The reason why its probably hard to beat Detroit is because Pierce is an unstoppable shooter in the game, at least when I play against him in my dynasty. They have a bunch of shooters, but not a real good inside presence, so I suggest playing a 3-2 trapping zone and force them to try and go inside instead of taking jumpers.

Thanks. I'll have to try that.

Pierce and Bibby killed me.

Knicks lead the best-of-7 series 3-0

Baron Down! Knicks receive a scare from Baron Davis, but in OT take Game 3.

All of New York City made a collective groan after Baron Davis was fouled hard and had to leave the game with 23 seconds left in the first half. Baron Davis was shook up after being fouled hard by Eric Snow. He would not return to the game.
Fortunately, the injury did not seem to be anything serious and had nothing to do with his previous leg injury that limited Baron's play to 5 minutes in game two.

The Bulls played hard on their home court and had the lead heading into the half. The game was close throughout. Gilbert Arenas and Kyle Korver(got the start) stepped it up in Baron Davis' absence. Korver finished with a game-high 32 points and Arenas dished 16 assists taking over as point guard.

Kevin Garnett had a hard night matched up against Ben Wallace starting at Center. Garnett still took down 10 rebounds. Ben Wallace outdid him with 15.

Bulls were a different team than the team they were at The Garden. They appeared on their way to making this a series and had the lead throughout the game, until the end when the Knicks were able to tie it with 4.4 seconds left on the clock. Knicks were then able make the defensive stop and take the game in Overtime.

Knicks take a commanding 3 games to none lead in the series and look to complete the sweep Friday night in Chicago. If the Bulls can force a game five it will also be in New York City. Game six (if necessary) will be in Chicago and game seven (if necessary) will be back in MSG.

KNICKS VS. BULLS: GAME FOUR

First Round

NYK: 111 CHI: 105

Knicks win the series 4-0

SWEEP!

The Bulls started off alright shooting 83%, but they could not keep it up. The Knicks picked up their defensive intensity and got hot from the field. So by the second quarter, Knicks Coach Lenny Wilkens was playing his bench, resting his starters for The Conference Semifinals where they will take on the winner of the Pistons vs. Cavaliers series. Midway into the second quarter, Knicks seemed well onto their way on clinching the series win, holding a double-digit lead. Center Mehmet Okur, who has been a disappointment thus far, hit a three! putting the Knicks up by 21. Knicks veteran guard Steve Smith was the Player of the Half scoring 12 points that were equalized by the Bulls starting swingman Allan Houston.

The early lead allowed Baron Davis, who's been hampered with injuries, a much needed rest. He still was able to put his mark on the game with a highlight dunk(pictured above).

Mehmet Okur did the job off the bench, finishing with 11 boards. The Knick was killing the Bulls of the board. At one point, in the 3rd quarter, he got Casey Jacobsen 3 extra 3-pt opportunities taking over the offensive boards. Extra shot opportunities did in any chance the Bulls had in getting the Win.

Kyle Korver got it done offensively, with a team-high 25. Allan Houston had 27 points for the Bulls, the game-high. Ben Wallace grabbed 18 off the boards.

Paul Pierce Out
Detroit loses it's best player.

Paul Pierce was injured in game 4 of the Detroit Piston's first round series vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. He missed games 5, 6 and 7 and is expected to be out for the Piston's series vs. the Knicks.

In his absence, Detroit's 6th man Morris Peterson will take over the starting position his absence will fill.

It's a shame that the Grizzlies were beaten so badly in the playoffs. I knew you would come through in the first round easily though and its bad the Pistons are losing Pierce now.

Thanks for the confidence in me. :chug: .

I'd love the opportunity to get my revenge on the Pistons with Paul Pierce playing, but it's going to be just as sweet without him.

Playoff History

New York Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons

Last year, The Detroit Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers in 5 games to become the 2004 NBA Champions. The Knicks got swept by the New Jersey Nets 4 games to none in the first round of the Playoffs.

1985: New York Knicks defeat the Detroit Pistons 3 games to 1 in the first round of the Playoffs.

1990: Detroit Pistons defeat the New York Knicks 4 games to 1 in the conference semifinals.

Each team won 1 of their only 2 Playoff match-ups.

Playoff Experience

Mehmet Okur: Finals
Kevin Garnett: Conference Finals
Kyle Korver: none
Baron Davis: Conference Semifinals
Gilbert Arenas: none
Chris Mihm: none
Vladamir Radmanovic: First Round
Charlie Ward: Finals
Steve Smith: Finals
Samaki Walker: Finals
Casey Jacobsen: First Round

Lorenzen Wright: First Round
Rodney Rogers: Finals
Glenn Robinson: Conference Finals
Paul Pierce: Conference Finals
Mike Bibby: Conference Finals
Morris Peterson: First Round
Marcus Banks: First Round
Nick Collison: none
Jared Jeffries: none
Willie Green: none
Anthony Carter: Conference Semifinals
Dan Gadzuric: First Round

Knicks
Finals: 4
Conference Finals: 1
Conference Semifinals: 1
First Round: 2
None: 3

Pistons
Finals: 1
Conference Finals: 3
Conference Semifinals: 1
First Round: 4
None: 3

Both teams have a couple guys that have never been in the Playoffs. The edge in Playoff experience would definitely have to go to the Knicks, having four guys that have been to the Finals and two that actually won it. One big positive for the Pistons is that most of Pistons' key players have gotten to the Conference Finals and the inexperience will just come mostly from their bench. For two Knick starters, Gilbert Arenas and Kyle Korver, this is their first experience of the NBA Playoffs, so we'll just have to see if that inexperience affects them. Knicks' bench players of Charlie Ward, Steve Smith, and Samaki Walker, all of whom have reached the NBA Finals, could be big against the very inexperienced Pistons bench.

Season Series

Wednesday, December 15: Pistons defeat the Knicks 112-99 (1-0) @ Madison Square Garden
Saturday, January 29: Pistons defeat the Knicks 105-108 (2-0) @ The Palace of Auburn Hills
Tuesday, February 22: Pistons defeat the Knicks 114-120 (3-0) @ The Palace of Auburn Hills

Pistons swept the season series.

New York Knicks have the best record in the league (62-20) and have won eleven straight going into this series.

Detroit Pistons (55-27) had the 4th best overall record (third in the East). They were seeded 4 because Atlanta won the Southeast division.

They are 3-0 vs. the Knicks this season and just won a game 7 vs. a good Cleveland Cavaliers team, despite losing their best player.

Positives for the Knicks are that the Pistons have lost their best overall player for the series and Baron Davis and Gilbert Arenas were not yet on the Knicks when they lost those games.

Key Matchup

Not for points in a game, but I have been trying to tie Kobe's record for three-pointers made in a game and the team record for three-pointers in a game.

I haven't even gotten close to Kobe's. I think I've gotten close to the team record though.

KG MVP and Ben Gordon ROTY, it couldn't have turned out better!

but what's up with Webber? is he really improved that much?
pretty usual stats for him....

:?

Chris Webber stat line:
2003-04: 18.7PPG 36.1MPG 41%FG 20%3P 71%FT 8.7RPG
Dynasty: 22PPG 38.1MPG 51%FG 11%3P 73%FT 10RPG

It's better, but he's had years where he scored more PPG, shot better and had more rebounds.

I know he's won it in other dynasties too, so maybe it's a bug.
