
Player of the Game l Kobe Bryant
Screenshots from the Game
Lamar Odom stole the pass intended to Bowen.
Russel Santos did a great job in place of injured Andersen in the 3rd period.
Tony Parker was fouled by Mihm.
Manu Ginobili scored 18 points in the 3rd quarter after playing limited minutes in the 1st half.
