Lakers lead 1-0
The Los Angeles Lakers have started their playoffs against Phoenix Suns with a game 1 victory to lead the series 1-0.
Lakers started off strong by gaining a ten point lead after the first quarter, but Phoenix didn’t let to hold it long as they won the second quarter, 38 to 20, for a 8 point lead after the second quarter.
Kobe Bryant and Smush Parker led the Lakers to a very strong third quarter, combining 26 points and 7 assists, they managed to down the deficit to 3 at the end of the quarter. Suns had some big issues due to foul-trouble on Steve Nash, who got his 5th foul in the middle of the third period and left Stoudamire and Marion to lead the team. Somehow they managed to hold on with some help from Diaw and Barbosa. Lakers ended the quarter on fire and were ready to win the game in the last period.
Lakers started the quarter by banging in 3 treys in a row to basket, taking the lead and extending it to 6. Suns looked desperate without their main player Steve Nash, he cameback in the middle of the quarter, but quickly got his 6th foul and was forced to sit down. Kobe Bryant was absolutely unbelievable, stealing 3 balls in the last period and finishing them all with powerful dunks. Suns weren’t showing much effort defensively and couldn’t execute offensively. Diaw only was trying to keep his team in the game, but it was too hard for him to do it all alone. Bryant fired up his team with Smush Parker for a winning 8-0 streak at the last couple of minutes and took the Game 1 victory. Kobe posted 39 points, 5 boards, 7 dimes and 6 steals, Parker finished with 29 points, 5 dimes, 3 steals. Odom added 16 points and 14 rebounds, Thomas 12 points, 10 rebounds. Suns were led by Shawn Marion he poured in 26 points, grabbed 13 boards and collected 3 steals and blocks. Stoudamire posted 18 points and 8 rebounds, also 3 blocks. Diaw finished with 25 points and 7 assists, along with 5 rebounds.
“It was one of those exceptional nights when Kobe could do it all”-, Jackson said. “He did everything just to take the win, he knew how much it means”.
“I’m not surprised we lost”,- D’Antoni said. “Steve is what makes our offense work to go without him in the second half almost means the same as to go without him the whole game.”

Definitely missed something here in the last time. Sry for not being active lately. First of all, good job on making the playoffs and nice recap of the month as well as playoff preview.
And for the Suns game. This is exactly what you need. We all know Kobe can score anytime he wants (also against Raja Bell) and I think the main goal is to get your other guys hot. It should be difficult with Lamar since the interior defense by the Suns is (at least in the game) wicked. But you can go against Nash and draw fouls easily, he is not a good defender at all. That is just what you did and Smush was on fire and sealed the deal for you.
So just get them Suns outta da Playoffs

!

Great win dude, you've stolen the homecourt advantage now, but I think you should push hard for the sweep
Sat Jan 27, 2007 11:25 pm
Great win! Keep playin' like this and you will beat the Suns the rest of the way.
Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:38 am
great win... hope you get da cup
Sun Jan 28, 2007 1:43 am
Great game by Parker , and (of course) by Kobe, keep it up, try to keep the homecourt advantage, and then finish them at home, good luck!
Sun Jan 28, 2007 3:00 am
hova-, Well I can't say it was easy and that's not good, since Nash wasn't in the court. I don't know that'll happen when he'll be there in Game 2(I hope he won't)...
Mark., I thought the team which wins most games in season gets the home court advantage on 2-3-2 series... It's not like that? How?
Sacke12, yeah, I hope so, thanks...
23 LeBron, Oh, it's too early to think...
~=The Game=~, Yeah, I'm going high at the moment, hope I can do the same in Game 2...
Thanks for all the comments guys, I really appreciate it...

Domination. Stats like these are hinting at a quadruple double!
Sun Jan 28, 2007 4:46 am
Lamrock13, Yeah I'd like to advance... Even though I like Suns as a team, I hated the last year in the playoffs. Yeah maybe, these stats are hinting at a quadruple double, but I wouldn't like to see it in my boxscores. It would be too unrealistic, but I can't do anything for Kobe not to get such stats he gets more than half of them in the first half... Thanks for the comment by the way...

