After the game against Seatle Supersonics, Mavericks trainer diagnosed that Anani Hughes is injured.
He injured his thumb and will be unplayable for about 2 weeks, so probably will miss first playoff round.

WHO WILL BE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AT 2006-2007 SEASON?

ImageImageImageImageImage

PAUL PIERCE
Image

Paul Pierce is leading Boston Celtics as usual.
But they don't reach playoffs 2nd year in a row.
He was having a contract year also, so maybe the result of good play for him.
He has miserable future in Boston, but who knows?

STATS:
PPG 25.9 | RPG 8.1 | APG 4.3 | BPG 1.28 | SPG 2.21

-----------------------------------------------------------------

LAMAR ODOM
Image

Very sensational season for Lamar, averaging double didgits in two categories as SF.
This year Lakers don't have only one scorer who score all points.
There is Lamar Odom, who is playing at the same level as Bryant.

STATS:
PPG 23.5 | RPG 10.5 | APG 5.8 | BPG 1.38 | SPG 0.86

------------------------------------------------------------------

LEBRON JAMES
Image

Very good season for Cavs and good stats by LeBron James.
Maybe lack of points, but still very possible candidate for the MVP.
Cavs got 1st place in the EAST, so here is another advantage for him.

STATS:
PPG 20.9 | RPG 8.3 | APG 7.4 | BPG 0.97 | SPG 2.03

-----------------------------------------------------------------

TRACY MCGRADY
Image

McGrady's Rockets had pretty good season standing in the 5th place at WEST.
Have the contract year, the similar to Paul Pierce.
Leading in steals among all the players in NBA.

STATS:
PPG 23.0 | RPG 9.1 | APG 6.0 | BPG 0.93 | SPG 2.52

-----------------------------------------------------------------

KOBE BRYANT
Image

This guy with Lamar Odom are the best players at Lakers.
And they were leading the team to playoffs, where will face with Spurs.
Maybe the combat against two teammates for MVP?

STATS:
PPG 23.8 | RPG 5.4 | APG 6.7 | BPG 0.48 | SPG 2.34

PLAYOFFS 2007

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Image 1 VS 8 Image

Review:
Will Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant be able to beat San Antonio Spurs?
Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant are ones of the main MVP candidates and led Lakers to the playoffs.
But San Antonio Spurs was the best team in regular season winning 24 games and losing only 5.

Prediction:
80% vs 20%

Season game:
Spurs 96 : 68 Lakers

Image 4 VS 5 Image

Review:
Dallas Mavericks were on their way to be the top WEST team.
But several losses and they dropped to 4th place and now will face with Houston Rockets.
Tracy McGrady of the Rockets is hot this year and is one of the five MVP candidates.
So if Dallas manage to stop him, they will probably go to the next round.

Prediction:
55% vs 45%

Season game:
Mavericks 97 : 101 Rockets

Image 3 VS 6 Image

Review:
Denver Nuggets are on they way to the Conference Finals.
They are willing to go there, but the first barrier are Memphis Grizzlies.
If Grizzlies manage to stop Carmelo Anthony, they have very good chances to advance to the next round.

Prediction:
50% vs 50%

Season game:
Nuggets 109 : 88 Grizzlies

Image 2 VS 7 Image

Review:
Portland Trail Blazers went to playofs and it was the biggest surprise of this year.
The rookies are leading this team, so it will be very hard to win against Phoenix, which are 20-2 after the terrible season start 0-7.

Prediction:
85% vs 15%

Season game:
Suns 113 : 72 Blazers

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Image 1 VS 8 Image

Review:
Cleveland Cavaliers finally found their game with Lebron James.
I think they are the main favourites at the EAST to win the conference.
One question is: How much chances have Atlanta Hawks, the team which had first apperance in playoofs after several years?

Prediction:
90% vs 10%

Season game:
Cavaliers 103 : 101 Hawks

Image 4 VS 5 Image

Review:
One of the most interesting pairs in the 1st round. There is no favourite in this match.
O'Neal and Peja are leading Indy to the victories, but Chicago had offseason with huge changes and have good chances to beat Pacers.

Prediction:
50% vs 50%

Season game:
Pacers 101 : 107 Bulls

Image 3 VS 6 Image

Review:
This pair has very interesting matchup. B.Wallace against his former team!
Some may consider Bobcats being here as the biggest suprise.
But what results are expected from the team, which added B.Wallace and L.Hughes to the team and kept all former players.

Prediction:
45% vs 55%

Season game:
Bobcats 68 : 88 Pistons

Image 2 VS 7 Image

Review: Philadelphia found his game with Iverson, Webber and Iguodala and here are the results.
2nd place in the EAST, so in the fisrt round they will meet with New Jersey Nets.
The team with great backcourt, but were struggling at the end of regular season.

Prediction:
60% vs 40%

Season game:
76ers 95 : 76 Nets

Nice Playoff Preview, some really nice suprises in here.
Bobcats are cool !! With Big Ben and "Smooth" Hughes they really did well.
And Hawks and Blazers in the Playoffs ! They made the right choice in the draft I suppose.
Hope you get it done vs the Rockets, watch out for Yao or he will kill you at the boards and with putback points !

Pistons lost Ben Wallace to their opponents Charlotte though, they're up against Big Ben, Okafor, Gerald Wallace, Larry Hughes! (correct me if I'm wrong, Marquis) :) Bobcats kick ass in your dynasty :D

Thanks guys for all the comments!

Pursuer, yeah this system is killing. Now let's say I win against Rockets and I must play against the best team in the conference semifinal yet.

HonorGlow, haha Mavs won't lose, they are going to the finals
Checked your thread, interesting addition (Y)

hova-, well yea there are some surprises such as Atlanta or Portland, they had some really good rookies. I will try to contain Yao as hard as I can, hope I will win first game.

Shing, Yes you are right :) These four players with 2 point guards: Felton and veteran Knight doing this team very good. I can't wait to see which team: Bobcats or Pistons will proceed.

MAVERICKS WON FIRST PLAYOFF GAME AGAINST ROCKETS

American Airlines Center, Dallas
Mavericks lead 1-0

Image

Dallas Mavericks the first playoff game against Houston Rockets 103 : 90.
This was hard victory, the score was tied a lot of times and Mavs started to play better at the start of 4th quarter.
Mavericks stopped Yao Ming in this game, only 7 points and 8 rebounds from him. Chandler dominated against him.
Tracy McGrady also had not very successful night with 19 points, only 2 rebs and 2 assists.
Dirk Nowitzki was anounced as the player of the game with 23 points and 9 rebounds.
Devin Harris added 19 points and Josh Howard did his job deffensively very perfect pressuring McGrady.
There were some surprises in other games. But favourites Spurs, Suns, Cavaliers won against their opponents.
Nuggets lost against Grizzlies, first playoff victory for this team. Also Indiana won against Chicago.
In very interesting match Bobcats lost to Pistons, and 76ers didn't manage to use their home advantage against Nets.