Series tied 1-1
The Los Angeles Lakers have lost to Phoenix Suns in Game 2 and now the series are tied 1-1.
Lakers lost the first quarter only by two points, though they won the second by 4 points for a two point lead heading into the second half. Big reason of this lead was Kobe Bryant who posted unbelievable numbers in the first half, 20 points and 8 assists.
Lakers started off successfully burying in a couple of treys and getting many boards. Phoenix stopped a little, but wakeup in the middle of the quarter with a stunning 15-0 run to take the lead. Big reason of this was Boris Diaw, he poured in 12 points in the third quarter. Shawn Marion added 10. Suns extended their lead to 3 and ended the quarter. Smush Parker collected 5 dimes, Kwame grabbed 6 boards.
Suns had a tough start once again as they missed 3 consecutive shots and couldn’t rebound offensively. Lakers were controlling the boards on their side successfully. Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant were leading their team throughout the last period. They cut down the lead at the middle of the quarter and created their own. They managed to extend it to 5, despite Marion’s and Nash’s effort. Suns weren’t doing bad all time long. With 2 minutes to go, they took back their lead and were going all straight for the win But Kobe nailed some tough shots in the last minute for the tie with 30 seconds to go. Suns didn’t do anything… Lakers had the ball, they gave it to Kobe who tried for a buzzer-beating potential game winning shot, but he failed. Teams were going to overtime.
Lakers had a good start as Lamar Odom achieved two three-point plays in a row, but then caught his 6th foul and was forced to sit down. Tyrus Thomas and Kwame Brown tried to help with points, but it wasn’t the same. Kobe was nearly the only player scoring for Lakers. While Lakers were facing some issues, Diaw was leading the Suns. They cut down Lakers’ lead and were going for the win. But Lakers managed to tie it with one minute to go. Suns were fouled twice in 40 seconds and made 3 of 3 ft’s. They were leading by three and Lakers had the ball, Kobe tried for a three with 5 seconds to go, but missed it and Kwame rebounded it, he gave it to Kobe, but he missed his second try for the tie.

Ouch, tough loss, but it was really close. Win both games at home, and you will be in the same position the Lake Show was in last year. But if that happens, don't blow it.
Good luck! Love the quick updates!

I don't think this loss changes a lot of things, since you still got the homecourt advantage, and you lost by only 3 pts in overime, so I'm still very optimistic on these series!
Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:24 pm
close loss..anyway good thing u stole game 1, now u have homecourt..i just hope this isnt a turnaround of the playoffs last year..
good luck against them at home!
Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:43 pm
Tough loss in game 2 but you are still looking strong even so. The NBA Finals run on 2-3-2 format with the team with the best record getting the 4 home games, all other rounds run on a 2-2-1-1-1 format, so since you won that first game the suns now have to beat you in LA to win, where as you can afford to lose the next games in Phoenix as long as you win in LA, that being said I want you to win this in as short a series as possible
Sun Jan 28, 2007 10:28 pm
Tough loss, Diaw was sick. I am not too sure about the whole home court advantage thing. Looking forward to seeing if it does really affect your team. Would be cool though. Good Luck in game 3!

Kobe had a tough time shooting, so he found another way to contribute…

Suns lead 2-1
The Los Angeles Lakers lost for the second time in a row against Phoenix Suns and now are losing 1-2 in the series.
Lakers were doing good in the first quarter, but not good enough to get the lead, they lost the quarter by one point. Second was the same and Lakers entered the second half with a 2 point deficit.
Lakers got to a quick start by hitting some deep baskets and defending successfully trice. They took the lead which was held nearly to the end of the quarter. Kobe didn’t have his hot hand last night so he found another way to contribute. Lakers’ leading scorer dished out 10 assists. Lakers played really great offense and defense throughout the quarter, but Suns’ Diaw poured in 6 points in the last minute and that gave Suns their lead back. Third quarter was hard for Suns because Nash collected his 5th foul right at the middle of it.
Lakers’ Bryant was going all the way for the win. Bench players Luke Walton and co. Were helping all they could. Lakers destroyed Suns’ lead early and even were leading by 12 on one time, but momentum quickly changed and Nash started pulling his team out of the whole. With lots of help from Boris Diaw(14 points in the last period), Suns were back on the track and cut down Lakers’ lead with 1:43 to go. Though Lakers took it back, but Suns then again eliminated it. It was going like this till the middle of the last minute when Nash poured in a trey and Suns were leading by two. Then Lakers tied it quickly and fouled Barbosa. He made one of two and Lakers called a timeout. After it they gave it to Kobe, but Suns learned from their experience and covered up Kobe really great, with two defenders, but when Kobe got through one, another came in. There were only 4 seconds to go and he had no time so Bryant dished the ball to Parker who was left open near the foul line and he shot at the buzzer. But his shot didn’t fell in and Lakers had to suffer their second loss in a row…

Ouch , another tough loss, but don't give up, I'm sure you can win the other games if Kobe plays better!
Diaw played great (too bad he doesn't play that good in real life

), and you played with very good teamwork.
Keep it up, and good luck for the end of the series!

Tough break Pursuer. Poetic justice though as a guy named 'Smush' can't help you forcibly overcome defeat.
This is a great dynasty, as I probably said before. Very fair and realistic and I hope you push the Suns as LA did last year. Only with a different end result, though i am intrigued to see how you do your off-season, just so I can take some notes.
Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:25 pm
Come on, you can turn this around! Tough loss, but it does add drama. Game 4 is a must-win! Unless you plan to do a reverse of last year (go down 3-1 and come back to win series), you gotta play as hard as you can! As I say in about every reply, I can't wait for more! Also, nice shot of Kobe's pass.

Very nice dynasty, "brother" from Lithuania !

keep up playin', can't wait for more games..
